"We visited Roatan during the rainy season and it was still one of our best family vacations. The Hummingbird House was beautiful and our contact for the house rental was very helpful. We received excellent instructions and suggestions for traveling to this island. Every detail from getting to the house, shopping around town, and communicating with the onsite managers went smoothly. The house was immaculate and the layout fit our family needs perfectly. The beach was beautiful and very private and the snorkeling was great! We had three generations with us and all of us had a wonderful time. We rented a vehicle; there was a mix up with our reservation (our fault, not the rental company's fault), and the only thing available was a 4 wheel drive truck. Turns out that was the best vehicle we could have had on the island! Highly recommend renting something with 4 wheel drive. We have been back home for a week and already planning when we can return to the Hummingbird House!"

"My wife and I, and three adult children could not have enjoyed our brief vacation more. Eric and Karen are very kind and helpful, incredible resources for information when needed. We opted to rent a Mazda pickup truck from Avis at the airport which worked very well for multiple trips to airport to pick up kids. Otherwise we just enjoyed the house and the beach just short stroll down the hill. We loved walking the beach to West End. Karen directed us to Denisse at Clearwater Adventures. What a joy! How convenient to have a snorkeling-Scuba-adventuring outfitter right out our backdoor.
The house is very comfortable. Sorry to admit, but we appreciated the efficient internet connections. We grilled the fresh fish and shrimp that "Jerry Lewis" delivered to the house. Ample dinning area for our family, always plenty of room on the deck. Seems like I should come up with some sort of negative just so people wont think I am on the payroll, but no, when we go back to Roatan, Orchid Breeze is where we will be.
I will say that if you are going to rent a pickup be sure you are comfortable driving a stickshift stopping and starting on steep terrain. I really enjoyed driving in and out of Orchid Beach but often thought about friends who don't know how to drive a stick and what a challenge it would have been for them.
Our heartfelt thanks to Karen and Eric, and a big hug for Denisse at Clearwater."

"The house is very nice, view is gorgeous. With the windows open for a cross breeze it wasn't really necessary to run the AC very much. Very relaxing to just lie in the hammock with a book. The kitchen is well equipped but the grill should be replaced. A few small maintainence items were taken care right away. It's not convenenient to the beach or town areas so for short stays if you want to just walk out onto the beach you should consider staying in town, but if you are staying longer and/or looking for peace and quiet I would recommend it however you may want to consider renting a car for convenience although taxis are easily available."

Quite little piece of Heaven with everything you need within walking distance!
"Everything was just perfect for us! We like to be away from the hustle and bustle. Sandy Bay is more residents than tourist. If you prefer night life, parties etc- then head or stay on West Bay/End. Snorkeling is amazing right our front, no need to hire anyone. Defiantly do a few dives with local dive shops. Theres 2 within walking distance, both good. (deep sea fishing and dives are literally a 3 min boat ride out) Good food/restaurants & spa a few steps down beach. Only place I really recommend you take a taxi or have Channin take you is to Little French Key. Just the pictures of that place are worth it! People who saw my pictures thought I was in a pool & not the ocean ! Daniel Johnsons zoo is a must. Trust me. =) The beds were comfortable. Everything you need in the house. We never needed to turn on AC. Safety is not an issue. I honestly think Roatan gets a bad rap because of the mainland of Honduras. There is a monitored alarm system ..if you do feel uneasy in another country. Plus Jimmy is usually on the grounds during the day- he helps maintain all the lush landscaping. Tip: Go no where without your camera- every time I did, I missed getting a picture of something Ive never seen before! Channin & Kimberly are the property managers, and he can take you on tours and anywhere you want to go. Suzanne was helpful with a smooth transaction and helpful info. Great people! Oh, and just about everyone speaks english on the island so there is no language barrier."
