  • Unforgettable meeting of the fireflies

"We had 2 1/2 wonderful weeks at Sea Pool Villas and want to thank Brigitta and Jaw for that incredible time. Both were present whenever we needed something or had a question. Even in beforehand, long before the trip started the communication was very deep and we got many interesting information about where to go, what to do and (very important) that we should rent a 4WD because of the many dirt roads on Roatan. The villa itself, the whole ground and especially the sea pool with the palapas was beyond our expectations and the pictures never can show the real loveliness. Jaw brought us fresh friut directly from the garden whenever there was something ripe. In the garden there are so many flowers, the colours of the blossoms, the varieties of green (garden) and blue (sea) are just breathtaking. On some evenings you could see fireflies in the garden and one could have the impression of fireworks, it was so many - just unforgettable. The corals and fish you could see when entering the sea directly at the sea pool where so magnificent, we even saw some lion fish (we are just snorkling). We also didn't expect such a comfortable climate with rather low humidity and mostly a calm wind. The restaurants we can recommend mostly are Cal's (which is just 5 minutes away and has a great athmosphere and of course great food), La Sirena (at Camp Bay, incredible location over the water) and Gio's (at French Harbour, the King Crab is just fantastic). We would highly recommend thos domicile to everyone seeking a relaxing holiday with utmost privacy and a private direct access to the carribean sea. We are traveling around the world since more than 20 years and never had hosts like Brigitta and Jaw - thank you so much for that wonderful time!"

  • Mike & Leanne Oregon, USA

"Our first time to Roatan & we loved our stay. Our condo was very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. It is located on the quiet end of the resort and we enjoyed peaceful early mornings and evenings out on the balcony. Julie made it so easy for us by answering all our questions and additionally giving us lots of info on activities and places to eat. She is a wealth of knowledge concerning the island and quick to respond to questions you might have. The resort is beautiful and well kept with plenty of places to lay by the pool or lounge on the beach. The staff is especially friendly and helpful and quick to respond if we needed anything. My husband used Infinity Divers at the resort and thought they were fantastic. The snorkeling in front of resort was excellent also. We enjoyed it so much that we will be coming back!! Thank you again Julie!"

  • Great Place to Stay!

"My wife and another couple stayed here recently on our second visit to Roatan West End. Peter was there at the airport as soon as we arrived. The condo is great and the right price as well. This place is just a short walk to town for restaurants and plenty of dive centers. I highly recommend this condo for your stay at West End"

  • Relaxation and Adventure

"Guanaja is a beautiful part of the world, and Wilmont Bay is perfectly suited to experience it at it's best. The snorkeling at the door step is among the best we've experienced, as are the sunsets—two green flashes in seven days! Travel in Guanaja is mostly by boat, which is an adventure in its own right, and Jorge will happily and skillfully get you anywhere you would want to go. While you are not alone at Wilmont bay, one could hardly be call it crowded. In addition to the two Cabins, there's just a few private homes in the area. The cabins are well stocked with all the necessities for an independent traveler (full kitchen, shower, fans, even an air conditioning if you need it) and are quite comfortable. Both Cindy and Jorge are wonderful hosts, and will make every effort to ensure you have a great trip. Bonaca is a fascinating and unique city built on two small Cayes--well worth the visit included in your stay, as is the near by waterfall (not included, but quite affordable). A trip along the coast by kayak is also quite rewarding—depending on the day, you may not see another soul. This isn't the place to go if you want to lounge on the beach (sandflies will not allow that) and be served hand and foot (this isn’t a resort, which for us was a large part of the draw). But if you are looking to relax, explore a near empty coastline, and enjoy healthy reefs just steps away, this is a great choice. For us, it surpassed all expectations. P.S.—Though you can get along just fine speaking only English, at least since Mitch, many mainland Hondurans now live and work in the area. As such, we found a bit of Spanish went along way in certain circumstances. So we’d suggest, if it is not your first language, you brush up."

Honduras Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Honduras Vacation Rentals

The climate in Honduras varies in the different regions. While it is generally tropical, the weather is cooler and more temperate in the higher mountain regions. Generally, you can wear lightweight cotton clothing all year long. You will need a good rain jacket especially if you are traveling in the wet season. Make sure that you also have one or two warmer items of clothing if you plan to visit the highlands. Typically, the wet season is from May to October. Tropical storms have been known to blow across from the Caribbean, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The north coast is one of the most popular tourist regions; however, temperatures can get very hot and visitors are advised to use plenty of sunscreen and wear hats. The most popular travel season is during the drier months which are from November through April.

Activities and Attractions near Honduras Villas

Tegusigalpa has a beautiful historic city center. Colonial architecture can be seen in a number of the ancient buildings. Just outside of the city on one of the hilltops is a relatively new monument known as the Christ of the Picacho. From the monument site, you can enjoy great views out over the city. Another city that has well-preserved colonial architecture is the former capital of Honduras, the city of Comayaguan. Here you can roam the cobbled streets, visit the town plazas and see the quaint white-washed houses. Each year for Easter, there is a week-long celebration that is full of cultural festivities. If you have an interest in the ancient Mayan culture, one place you must visit is Copan. The Copan Ruins Archeological Park houses some impressive structures which give testament to the advancement of the Mayan culture. There is an Acropolis, the Court of the Heiroglyphic Stairway, and the Great Plaza.

There are several national parks and wildlife reserves where you can hike nature trails or join a guided overland tour. Canopy tours through the rainforest are quite popular. There are also various boat trips or kayaking excursions that can be enjoyed down the country's major rivers. There are also caves to go exploring. The beaches in Honduras are legendary and the Bay Islands are a tropical paradise. The coral reefs off the Bay Islands offer excellent scuba diving and snorkeling.

Getting to Honduras Beach Houses

Honduras is located in Central America just to the north of Nicaragua and east of Guatemala. The capital city Tegucigalpa is located in the southern region of the country. The nation's main airport is located just three miles to the southeast of Tegucigalpa. There are daily scheduled flights that operate to Miami in the U.S. For travelers staying in other parts of North America and Europe, your best flight options will be to get a connection via Miami. The airport is served by buses and taxis which can take you in to the city center. If you will be visiting the coastal regions, you can get a connecting domestic flight as this is the most convenient way to travel around the country. Roatan has a cruise ship port and many visitors arrive in the country here.
