  • Adventure on this beautiful island paradise!

"My family had a wonderful adventure on this beautiful island paradise! The natural beauty surrounding us was amazing! Cindy had arranged for us to fly from Roatan to Guanaja in a private Cessna piloted by David, and what a fantastic view of the island and the sea from the air! She met us at the landing strip with Jorge driving the boat and we headed to Wilmont Bay retreat! Our cabins were perfect - very comfortable, stocked by Cindy with groceries and everything we needed! Cindy treated us with exceptional hospitality and friendship, and always went the extra mile to make sure our time there was memorable! We spent an evening getting to know many of the locals and ex-pats at a festival celebration. We enjoyed delicious meals with Charles and Cindy. We spent time exploring the deep blue sea on the Nimitz with Captain Jackie. We made a trip to "town" by boat to restock groceries. Bill, an excellent instructor, led my husband and son on a recreational dive, while Cindy guided me and my daughter snorkeling through the magnificent coral reeds with endless, colorful and fascinating sea life! What an experience! We enjoyed a tasty lunch at Bo's Island House on a pier over the water. We hiked up to a beautiful and refreshing waterfall! ... Have I mentioned the spectacular sunsets? And the interesting animals and wildlife around our cabin including Angel, our guardian dog, playful and lazy cats, many singing birds and hummingbirds, chickens, ducks, geese, a small barracuda that was a regular visitor around the dock, and a captivating parrot! My family spent our last afternoon there, including Cindy and a friend we met, snorkeling through the majestic coal reefs right off the beach from our front door! That was the highlight of our island adventure! Thank you, Charles and Cindy, for your gracious hospitality ... we are ready to return!"

  • Living onto beach

"Initially we booked Blue Bayou Beach House for 5 nights. We were attracted by the location right next to the coral reefs and of course an affordable price. And we weren't disappointed. The house has a beautiful porch from where you can hum right into the corals. Just outside the house is a great wall with the most amazing corals. Lots of coral fishes. The house is a bit rustic, however charming. There is though one nuisance: Sand flies! You don't notice them, before it's too late. You don't see them, you don't feel, when they bite, but you will seen see the impact of them on your body. So be advised to take need precautions (repellents, baby oil,...). Before making the booking, we had a very positive correspondence with the owners, Deanna and Ed. Very responsive and very helpful. We felt confident throughout the engagement with Deanna and Ed. On the island we were welcomed by Mike, who is kind of a janitor, and he made sure we were put on a taxi (or rather a tuc-tuc) to take us to the beach house. Mike also made sure, everything was ok during our stay. Thanks a lot to Mike!! We enjoyed our stay at Blue Bayou Beach House very much, and we actually extended with it another 2 nights. There are lots of things to do on Utila. Definitely a place to return to...."

  • Great stay!

"Had a great time in Roatan at the Infinity Bay Resort. The driver was at the airport when we arrived. At check in everything was good we waited about 30 mins and went to our room. The room was very clean, comfortable and pleasant. I would return in the future and recommend you stay here."

"We were on Roatan for two months and had a great time. We stayed at this condo for a month & really enjoyed our time here. It has a great location being a block from west end with all the restaurants, bars, & shopping. The snorkeling is great in West end & West bay is a fun water taxi ride away. The unit has very comfortable beds and is well stocked with everything you need for a great vacation. We absolutely loved the roof top deck with the private pool & grilling area. I have never worked with anyone as accommodating as Caroline she is fantastic to work with. Staying for two months we had a lot of requests & Caroline went above & beyond to fulfill every one of them. We will definitely return to Roatan & will always book through Caroline. We can't wait to return!"

Honduras Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Honduras Vacation Rentals

The climate in Honduras varies in the different regions. While it is generally tropical, the weather is cooler and more temperate in the higher mountain regions. Generally, you can wear lightweight cotton clothing all year long. You will need a good rain jacket especially if you are traveling in the wet season. Make sure that you also have one or two warmer items of clothing if you plan to visit the highlands. Typically, the wet season is from May to October. Tropical storms have been known to blow across from the Caribbean, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The north coast is one of the most popular tourist regions; however, temperatures can get very hot and visitors are advised to use plenty of sunscreen and wear hats. The most popular travel season is during the drier months which are from November through April.

Tegusigalpa has a beautiful historic city center. Colonial architecture can be seen in a number of the ancient buildings. Just outside of the city on one of the hilltops is a relatively new monument known as the Christ of the Picacho. From the monument site, you can enjoy great views out over the city. Another city that has well-preserved colonial architecture is the former capital of Honduras, the city of Comayaguan. Here you can roam the cobbled streets, visit the town plazas and see the quaint white-washed houses. Each year for Easter, there is a week-long celebration that is full of cultural festivities. If you have an interest in the ancient Mayan culture, one place you must visit is Copan. The Copan Ruins Archeological Park houses some impressive structures which give testament to the advancement of the Mayan culture. There is an Acropolis, the Court of the Heiroglyphic Stairway, and the Great Plaza.

There are several national parks and wildlife reserves where you can hike nature trails or join a guided overland tour. Canopy tours through the rainforest are quite popular. There are also various boat trips or kayaking excursions that can be enjoyed down the country's major rivers. There are also caves to go exploring. The beaches in Honduras are legendary and the Bay Islands are a tropical paradise. The coral reefs off the Bay Islands offer excellent scuba diving and snorkeling.

Getting to Honduras Beach Houses

Honduras is located in Central America just to the north of Nicaragua and east of Guatemala. The capital city Tegucigalpa is located in the southern region of the country. The nation's main airport is located just three miles to the southeast of Tegucigalpa. There are daily scheduled flights that operate to Miami in the U.S. For travelers staying in other parts of North America and Europe, your best flight options will be to get a connection via Miami. The airport is served by buses and taxis which can take you in to the city center. If you will be visiting the coastal regions, you can get a connecting domestic flight as this is the most convenient way to travel around the country. Roatan has a cruise ship port and many visitors arrive in the country here.
