  • One of a Kind

"My husband and I and 2 daughters (10 & 13) stayed for a week. It was a varied and adventurous experience. We chose Casa Cowee to see more of the real island and culture, rather than a resort, and it provided what we wanted with security and comfort. While it was our 1st visit, I’d be surprised to find another property on the island as unique, exotic and full of beautiful views. It’s an older, spacious island home with lots of character. It was very clean and comfortable, especially the king-size bed. We didn’t spend much time inside, as the amenity that attracted us and proved to be as good as anticipated was the location-the unique home perched above the beach with the long dock. We jumped off the dock and were halfway to the reef. The water is as amazing as it looks in pictures and has abundant sea life. You don’t need to swim to the full reef to see plentiful fish and other creatures. If you’re brave enough to go outside the reef, it gets even better. We swam mostly inside it, but kayaks are easily tied to the dive buoys if you go out between the 2 Keys. It isn’t a completely secluded location and locals do use the dock, but you get the sense of seclusion at times with your height above the beach and gorgeous views. Anthony’s Key is just a short walk. As a family we snorkeled with the dolphins and our youngest also did “trainer for a day”–and I watched her at times from our deck! One of the best features is the expansive deck. Relaxing above the beach whether starting the day with café oro, reading in a hammock, or ending the day with a drink, the deck was the perfect spot for our whole family. There’s always an ocean breeze and you can watch the colors of the water change as the sun moves across the sky. We never needed A/C as the breeze was strong and the fans were more than adequate. The foliage was stunning with flowers everywhere and even fruit, and there’s also fauna: lizards, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, butterflies, tarantula, crabs and more. We walked through the local neighborhood to catch taxis and shop at the local tiendas and saw more of the real Roatan. Many people, transplants and locals, were nice and happy to share info. Jonny, the property manager, was helpful and interesting, as was James, the gardener. Down the beach there are two restaurants we enjoyed (Blue Bahia and Tranquil Seas). We did a dive with Octopus Divers and it was a great experience, as was their divers’ lunch. There’s so much to do nearby. One week isn't long enough."

"Belvedere and Casanueva is an absolutely perfect location! The accommodations were luxurious and the views stunning. We had the best week that we have had in a long time. Their referrals for the diving company were top notch. I just can't say enough great things about this property!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful villa on Roatan's south side.

"Balsam Rock is a beautiful house with lovely views of the ocean. Our group stayed for 2 weeks total, with some of the group arriving later after staying in Copan or Guanaja. The on site manager Jorge was exceedingly helpful and his wife Berta made us an excellent local breakfast one morning. Everything was clean and the house was well supplied for cooking. Due a problem with the pump, the plunge pool water could not be changed (the pump had to be fixed on the mainland) so the second week the pool was a bit cloudy but Jorge kept it swimmable for us. The balconies are really lovely - and there is plenty of space even for a large group to stretch out so some can read while others chat and everyone has their space. The house is located away from any commercial area which we felt was an asset. Day trips were followed by evenings at the house. The first week smaller group did most of their own cooking and when 14 of us were there in week 2, we opted to have Stephanie and James of Roatan Sun Splash Tours do most of our evening meals. We also scheduled several day trips with them - and everything was top notch. The lowest level room (really an apartment with 2 double beds in the bedroom) was a bit musty when we first opened it but that abated as the rooms were aired out. The stairways do not all have handrails, so anyone with mobility issues or with toddlers in the group might prefer a different setting. Snorkeling in front of the house was OK but not spectacular. Snorkeling on Pigeon Cay, however, was truly fabulous, so plans day trip there if you like to snorkel. Overall Balsam Rock was a great place for a group of adults and would be fine for families with older kids. Our group thinks that the place is more suited to 10 adults than to 14 even though there is bed space for 14 if people don't mind 4 in a room with the 2 double beds."

Roatan Travel Tips

Roatan Travel Is a Popular Getaway Option

Roatan, one of the West Caribbean Islands, is situated off the north coast of Honduras. Although relatively unknown to vacationers until the last few years, Roatan travel has quickly been gaining popularity due to the spectacular natural beauty that can be found in the local area. As a result, numerous Roatan resorts have opened, providing travelers with more options when it comes to enjoying the best that the Caribbean has to offer.

Treat Yourself to Plush Accommodations with Roatan Travel

Before you embark on Roatan travel, you might wish to consider viewing the Caribbean resorts and accommodations that are available. This will give you a good idea of the range of lodging from which you can choose and allow you to make your travel arrangements well in advance of your departure date. If you would like to enjoy some of the many water-based activities that are popular on Roatan, consider booking a rental near the beach so that the ocean will be just a few steps from your door. On the other hand, if you want to be near the vibrant part of the city, consider looking for something closer inland.

Dance the Night away at Roatan Resorts

You will not lack for entertainment options at Roatan resorts. The local Caribbean resorts definitely know how to throw a party and the biggest party night is Friday night. That is the night for bar-hopping and enjoying the local discos. If you enjoy reggae and blues music, you will love the entertainment offered at the resorts on Roatan.

Hit the Water at Caribbean Resorts

Scuba diving is one of the reasons that so many people engage in Roatan travel. The range of scuba diving locations off the coast of Roatan is practically limitless. Whether you are a novice or a pro, you will find gorgeous reefs and interesting wrecks to discover below the depths of the water. If you prefer activities that are above the water, consider renting a boat for a day, taking a leisurely sail or engaging in some serious game fishing. Regardless of how you decide to spend your time, the various Roatan resorts and Caribbean resorts will welcome you back with luxury accommodations.
