  • Can't wait to return!!

"We spent 2 weeks at Villa Azul with 2 other couples and had a wonderful time! The house was perfect and the location - excellent! Snorkeling the reef was awesome and the turtles were our favorites!! Well, besides Chica, the neighboring dog who is absolutely adorable (and that comes from a non-dog lover!) Peter, the owner, is great to work with and Vanessa is wonderful - helpful and fun!! We enjoyed all the neighbors and return vacationers and really look forward to seeing all of them on our return trip next year! The house had everything we needed and then some. It's easy to get into West End and West Bay and far enough away to be quiet and relaxing! But if you prefer to get a bite to eat at the Blue Parrot, which is just a short walk away, the food is great and the employees are delightful!! Perfect vacation!!"

  • Great place!!!

"Wonderful home. So glad I found this gem. Hotels on the island are pricey and I wanted something more private. This fit the bill perfectly. The managers met us and took us to the home. Internet was not possible as the power was out on the island that day for a few hours but she came back as soon as it was back on. The AC was perfect. The amenities were abundant. The palapa could use a little work - there are a few holes and the staircase going to it seems a little wobbly. There was a grill that we wanted to use but ran out of time, the pool was gorgeous at night. I missed having a broom as I brought some sand in from morning runs in the beach. Also the toilet on the first floor did not function correctly - it ran all the time. It has been brought to the managers attention and I'm sure it will be fixed quickly. I also recommend taking the trash out quickly - there were a lot of ants the entire time even thou we never left anything out or dirty. The home is right off the beach. Perfect location to watch the sunset from the dock every night. This is a perfect place for a quiet romantic get away or a week party with friends. I would recommend having a vehicle - there are a few places that are super close but it's fun to explore the whole island! The only negative aside from the broken toilet and the ants was they wanted to show the home twice while we were there. It is on the market and while I understand the need to bring people in this was not told to me ahead of time and was a little disruptive. It was so great I am renting it again in four weeks! Wonderful home, wonderful island, amazing time!"

  • Beautiful ocean and sunset views! Best view and value for what you get is well worth it!

"This beach front house is a real gem! The large deck and views along with the open concept "beachy" feel to the house made this location very special. The A/C when needed was much appreciated, but you really only need to open the doors and let the natural air through. The manager, Dave along with the owner (Lucille) who just happened to be at the property while we were there, made sure we were well taken care of. We were given a loaded cell phone with everyones number on it in case we ran into any problems. Dave even made sure there was beer in the fridge upon arrival! Our weather was perfect and we spent endless hours just staring or swimming in the ocean and watching the turquoise and green ghecko's entertain us on the deck. Having the ipod player made it just that much more enjoyable. The satelite TV even gave us Toronto channels to see what we were NOT missing.. the snow! The snorkelling off the beach also made this location fabulous. We saw many different fish, starfish, dolphins, barracuda, turtles, rays, etc each time we went out. We were even lucky enough to have been snorkelling when they let the dolphins out across the way and were given a free true dolphin swimming experience I will never forget. The restaurants are within walking distance (had many meals at Blue Bahia, Transquil Seas and Mayoka Lodge) which made this location very convenient. We went into West End a few times (by cab negotiate $3.00 for the both of you!) to do some shopping and ate at Rotissiere Chicken and Keiths BBQ at the right end of the beach for some of the best local food for $5.00! The main attraction also to Roatan night life is the fact that alot of restaurants include live entertainment at night. Our manager, Dave, plays drums in a band, and what a treat to see his different bands playing at different locations over the island. Tranquil Seas Tuesday nights were special. Bring a flashlight its about a 8 minute walk! They usually play from 7-9 which makes it perfect to eat dinner, watch some live entertainment, have a few drinks, then turn in for the evening as the hot sun makes you very tired! We ended up eating breakfast mostly at the house, just cereal, milk and toast. There is a coffee maker, so bring coffee/sugar. The kitchen itself is quaint and was glad we were eating out mostly. The locals lives around this location, and you do hear dogs and roosters alot. The locals also use the beach out front so it is not completely "private". Great time!"

  • Wonderful Honeymoon

"My husband and I had an amazing time staying at Al & Sandra's Spooky Channel Guest House. Everything you see in this listing is accurate and it is above and beyond what we were anticipating. We were greeted at the airport by Al who took us to the very nice grocery store right away. During the course of our 2 week stay, Al & Sandra offered numerous times to take us to the grocery store, West End, West Bay, etc. whenever they went anywhere and it was always appreciated when we carpooled. The house is nice, cozy, and very clean. Its well stocked with condiments, towels, linens, etc. When we werent spending our time at the beach in West End or West Bay, we absolutely LOVED swimming wtih the dolphins at Anthony Keys Resort, and talk to Al about deep sea fishing if that is your thing- he hooked us up with 2 memorable fishing excursions and we had a blast! Al & Sandra recommened great restaurants- you have to have the caribbean jerk chicken at Blue Parrot! We also loved utilizing the fabulous dock right out front- which was fantastic to snorkel from- lots of good fish, coral, and sea creatures to see! Whether is was lounging around on the beach or dock, or playing hours of rummy on the nice little screened in porch with a Salva Vida Beer (our favorite), Al & Sandra made our stay fantastic, and when I got sick and had to stay 3 more days, they were very helpful and understanding. They are great people to have a beer with and they are very knowledgable abotu the island. You will have a blast and I hope we can return someday to see Roatan, and Al & Sandra. Pack light and bring bug spray for the terrible sand flies is the best advice I can give you."
