  • huge home in beautiful subdivision

"My wife, and I, plus one friend, stayed in this wonderful huge interesting home in a secured private residential community. The house is very comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was large and had all the necessary utensils and equipment. The Living room and dinning room was big and comfortable. The bedrooms were big. There was plenty of hot water for showers and the bathrooms were clean. The location was within 15 minute walking distance of the main square, and close to everything you need. I liked that there was a small local market one block away to pick up odds and ends."

  • 8 Weeks in Casa Amelia

"We spent the last 8 weeks at Casa Amelia and had a lovely time. This home is very nice and has all of the modern conveniences anyone could wish for. We had more than enough room for our family of 4 and the home could very easily accommodate two families. I really liked that my kids were sleeping in the room directly above me and I could hear them if need be. Often colonial houses are spread out making it difficult to hear little ones. We fell in love with the location as it is close to everything. We walked everywhere in the city and only took a tuk tuk home in the evening when it was late. This home is in a very nice part of town with restaurants, tiendas and bakeries nearby (the main grocery is on the other side of town, but still an easy walk). A real highlight for us is that there is a bi-lingual Montessori school (Oxford) just across the street. They have a very flexible enrollment and take pre-school kids through age 10. Additionally very near is a great Gym for working out (La Fabrica) and a wonderful Spanish school ( Sevilla) all within a 5-8 minute walk ( both off of 1st avenida). While the home is not in a gated community we always felt very safe and comfortable coming and going. The neighbors and the house ladies who live next door and look after the home were super helpful as are the owners of this home who live in the US. They were more than accommodating and helped to make our visit wonderful. Antigua is a lively little city, so there will be some city noise. Buses, people, cars, firecrackers and sirens are a common occurrence. For us it was all a part of the Central American charm. This is a great place to make a home base to explore the region and get a real feel for the culture."

  • Great Home for Enjoying Guatemala

"My wife and I stayed in Catherine's home for two and a half months while we explored and volunteered in Guatemala. It was incredible. The location of the home is about ten minutes outside the city of Antigua in a very small town called Cuidad Vieja. The small town is much quieter, cheaper and less polluted then Antigua. The property sits in fields of coffee and avocado trees where my wife and I along with Catherine's two dogs explored for up to two hours a day. You can see volcanoes from your bedroom balcony. There are horses on the property. Beautiful gardens. We plan on having large family gatherings here in the future if this property is still available. If you are tired of being in a city and want to get away to relax go to Catherine's home. Don't waste your time paying for hotels in Antigua. You'll forget about all the things in life that you think are so important and start appreciating all the incredible nature on this Earth with the ones you love. That's what its like being at Catherine's house."

  • Great Location and really cosy

"This house is perfectly located, right by the market and a short walk to the centre of Antigua. The house is cozy and comfortable with everything you need (from kitchen utensils to extra blankets). It is in a gated community and the neighbors are all really welcoming and kind which makes a big difference. We have 2 boys and they were always outside on their bikes. Sandra comes everyday to do the house keeping and is always willing to help. All-in-all a great house in a great location with everything you need to enjoy your stay."
