"Favourite gift: Villa managers, Emiliana and Claudio, who were always accessible yet unobtrusive in helping me find my way. I have found a cherished friendship."

  • Wonderful Stay at Infinity Bay

"Like most people I'm skeptical of offers not direct with the hotel - however this was a great experience. Susan is fabulous in providing all the information you need before arrival and very responsive during the stay (in case you have issues). I visited Hondorus with my brother, our goal was comfortable accommodations, diving, sunshine, experience local food and relaxation. So here it is: 1. Accommodations - perfectly located on the ground floor and pictures are exact (to me the place is even better in real life). Not directly in front of the pool area and this is a great thing! This room is an oasis from all that noise during the night time. Other hotel guests were not so lucky and were frustrated by noise. 10 seconds walk to get to the pool and 20 seconds to get to the beach - everything is right there. 2. Location - if you like you snorkeling and lots of beach space to lay out - this is the best hotel to be at. The reef is stunning and right in front. Guests at other hotels come to the Infinity to dive and snorkel. 3. Infinity Bay - best on the beach by far. Walked the whole beach and visited other hotels - no question this is the place to stay. 4. Diving - If you're a new diver this is a great spot. If you're an experienced diver I recommend finding local operations in West Bay - cheaper and more adventurous. Nothing against the staff - just our personal experience. Do not, and I mean do not miss the shark dive - best money spent. Night snorkel was also fab (squid, lobster, rays, lion fish etc.). Reef and fish life is beautiful, you'll be sure to see turtles and sharks too. 5. Food - West Bay has great options as do the locations on the beach. There's also local markets and grocers everywhere in case you want to buy and cook at home. So we would do breakfast and lunch in the room making things very economical for us. We also bought alcohol with us and used to mix our drinks and go down to the beach. Sometimes we would go to the bar, the staff are super nice. So why is this not excellent? Nothing at all to do with the accommodations - more to do with the hotel. Service - very slow. We went in off season so I feel they were understaffed. But when available the staff were fantastic. Cleaning - during our 4 night stay we had cleaning once, we could have bought more but I would have preferred it come part of the deal. I recommend this place to anyone (singles, couples, families) and if in Honduras wouldn't stay elsewhere."

  • Beautiful, peaceful villa on Roatan's south side.

"Balsam Rock is a beautiful house with lovely views of the ocean. Our group stayed for 2 weeks total, with some of the group arriving later after staying in Copan or Guanaja. The on site manager Jorge was exceedingly helpful and his wife Berta made us an excellent local breakfast one morning. Everything was clean and the house was well supplied for cooking. Due a problem with the pump, the plunge pool water could not be changed (the pump had to be fixed on the mainland) so the second week the pool was a bit cloudy but Jorge kept it swimmable for us. The balconies are really lovely - and there is plenty of space even for a large group to stretch out so some can read while others chat and everyone has their space. The house is located away from any commercial area which we felt was an asset. Day trips were followed by evenings at the house. The first week smaller group did most of their own cooking and when 14 of us were there in week 2, we opted to have Stephanie and James of Roatan Sun Splash Tours do most of our evening meals. We also scheduled several day trips with them - and everything was top notch. The lowest level room (really an apartment with 2 double beds in the bedroom) was a bit musty when we first opened it but that abated as the rooms were aired out. The stairways do not all have handrails, so anyone with mobility issues or with toddlers in the group might prefer a different setting. Snorkeling in front of the house was OK but not spectacular. Snorkeling on Pigeon Cay, however, was truly fabulous, so plans day trip there if you like to snorkel. Overall Balsam Rock was a great place for a group of adults and would be fine for families with older kids. Our group thinks that the place is more suited to 10 adults than to 14 even though there is bed space for 14 if people don't mind 4 in a room with the 2 double beds."

  • Anniversary Trip

"We visited here for our 20th anniversary, one of the few times we were able to get away without the kids. We absolutely loved it! Spectacular location with everything we could have wanted. Fresh fruit for breakfast, our host stopped by the grocery with us on the way from the airport. Beautiful snorkeling just offshore. We were able to eat the grouper that we caught on the fishing trip. Couldn't have asked for more. We actually came the week of 12/19/2012 but I forgot to write a review until now."

Roatan Travel Tips

Roatan Travel Is a Popular Getaway Option

Roatan, one of the West Caribbean Islands, is situated off the north coast of Honduras. Although relatively unknown to vacationers until the last few years, Roatan travel has quickly been gaining popularity due to the spectacular natural beauty that can be found in the local area. As a result, numerous Roatan resorts have opened, providing travelers with more options when it comes to enjoying the best that the Caribbean has to offer.

Treat Yourself to Plush Accommodations with Roatan Travel

Before you embark on Roatan travel, you might wish to consider viewing the Caribbean resorts and accommodations that are available. This will give you a good idea of the range of lodging from which you can choose and allow you to make your travel arrangements well in advance of your departure date. If you would like to enjoy some of the many water-based activities that are popular on Roatan, consider booking a rental near the beach so that the ocean will be just a few steps from your door. On the other hand, if you want to be near the vibrant part of the city, consider looking for something closer inland.

Dance the Night away at Roatan Resorts

You will not lack for entertainment options at Roatan resorts. The local Caribbean resorts definitely know how to throw a party and the biggest party night is Friday night. That is the night for bar-hopping and enjoying the local discos. If you enjoy reggae and blues music, you will love the entertainment offered at the resorts on Roatan.

Hit the Water at Caribbean Resorts

Scuba diving is one of the reasons that so many people engage in Roatan travel. The range of scuba diving locations off the coast of Roatan is practically limitless. Whether you are a novice or a pro, you will find gorgeous reefs and interesting wrecks to discover below the depths of the water. If you prefer activities that are above the water, consider renting a boat for a day, taking a leisurely sail or engaging in some serious game fishing. Regardless of how you decide to spend your time, the various Roatan resorts and Caribbean resorts will welcome you back with luxury accommodations.
