"The house and views are incredible. We loved the chef Celina that the owner recommended. The driver she set up was great too, although neither spoke much English. The house had everything we needed, beds were comfortable. There are security guards every 100 yards or so in the community. The Aqua resort next door has a great beach and excellent massages ($69 hr including tax). The house is on a steep hillside (approximately 25 steps down from road) so I wouldn't recommend it for young children, no yard and no fence around the pool. The pool was clean but chilly, monkeys came down and drank from it at one point. The internet worked reasonably well, but not in the bedrooms - only the common area. We chartered a boat to surf since the breaks were too far to walk and we didn't have a car. It seemed expensive at $160 + board rental and they didn't take us very far away and the spots were all accessible by car. The place would have been difficult to find and I read in a blog that if you're involved in an auto accident in Nica that both parties go to jail until it's sorted out, so I don't recommend a rental car, use one of her drivers."

"This was our first trip to Nicaragua and we were looking for something with a great beach in an authentic Nicaraguan town. Casa Kaya definitely fit the bill. Josh responded to all our email quickly and our arrival and check-in went smoothly. The pre-arrival information was very helpful in finding our way out of Managua and to the property. We were met by the housekeeper Flora and the night watchman. This house has wonderful outdoor spaces for relaxing and the beach is sandy, very quiet and great for playing in the waves. The property is well maintained and clean and it felt very secure. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities to make a good meal and we used the outdoor grill also. The bedrooms are very basic. The main downside to them is the lack of closet space (so we lived out of suitcases on the floor) and the beds/pillows were not particularly comfortable but we all slept OK. Also there are no beach towels provided and there is no washing machine, so plan accordingly. There is a small store across the street where you can get a few basics but major shopping needs to be done in Leon. Poneloya is off the gringo trail and therefore there is not much available in terms of restaurants and activities. Leon and some of the other beach towns are easily accessible by car on well paved roads. As a side note, we were travelling with two children and never felt unsafe. We enjoyed Nicaragua more than Costa Rica and Panama."

"This vacation was awesome. We loved staying at the Pacific Surf House. The house has great views, an amazing infinity pool, fast internet connection and great sitting area where relax and chat with friends. Roger is super helpful, we had a problem with the TV and the same day he came with a new Smart TV. Gladys and Leo are friendly, discrete and hard working. Rancho Santana is one of the best gated community I've seen all these years I've been living in Nicaragua. It has two clubhouses with swimming pool by the ocean, restaurants, 5 different beaches, several surf spots, a small market, horse riding and tennis court. We will definitely come back again!"

"We have just returned from a great stay in Pochomil. The house was perfect for our young family (2.5 year old and 7 month old). The beach was a stones throw away, and deserted. It was so great to disconnect for a week, spend time at the house and enjoy the simple things. Highly suggest a trip or 2 to the fish market. Also the housekeeper and cook is fantastic. She made our vacation a true vacation...never having to worry about meals or spending nap time prepping dinner! Fresh mangos from the tree by the pool were an extra treat!"
