Seasons to Visit Guatemala Beach Houses

In general, the best time of year to visit Guatemala is during the drier months that run from October to April. The weather at the coastal regions can get very hot and is only tempered by the cooling ocean breezes. The peak travel season tends to be between December and April. The rainy season is from May to September. Rain showers tend to occur in the late afternoon and early evening, and generally clear up fairly quickly. The temperatures tend to fall quite sharply at night; although the skies are clear, it can get quite cold. Ensure that you have something warmer to wear after sunset.

Traveling to Guatemala

The primary travel hub in Guatemala is Guatemala City. The Aurora International Airport is located four miles south of Guatemala City. There is a shuttle bus service that links the airport and city center. Local taxis are also available if you would prefer a private transfer. The Aurora Airport has frequently scheduled arrivals from several major cities in the U.S. These include New York City, Miami, Atlanta and Houston. There are also direct regularly scheduled flights operating from Madrid. For Euopean travelers, this will be the most direct flight option unless you want to travel via the United States. The airport also has good regional links to neighboring countries in Central and South America. A secondary airport is located just outside of Flores. If you are interested in visiting the archeological sites of Guatemala, this is the closest airport to the Tikal Archeological Park.
