  • MAGICAL, PERFECT, LUXURIOUS SNORKEL BEACH HOUSE FOR COUPLES OR FAMILIES ALIKE!!!

"When you stay at Pineapple House, you will experience the best Utila has to offer!!! With its spacious, tall cathedral ceiling in the great room, modern appliances, spacious bedrooms, sumptuous bathrooms, incredible wrap-around deck; Pineapple House has everything that a family or couple needs!!! It is perfectly described in the ad; Pineapple House is a perfect home! It is spotlessly clean, with warm, wood floors, and lovely furniture! The water is only steps away from the house! You can snorkel for hours right in front of your home in near privacy on pristine reefs that are filled with an array of fish and marine life. Every morning, my husband and I had our coffee on the lovely dock, and saw a myriad of fish from a moral eel to a small squid to a spotted sting ray swim by! You can enter the water from the beach, and step into a world of blue, illuminated by the sun, and perfect coral heads! Dozens of juvenile and adult angels, parrot fish, bait fish, puffers and so many more varieties of tropical fish will greet you just seconds away from the wrap around porch!!! Every morning we were greeted with the singing of the birds, and the sound of the surf! At night, you can look up and see a myriad of stars in the sky! Utila is reknown for its snorkeling; but we found the people of Utila to be its true treasure!! The people we met started out as vacation friends; but now are family, in our hearts! Dave and Trish Steffan were the perfect hosts; attentive to our every need, and always ready to schedule any activity that we wanted. They not only served as our guide to Utila; but also treated us as family. They were perfect!! Our boat captain, Mr. Herman, was incredible!!!! With his warm smile and perfect skill at piloting a boat; he made every trip special and beautiful. Mr. Herman made our trips to town, snorkeling at Water Cay and Turtle Harbor, our day at Neptune Beach, and our fishing trip the highlights of our stay!!! He is not only a one of a kind captain; but also a unique, warm, and caring one of a kind person. He, to us, symbolizes the beauty of Utila, with his warm laugh, great smile, and great perspective about life on Utila. If you go to Utila, you must meet Mr. Herman. He is very special!!! Native Utilians Alexander and Orlando, showed us the real beauty of Utila with their attentiveness, sense of humor, and story telling. You will never forget this special island or his beautiful vacation getaway, the Pineapple House!!!"

  • Perfect Punta Blanca Perch!

"I was traveling on my own & had a few days to kill before meeting up with Family on Roatan. This lovely little nest was a perfect pick. Nice & removed from the bustle of the West End, it is a great spot to just unwind. I didn't get to meet Wendy, but Lynn; her mother, was an absolute DOLL. While it might not be ideal for those seeking total seclusion, I found it really nice as a single travelin' gal to have such a sweet person nearby to give some Life to the place & also provide helpful suggestions. She will most definitely tell you the most fun places to go on any given day, if you are looking to enjoy some Local Flavor...which is always a fun-lovin' time! The room itself was so Bright, Light & Colorful that I felt right at home there. No problem with the Wi-Fi reception at all, which was a pleasure. Excellent kitchen for preparing your own meals, if that's what you're into. If not, I find that there are lot's of great places to be served on the East End. Temporary Cal's(BEST!), La Sirena, Crow's Nest, Paya Bay Resort & more. As for the driveway, I was regretting packing heavier than EVER & dragging it up & down the steps, but in the end, it was still fun & made me realize that I had just PACKED way too much! You WILL need to rent a car if you stay here, but if you know how to finesse it a bit, a 4-wheel drive isn't necessary. I assume that if you have made it this far to rent a place on Roatan, you can't be TOO uptight. If you are, there are definitely better places for you~ 'nuff said! haha At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed my days there & certainly think it's a great place!"

