  • Beautiful Inside & Outside. Great Location..

"The pictures make this house look nice, but it is MUCH NICER than the pictures!! My brother in-law arrived before me and texted the perfect summary of the house "House is BAD ASS and AMAZING... way better than the pictures" We had multiple families and multiple kids in this house for two weeks. We enjoyed inside and outside. It has everything you need including someone watching over the house and you day and night. The house sits in a great location that makes it a couple minute trip by water taxi to the locations on that side of the island or a couple minute walk to zip line. From the owner to the people helping you on a daily basis you could not find anyone more helpful or friendly. They helped me set up a fantastic dinner with private chef on the beach including a fire dance. All I had to do was say YES and it was done with no worries. All activities were easy to book with the house and all you have to do is walk to the dock and get picked up to snorkel, scuba, fish, dolphin show, etc. Don't think twice. I don't feel you can find a better house on the island for the price and location. Don't think twice on this property. The house is excellent, the location is perfect and the people who are associated with this property were fantastic!"

  • Relaxation and peaceful

"This house was just what we needed for a relaxing week away. The house had all the necessities to cook, although we didn't while there. The opening of Neptunes restaurant just 100 yards away is a huge plus for food options. Otherwise we could catch a quick boat ride back to town for a meal. The diving right in front of the home is amazing. The home is perfect for up to three couples to stay or one large family. We look forward to returning to Utila and Casa Tranquila shortly!"

  • Lovely, Relaxing Vacation, Beautiful Property

"The house is lovely....very comfortable and stylish. The TV and Internet service worked perfectly. It was our first trip to Roatan, we came for a month long holiday and can't say enough great things about the island and this property! We hired the smallest possible car and were able to reach the house easily, as others mention grocery shopping at Eldon's works out really well... The pool and grounds are beautiful, and we settled in and just relaxed. Honestly, it was a perfect vacation! PS The ocean views are lovely....and if you make a 50% sugar water solution in the hummingbird feeder you will have hummingbirds visiting the deck all day long... And at evening there are lightening bugs! The house is true ocean front and the caretaker Miguel is on site to help out should anything come up."

"Nice spacious house on the windward side of West Beach. Comfortable with nice view of the ocean. Quiet neighborhood that is about 15 minute walk to West Beach. Actually made for a nice running loop from the house to the beach and back. The concierge was very helpful with car rental and making sure we were settled in. Check out smugglers bay and restaurant nearby, our favorite spot, great food and snorkeling."

Bay Islands Travel Tips

The Bay Islands are a number of Caribbean Islands to the east of the Central American country of Honduras. Lying in the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, this unspoiled tropical paradise offers a laid-back vacation spot with plenty of optional activities. The best known of the Bay Islands is Roatan which remains largely uncommercialized, although it has excellent restaurants and diving. Other islands include Utila, Guanaja and Cayos Cochinos.

Bay Islands Vacation Rentals Offer the Perfect Home Away From Home

Those looking to enjoy an island-style retreat will love a spacious vacation rental. Typically painted in pastel island colors and set in tropical gardens amidst bougainvilla, palms and exotic plants, many vacation homes have private swimming pools. Imagine waking to the sound of the ocean and having breakfast on the verandah while planning the day’s activities. With your own private vacation home, you can take an afternoon siesta, watch the sunset with a drink on the terrace and generally do as you please. The spacious bedrooms, bathrooms and cool living areas make it the ideal choice for romantic breaks and honeymoons, and for families who want their own space.

Things to do on the Bay Islands of Honduras

The activities offered on Bay Islands are varied and extensive. Water-based activities include kayaking in the calm waters or sailing, fishing, snorkeling and diving. The Bay Islands are in one of the most extensive reef systems in the world with excellent visibility. See many types of soft and hard corals, sponges, beautifully colored fish and marine life. Relax on the sandy beach or go searching for exotic seashells. Horseback riding along the water’s edge is a relaxing way to experience these idyllic shores, or head inland to explore some of the jungle areas. Take an eco-tour with a guide to see the natural wildlife of Bay Islands or take a dolphin-watching trip. Glass bottom boats are great ways to experience the diverse marine life on the reef. You can even island-hop or go cave exploring.

Bay Islands Travel Options

The Bay Islands of Honduras are very convenient and easy to get to, being just a two-hour flight from Miami. Sol Air connects Miami with San Pedro Sula on the mainland twice daily and there are direct connections to the islands of Guanaja, Roatan and Utila.

Taca airlines operate direct flights from both Miami and Houston to Roatan and offer connecting flights from Los Angeles, New Orleans and San Francisco. Once on the islands, it is easy to walk, cycle or use a local taxi or boat service to get around.

Places to Visit from Bay Islands Resorts

Roatan is a picturesque and unspoiled island with a hilly interior covered with lush greenery. The main beaches are West Bay beach rentals with its white coral sand beach, Camp Bay and Paya Bay. Roatan is known as a world-class diving destination and the reefs, the second largest after the Great Barrier Reef, are protected as a national treasure. The Cayman’s Trench sees the reef suddenly drop to a depth of thousands of meters and the occasional whale shark may be seen. Closer to shore, beginners can dive in the protected lagoon waters which have no strong currents. At the end of the day, head for the dockside bars and restaurants, and enjoy a cocktail while viewing the spectacular sunset. Roatan also has a small museum and botanical garden.

Mainland Honduras makes a great day out. Arrange a visit to the ancient Mayan city of Copán. The impressive ruins depict the amazingly advanced culture of the Mayans, centuries ago. River rafting is also a fun activity and a great way to navigate the wildlife of the tropical rainforest.

Weather and Climate in Honduras

The weather on the Bay Islands is different to that on mainland Honduras. The islands enjoy tropical sunny days with heavy rain showers at times. The wettest months are September, October, January and February. The islands’ high season is from February to April when visitors escape from the cold winter temperatures further north. The average water temperature is a balmy 29 C which is 84 F.
