"We had a fabulous vacation in Roatan and staying at the Mangrove Dock Penthouse was a big reason why. Hosts Jackie and Peter were so friendly and welcoming, as well as helpful and attentive whenever we asked any questions. Peter offered to take us out fishing on our first day, in which I definitely would have joined had it not been for the fact we were all in Roatan for a wedding. The rooftop deck had unbelievable views, as well as the main balcony. The showers and rooms were spacious and the main areas had a home-like feel to it. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The biggest benefit though was the cool breezes that we constantly were getting by being on the top level. In a hot and humid destination, this was huge. Using the AC would have been an added cost, but we didn't need it thanks to the breezes. We had incredible views of the sunrise and sunsets. The foot pool at the rooftop deck was refreshing to step into after walking around West End. And for anyone who wanted to take a quick swim, there is a nice pool on the premises to cool off in. So everything was great, the only drawback (and why I marked 4 stars instead of 5) being that our fridge didn't have the right temperature on the last 2 days of our week long stay. It could not get cold. A minor issue in the midst of many positives. I would not hesitate to stay at Mangrove Dock again!"Guest: Mr. Santos Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 10, 2014View listing
"Beautiful turquoise water views and walking distance to West Bay Beach- perfect. The Villa was so beautiful that we often forgot that we were traveling in a developing nation. Clean, comfortable and peaceful- exactly what the Doctor ordered. In all my travels I’ve never met such gracious hosts, Carleen and Marlin, you are the treasure of the island. If we can’t book again with you- we’ll get as close as we can!"Guest: CW I. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 5, 2014View listing
"We typically prefer to be right on the beach when we vacation. We weren't sure at first how we would like being off the beach even though it was close. Turns out that we loved it! This is Roatan's high season, and the beach was often crowded. It was so nice to walk just a few steps and feel the peace and quiet. Yes, the houses are close to each other, but we loved the atmosphere. There are so many trees, you don't realize how close you are to Infinity Bay, the busy beach (when several ships were in), or even the other houses. If you look at West Bay Village from a Google map, you'll see what I mean. The houses are hard to see from above because of the trees. The house was very nice. We especially loved the large shower in the guest room. We used it instead of the master bath. The managers were very easy to work with and were eager to help us with anything we needed. This was our third time to Roatan, so we didn't feel the need to leave West Bay to explore. We very much enjoyed a week of rest, relaxation, snorkeling, floating in the water until sunset, and eating at our favorite place (Foster's)."Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 16, 2014View listing
"This house is simply perfect! I am so glad the owners share their little slice of paradise! It is perfectly situated in the middle of the island of Roatan with a grocery store nearby to prepare great meals in the awesome kitchen with views that don’t quit. There are also great restaurants nearby if you don’t feel like cooking. The buoy out front is a dive spot for the island businesses that you get to enjoy at your leisure. We snorkeled twice a day from the dock and were amazed by the beauty. The property is managed by a superb local company, Blue Reef, who are at your disposal for anything you may need. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a vacation you’ll never forget, choose Far Tortuga. Prepare yourself to never want to leave!!"Guest: Debbie P.