  • Beautiful condo, exactly as described

"This was our first visit to Roatan and we were very pleased with this condo and it's location. The condo complex is quiet and clean and located just a short walk to West End restaurants/amenities. The condo itself is large and comfortable and decorated beautifully. I really can't think of anything that we found lacking. The water dispenser was useful to have for refilling water bottles (2 full tanks are provided). The property management company was super helpful recommending activities prior to our arrival and then making sure we had everything we needed upon arrival. Overall, an entirely positive experience and we will definitely stay in this condo again on subsequent trips."

Bay Islands Travel Tips

The Bay Islands are a number of Caribbean Islands to the east of the Central American country of Honduras. Lying in the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, this unspoiled tropical paradise offers a laid-back vacation spot with plenty of optional activities. The best known of the Bay Islands is Roatan which remains largely uncommercialized, although it has excellent restaurants and diving. Other islands include Utila, Guanaja and Cayos Cochinos.

Bay Islands Vacation Rentals Offer the Perfect Home Away From Home

Those looking to enjoy an island-style retreat will love a spacious vacation rental. Typically painted in pastel island colors and set in tropical gardens amidst bougainvilla, palms and exotic plants, many vacation homes have private swimming pools. Imagine waking to the sound of the ocean and having breakfast on the verandah while planning the day’s activities. With your own private vacation home, you can take an afternoon siesta, watch the sunset with a drink on the terrace and generally do as you please. The spacious bedrooms, bathrooms and cool living areas make it the ideal choice for romantic breaks and honeymoons, and for families who want their own space.

Things to do on the Bay Islands of Honduras

The activities offered on Bay Islands are varied and extensive. Water-based activities include kayaking in the calm waters or sailing, fishing, snorkeling and diving. The Bay Islands are in one of the most extensive reef systems in the world with excellent visibility. See many types of soft and hard corals, sponges, beautifully colored fish and marine life. Relax on the sandy beach or go searching for exotic seashells. Horseback riding along the water’s edge is a relaxing way to experience these idyllic shores, or head inland to explore some of the jungle areas. Take an eco-tour with a guide to see the natural wildlife of Bay Islands or take a dolphin-watching trip. Glass bottom boats are great ways to experience the diverse marine life on the reef. You can even island-hop or go cave exploring.

Bay Islands Travel Options

The Bay Islands of Honduras are very convenient and easy to get to, being just a two-hour flight from Miami. Sol Air connects Miami with San Pedro Sula on the mainland twice daily and there are direct connections to the islands of Guanaja, Roatan and Utila.

Taca airlines operate direct flights from both Miami and Houston to Roatan and offer connecting flights from Los Angeles, New Orleans and San Francisco. Once on the islands, it is easy to walk, cycle or use a local taxi or boat service to get around.

Places to Visit from Bay Islands Resorts

Roatan is a picturesque and unspoiled island with a hilly interior covered with lush greenery. The main beaches are West Bay beach rentals with its white coral sand beach, Camp Bay and Paya Bay. Roatan is known as a world-class diving destination and the reefs, the second largest after the Great Barrier Reef, are protected as a national treasure. The Cayman’s Trench sees the reef suddenly drop to a depth of thousands of meters and the occasional whale shark may be seen. Closer to shore, beginners can dive in the protected lagoon waters which have no strong currents. At the end of the day, head for the dockside bars and restaurants, and enjoy a cocktail while viewing the spectacular sunset. Roatan also has a small museum and botanical garden.

Mainland Honduras makes a great day out. Arrange a visit to the ancient Mayan city of Copán. The impressive ruins depict the amazingly advanced culture of the Mayans, centuries ago. River rafting is also a fun activity and a great way to navigate the wildlife of the tropical rainforest.

Weather and Climate in Honduras

The weather on the Bay Islands is different to that on mainland Honduras. The islands enjoy tropical sunny days with heavy rain showers at times. The wettest months are September, October, January and February. The islands’ high season is from February to April when visitors escape from the cold winter temperatures further north. The average water temperature is a balmy 29 C which is 84 F.
