  • Great Location and Amenities

"Staying in this house was a great experience. It's at the edge of downtown and only few minutes from both the beach and the city center. The owner and the housekeeper were helpful and really did their job making us feel at home. Great experience and would definitely stay there again."

  • Would defiinitely go back, but some pointers ...

"First off, I would definitely go back. The house is spacious and well maintained in general. The amenities are great, again in general. Snorkelling off the beach in front is fabulous. And the gentleman who looks after the house is absolutely wonderful. However, the internet access was slow and at the very least needs to have a password put on it. I refused to use it for business due to that insecurity. The AC unit in one of the bedrooms didn't work at first and it wasn't all the effective when it do work. It made a difference, but it never got cooler than "quite warm" even with all doors and windows to the bedrooms closed and the AC on all night when we slept. The golf cart has a few tricks you need to be aware of to keep it going, and the headlight didn't work the entire time we were there. So overall I'd say the place is great but it deserves to have the level of care stepped up a notch. Having said that, remember that I would definitely go back. One solid tip - you really need to rent the golf cart. It's a good 20 minute walk to town depending on what part you want to access. And a final tip - if you snorkel off the beach in front, angle toward the right for easier access to deeper water. If you go straight out there are lots of shallows to get through and it's tough to avoid the coral. Enjoy!"

  • Fun getaway

"This condo is beautiful and very comfortable. It was perfect for our stay and very quiet. We only slept and showered there so we liked that this condo was tucked away near the back of the property. Being on the second floor, we could also keep the blinds open the whole time without anyone seeing in, unlike any of the properties on the lower levels or near the pool. We also found a little pathway, out back, that led to all the little eateries, away from the beach, owned by expats. You have to try the little Thai restaurant "Nice and Spicy". There is also a little market, near there, for beer, water, chips, etc. For pizza, you have to try Pizzerama. It is located within the Bananarama resort next door. It is awesome. We often took a water taxi to West End beach for lunch or dinner, as well. The "Rotisserie" was delicious for chicken and you have to try the fish balls at the "Lighthouse" restaurant. Raymond was our favorite water taxi driver. Ask for him if you can. Very important note: bring lots of $1, $5 and $10 bills. Make sure they are in excellent condition, no rips. They can NOT take any money which is torn. Also, the children love American bubble gum, so that is always fun to have for trade. As for dates of travel, I preferred the quiet time which started after Easter sunday. The Honduran mainlanders come to Roatan for their holiday the week, ending Easter sunday. It is one gigantic island party. Fun for a day but really loved the calmness afterwords. The scuba diving is awesome and snorkeling from the beach was well worth renting snorkel gear, the entire time. We even used a sea kayak and paddled to the end and then snorkeled all the way back, towing the kayak behind. So fun. For quick fun on the way back to the airport, check out the Iguana Farm. A little past the airport but worth the extra drive. Tiny little place with thousands of iguanas. You can feed them and touch them all you want. Roatan is a pretty place to visit. Infinity Bay resort is beautiful. Love the towel service too. Thanks for everything."

  • Rick and Lydia

"Wonderful, best vacation ever!! Everything you need is in this condo. Stop by grocery store after you are picked up by Ron-get salt and cooking oil. Ask Ron and Judy for any suggestions if you are looking for anything. If they invite you on a Sunday excursion-go on it, you will see beautiful beaches and eat fresh fish (delicious), on the pier (covered). We also got to ride through the mangroves and jump from a rope tied to one of the trees while on this trip. Don't need to use the air conditioner; Its cool with just the ceiling fan and windows opened. Had so many things to keep us busy that we never got to snorkel off our pier and see the starfish or the sunset from there. Condo is very private, no one bothers you. There are mangos for your picking (delicious), you can hear them falling off the trees. So much to say, could go on and on, but we truly enjoyed our stay here and plan on going back, looks like this may be our retirement home"

Honduras Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Honduras Vacation Rentals

The climate in Honduras varies in the different regions. While it is generally tropical, the weather is cooler and more temperate in the higher mountain regions. Generally, you can wear lightweight cotton clothing all year long. You will need a good rain jacket especially if you are traveling in the wet season. Make sure that you also have one or two warmer items of clothing if you plan to visit the highlands. Typically, the wet season is from May to October. Tropical storms have been known to blow across from the Caribbean, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The north coast is one of the most popular tourist regions; however, temperatures can get very hot and visitors are advised to use plenty of sunscreen and wear hats. The most popular travel season is during the drier months which are from November through April.

Tegusigalpa has a beautiful historic city center. Colonial architecture can be seen in a number of the ancient buildings. Another city that has well-preserved colonial architecture is the former capital of Honduras, the city of Comayaguan. Here you can roam the cobbled streets, visit the town plazas and see the quaint white-washed houses. Each year for Easter, there is a week-long celebration that is full of cultural festivities. If you have an interest in the ancient Mayan culture, one place you must visit is Copan. The Copan Ruins Archeological Park houses some impressive structures which give testament to the advancement of the Mayan culture. There is an Acropolis, the Court of the Heiroglyphic Stairway, and the Great Plaza.

Honduras is located in Central America just to the north of Nicaragua and east of Guatemala. The capital city Tegucigalpa is located in the southern region of the country. The nation's main airport is located just three miles to the southeast of Tegucigalpa.
