  • Absolute perfect vacation week with friends!

"We had the extreme privilege of being able to stay here as a vacation and staff retreat. The house exceeded my expectations and truly was a week that we will never forget. It was even bigger than I envisioned through pictures and videos and perhaps it felt this way due to the wonderful open air feel to the rooms and space. You can tell that detail and thought went into every aspect of the construction and layout. The house was perfect for a large group as it provided sufficient communal space but also enough space to be alone. The kitchen was great for cooking large meals and big enough for there to be more than one cook in the kitchen. We enjoyed the family style layout with the kitchen, dining room and lounge area all somewhat connected in the same room. The pool was amazing and we definitely utilized that at any time of night or day! Liz and Ephraim made us feel welcome and secure which really allowed us to just focus on having a great time. The house is a bit removed from any of the larger towns on the island but that was just what we were looking for. It would be an honor to return again in the future!"

  • Anniversary Trip

"We visited here for our 20th anniversary, one of the few times we were able to get away without the kids. We absolutely loved it! Spectacular location with everything we could have wanted. Fresh fruit for breakfast, our host stopped by the grocery with us on the way from the airport. Beautiful snorkeling just offshore. We were able to eat the grouper that we caught on the fishing trip. Couldn't have asked for more. We actually came the week of 12/19/2012 but I forgot to write a review until now."

  • Beautiful villa with exquisite grounds!

"We chose Sea Pool Villas to celebrate our 28th anniversary and were so glad that we did! The villa was beautiful, private, open and comfortable, and the grounds were absolutely first class. Brigitta & Jaw went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our stay and couldn't have been better hosts! Jaw delivered fresh fruit daily which was a special treat and both were so helpful in providing us with information about the island. The bird watching right off of our patio was wonderful and we even got to see a ray jump out of the water while we were eating breakfast! The palapas were a great way to relax and enjoy the true spirit of the Caribbean. Leaving Sea Pool Villas was difficult for so many reasons, but most of all, we felt like we were saying goodbye to long time friends, even though we just met Jaw & Brigitta 9 days before. Highly recommend staying at Sea Pool Villas while in Roatan."

  • Beautiful Sunrise Views over Utila town!

"The Round House served as a great base for our Utila dive vacation. This was our fourth time on Utila, and for this trip we brought two friends so we needed a larger place than we usually rent. The Round House fit the bill, and as a bonus offered great, easily accessible snorkeling right out front. The "master bedroom" included two beds and an en suite bathroom. Our friends slept in this room and it worked well for them, although beware unless the breeze changes direction from it's norm you'll have to run the A/C at night in this room. It's simply on the wrong side of the house to get a breeze when winds are blowing in the usual direction. However the A/C was cold and cooled the room down quickly. We slept in the "smaller" room, but it was still quite large and included a dresser and a closet that spanned the length of one wall so there was ample room to keep a week's worth of clothing, swimsuits, etc. It received enough of an ocean breeze that we ended up closing the windows and turning on the A/C just because there was a fine spray from the water. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, cups, etc. - one of the four of us cooked breakfast every morning and lunch every afternoon very easily. The Blue Bayou area is quite nice, home to several rental properties, and is one of the few places on Utila with snorkeling from the beach and a shore dive. You can walk right out from the beach in front of the house and see all sorts of cool things - eagle rays frequent this area and at night we saw a couple of octopi. I would say though you have a little bit less privacy than some of the other areas of the island and you also really are better served if you rent wheels of some sort (bikes, golf cart, scooter, etc) if you plan on diving with a shop in town every day. We always dive with Alton's, which happens to be the dive shop farthest away, but if you dive with Coral View or Laguna Beach you basically just have to walk across the street. Two of our party were able to rent tanks from Coral View for a shore dive off the house. You could also walk to Gunter's EcoMarine dive shop since it's not to far on the other side of the public beach, it would probably be around 20 minutes."

Honduras Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Honduras Vacation Rentals

The climate in Honduras varies in the different regions. While it is generally tropical, the weather is cooler and more temperate in the higher mountain regions. Generally, you can wear lightweight cotton clothing all year long. You will need a good rain jacket especially if you are traveling in the wet season. Make sure that you also have one or two warmer items of clothing if you plan to visit the highlands. Typically, the wet season is from May to October. Tropical storms have been known to blow across from the Caribbean, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The north coast is one of the most popular tourist regions; however, temperatures can get very hot and visitors are advised to use plenty of sunscreen and wear hats. The most popular travel season is during the drier months which are from November through April.

Just outside of the city on one of the hilltops is a relatively new monument known as the Christ of the Picacho. From the monument site, you can enjoy great views out over the city. Another city that has well-preserved colonial architecture is the former capital of Honduras, the city of Comayaguan. Here you can roam the cobbled streets, visit the town plazas and see the quaint white-washed houses. Each year for Easter, there is a week-long celebration that is full of cultural festivities. If you have an interest in the ancient Mayan culture, one place you must visit is Copan. The Copan Ruins Archeological Park houses some impressive structures which give testament to the advancement of the Mayan culture. There is an Acropolis, the Court of the Heiroglyphic Stairway, and the Great Plaza.
