"We just returned from fuego del mar, where we celebrated my 50th bday and our 25 th anniversary. We had a group of 8 and this was the perfect house. Great pool, awesome central area with great breezes. We snorkelled of the back, and the dive boats from subway picked us up there as well. The meals we had there were very good, and the van made it easy for our whole group to go out together. We are trying to decide when to go back.
But, beware the bugs, they didn't hurt or itch, until we were ready to leave, but now they are very itchy."

"I just got back from 10 days at the best spot on Roatan. This was my 2nd visit and I'm already starting to plan on coming back for a 3rd time. This is now my official favorite vacation spot.
Sunset House is well situated on a beautiful stretch of beach between West End and West Bay. The house is beautifully maintained, air conditioned and has everything you'll want for your vacation, including a fantastic outdoor bar and barbecue. The grounds are gorgeous, with a lot of palm, banana and almond trees that provide plenty of shade.
Water taxis pass by regularly so you can easily travel back and forth from West End and West Bay. West End has lots of shops and restaurants, and many dive shops if you're a scuba diver or want to learn. It's an excellent location for both snorkeling and scuba diving.
West Bay is a stretch of beach at the end of the island with number of resorts and restaurants. I'd highly recommend going to The Grand Roatan at the very end by the rock cliffs. The food there was excellent and it's never very busy. It's a great place place to go for lunch and to snorkel, or for an evening meal."

"The house is very nice, view is gorgeous. With the windows open for a cross breeze it wasn't really necessary to run the AC very much. Very relaxing to just lie in the hammock with a book. The kitchen is well equipped but the grill should be replaced. A few small maintainence items were taken care right away. It's not convenenient to the beach or town areas so for short stays if you want to just walk out onto the beach you should consider staying in town, but if you are staying longer and/or looking for peace and quiet I would recommend it however you may want to consider renting a car for convenience although taxis are easily available."

"We just returned from our trip to Roatan and our stay at the Pink Orchid. We were very pleased with our trip and the ease of dealing with the owners, on site staff and local residents. The owners were very informative and easy to contact prior to our trip and the house is exactly (or better) as described on the website. Location is fantastic with an easy walk either way down the beach to the West End community or West Bay Beach for shopping, dining and entertainment. We went with our two teenage children and another couple and the house was perfect for 6 people. Snorkeling and floating right from the dock was great and the kayak trips to the reef for snorkeling (a very short paddle) were off the hook! We saw sea turtles, a moray eel and several barracuda as well as many beautiful reef fish. The local contacts were really good and we had a local chef come prepare and island feast at the Pink Orchid one evening. We caught tuna on a fishing trip right outside the reef in front of the house and went zip lining one day through the jungle very close to the house. Water taxis were readily available right from the dock and it never took more than a few minutes to flag one down. All in all a fantastic trip for our family. I also think that we should report that the ladies on our trip walked by themselves during the day to both the West End community and West Bay and never felt uncomfortable or threatened during these ventures. It seemed much safer than some of the other locations in Central America / Caribbean region we researched. We did heed the owners advice and stay off the beaches after dark."
