  • Great vacation

"Hobbies Hideaway...what a great vacation. John and Sue are wonderful hosts. We were really impressed with the great location. It is secluded and very well maintained. And , it is less than 50 steps to the water. The beaches were raked and cleaned daily. John not only transported us to and from the airport but, he and Sue took us shopping(groceries)twice. We were there for Christmas of 2014. John and Sue decorated the beautiful outdoor lanai with lights and a Christmas tree. They also brought all the guest some homemade Key-lime pie. You will not feel like just a number when you visit this place. These folks care about their guest having a wonderful vacation. Buz/Elaine would like to thank John/Sue for being such wonderful hosts. We look forward to returning."

  • Everything you wish for and beyond!!!

"We vacationed in Roatan island during the Christmas holidays; Not only the island was breathtaking but also we had the best host one could possibly wish for. She made our stay incredibly special; the cabana was super clean and equipped with everything one needs to enjoy being at home away from home. Judy was very helpful in providing info via several emails prior to us booking the place and afterwards. You enjoy exactly what is advertised for and she goes miles out of her way to make your vacation one of a kind. Imagine waking up to the soft morning breeze feeling as if you live in a mystic forrest steps away from the majestic ocean... or listening to the short tropical torrential downpour which was a exhilarating experience. Incredible reefs for snorkling are just 10 minutes swim away and the "Blue Island Divers" are practically next door for an amazing diving experience. Lovely restaurants incl. Blue Parrot nearby. Ron arranged for ziplining and drove us to the most magical part of the island to a great bar called Asylum. They could leave me there as far as I was concerned :-) The Islanders are wonderful and made our vacation unforgettable. We celebrated the New Years Eve with such a cheerful crowd at a divers' bar in the West End listening to the live music and the crashing waves of the ocean; my husband scuba dived several times and we went on various adventures including to a romantic getaway to the Mango Bay. Damn it...time was flying by way too fast. We never vacationed through VRBO, but I guess we'll never go to a resort again. We have a hectic professional life. I just loved how much quality sleep I had in Judy's place and I loved to see my husband so relaxed and enjoying himself; this vacation meant a lot to us and we are planning to see Judy again sometimes soon."

  • Beautiful ocean and sunset views! Best view and value for what you get is well worth it!

"This beach front house is a real gem! The large deck and views along with the open concept "beachy" feel to the house made this location very special. The A/C when needed was much appreciated, but you really only need to open the doors and let the natural air through. The manager, Dave along with the owner (Lucille) who just happened to be at the property while we were there, made sure we were well taken care of. We were given a loaded cell phone with everyones number on it in case we ran into any problems. Dave even made sure there was beer in the fridge upon arrival! Our weather was perfect and we spent endless hours just staring or swimming in the ocean and watching the turquoise and green ghecko's entertain us on the deck. Having the ipod player made it just that much more enjoyable. The satelite TV even gave us Toronto channels to see what we were NOT missing.. the snow! The snorkelling off the beach also made this location fabulous. We saw many different fish, starfish, dolphins, barracuda, turtles, rays, etc each time we went out. We were even lucky enough to have been snorkelling when they let the dolphins out across the way and were given a free true dolphin swimming experience I will never forget. The restaurants are within walking distance (had many meals at Blue Bahia, Transquil Seas and Mayoka Lodge) which made this location very convenient. We went into West End a few times (by cab negotiate $3.00 for the both of you!) to do some shopping and ate at Rotissiere Chicken and Keiths BBQ at the right end of the beach for some of the best local food for $5.00! The main attraction also to Roatan night life is the fact that alot of restaurants include live entertainment at night. Our manager, Dave, plays drums in a band, and what a treat to see his different bands playing at different locations over the island. Tranquil Seas Tuesday nights were special. Bring a flashlight its about a 8 minute walk! They usually play from 7-9 which makes it perfect to eat dinner, watch some live entertainment, have a few drinks, then turn in for the evening as the hot sun makes you very tired! We ended up eating breakfast mostly at the house, just cereal, milk and toast. There is a coffee maker, so bring coffee/sugar. The kitchen itself is quaint and was glad we were eating out mostly. The locals lives around this location, and you do hear dogs and roosters alot. The locals also use the beach out front so it is not completely "private". Great time!"
