Quite little piece of Heaven with everything you need within walking distance!
"Everything was just perfect for us! We like to be away from the hustle and bustle. Sandy Bay is more residents than tourist. If you prefer night life, parties etc- then head or stay on West Bay/End. Snorkeling is amazing right our front, no need to hire anyone. Defiantly do a few dives with local dive shops. Theres 2 within walking distance, both good. (deep sea fishing and dives are literally a 3 min boat ride out) Good food/restaurants & spa a few steps down beach. Only place I really recommend you take a taxi or have Channin take you is to Little French Key. Just the pictures of that place are worth it! People who saw my pictures thought I was in a pool & not the ocean ! Daniel Johnsons zoo is a must. Trust me. =) The beds were comfortable. Everything you need in the house. We never needed to turn on AC. Safety is not an issue. I honestly think Roatan gets a bad rap because of the mainland of Honduras. There is a monitored alarm system ..if you do feel uneasy in another country. Plus Jimmy is usually on the grounds during the day- he helps maintain all the lush landscaping. Tip: Go no where without your camera- every time I did, I missed getting a picture of something Ive never seen before! Channin & Kimberly are the property managers, and he can take you on tours and anywhere you want to go. Suzanne was helpful with a smooth transaction and helpful info. Great people! Oh, and just about everyone speaks english on the island so there is no language barrier."

"We visited Roatan from 7/31 to 8/12. We had originally booked another property but Roatan Property Mgmt told us the pool would be closed for renovations. I asked if they had another property with pool and almost immediately they offered us the Big Dolphin House. They were great to work with, everything went smooth and this property is beautiful!!!. We were close to the tourist part of Roatan but not close enough to be disturbed by the noise. Miguel, the caretaker, and his family are great people, very nice and they keep the property clean at all times. He's always cleaning the pool. The pool is great, our girls (7 and 5) loved it!! The house was very comfortable, It had everything we needed. Roatan Property Mgmt even provided drinking water for us for our entire stay, the house had supplies already (toilet paper, etc). Very well equipped. The AC worked great but it's only in the bedrooms and living room, so sometime the hall upstairs is hotter than other parts in the house. The only thing we didnt like was the fact that there's no balcony to the sliding windows surrounding the living room, so with little kids you have to be careful, but it was not a problem. We just keep them closed and turn on the AC at night. The property is right off the beautiful beach, the views are just breath taking. We would definitely stay here again!!!"

"Stayed four days. Beautiful view!! Good snorkeling off the dock at reef. Everything provided. Was thrilled to see driver with our name at airport pick up! Airport is crazy busy on arrival. Be sure to stop for groceries on way Sea Dancer too far to walk. We caught bus and taxi on road."

"Hobbies Hideaway right on the beach in Sandy Bay is in a perfect location for endless kayaking and snorkeling (we did both every day). Most days my husband and I only saw 4-5 people the entire day, peace and quiet is our idea of a perfect vacation. It is the most tranquil setting you could hope to find.
We had a two bedroom, 1 bath apartment and were provided with plenty of towels for our 7 day stay. The kitchen came equipped with all the necessities needed for every day living. The refrigerator/freezer was large enough to handle all of our cold storage products for a full week, with more than ample room to spare. The air conditioner for our place kept us super cool and comfortable when we were inside. Wifi is available, though it can be spotty like everywhere else on the island. If you want Ritz accommodations, this place is more pedestrian, but if you want all of the awesomeness that Roatan has to offer, Hobbies Hideaway is the only place to book your stay.
John (a knowledgeable captain and font of historical island information) and Ronald (the maintenance man and human embodiment of the Swiss Army Knife) took us out on one of the boats to snorkel our last day. It was great fun, we got to see Ronald spear a lion fish, he is extremely adept at spotting things in the ocean that appear to be amorphous blobs to the untrained eye, one definitely wants to snorkel with him. After the outing Ronald plucked and deftly macheted fresh coconuts for us, what is more rhetorically tropical than that?
Sue was able to set up a private cook for us one night. Laura the chef made us island spiced chicken, red beans with rice, fried plantains and bananas as well as a small salad with her super tasty homemade dressing. Laura was another fabulous addition to our stay.
Every day we took one of the two, 2 seater kayaks out right from our beach access point where we would randomly pick a portion of the Meso-American reef to drop anchor and snorkel. Not one day were we anything but stunned by the vast array of fish, conchs, lobsters and ocean flora. Our little GoPro (we would recommend any underwater camera) worked overtime to document the amazing colors of all the flora and fauna as well as the various blues of the ocean itself.
Hobbies Hideaway in Sandy Bay is the place to unwind and relax when you need respite from the everyday trials and tribulations of your fast paced existence."
