  • Awesome Home for a large group or wanting company over! :)

"Just wanted to say "Thank you" for everything! We truly enjoyed our vacation home... The house was great and Julio/Carmen were both so helpful. When we arrived Julio gave us a tour of the home and said if we needed anything to call him. Carmen had the house nice and clean everyday we got home. If you want to rent a vacation home make sure it has a pool. Granada can get pretty hot and its so refreshing to jump in after a day of activities. The house feels safe and so we did not worry about leaving our stuff there. The only thing is that we did come across two bats but that's common in Nica homes. We are not sure how they got in so make sure you have the door from upstairs closed at all times. All and all, I would stay here again and all my family would recommend it. :)"

  • What you see and more!

"My husband and I just returned from spending 8 nights at Casa Culebra. It was a fabulous experience for so many reasons. First, we were met by the Concierge, Elisha McKay, in town to review contracts, house information, etc. Then Elisha took us around the town of San Juan del Sur pointing out restaurants, markets, and shops that we might want to go to. This was all invaluable information to have. Also, Elisha had shopped for groceries for us, so that our first night and morning, we would be set up in the house. We picked up our 4-Wheel Drive Land Cruiser from John at Classic Cruiser Nicaragua and followed Elisha out to Casa Culebra. It was a challenging drive the first couple times -- no doubt about it -- but we greatly appreciated Elisha escorting us and bringing us into the property. The house is amazing. You just cannot get a sense of how wonderful it is from the photos. There is breeze coming from all over, so not only do you not need air conditioning, but we even had to put a blanket on at night. It was a wonderful place to be. We cooked most of our meals there --- picking up fish from the fish markets recommended by Elisha --- and bread from Pura Vida Bakery -- yum! Fruit and vegetables from the market in town also recommended by Elisha. We had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen. I think it makes a difference that this isn't just rental house..the owner also uses it, so you can see the care she takes in furnishing it. We were treated to wake up calls from the monkeys and a great variety of birds. I appreciated having the binoculars available at Casa because we forgot ours. It was great to have the pool too. We loved the beaches close by and also adventured out to a few south of SJDS. We will be back to Casa Culebra!"

  • Could Have Stayed Forever

"I wanted a vacation where I could just get away from it all and rest (all my others had been tours) and that is exactly what I got. The beach is spotless and beautiful and it was very quiet. I found the neighbors and locals very friendly. The town was close enough for any day trip or evening out for dinner, but far enough away to avoid any "city" hustle and bustle. The owner was more than accommodating with any request or question I may have had."

  • Rainy Season

"We enjoyed the property for two months during the rainy season of September and October. The rainstorms were short bursts which occurred mostly at night. Our small children ages 4 and 6 loved playing at the beach about 100 yards from the front door. The palm grove outside the house was also a nice shaded area. Mosquitos were a problem for our young children. We used repellent and bug nets during the night. This property classifies as adventure tourism. Expect power outages, an hour drive to a commercial area (Chinadega), and interaction with mother nature. The inconveniences were well worth the pleasant memories created for our family. We speak Spanish and enjoyed the many experiences of swimming, bogie boarding, canoeing, fishing, turtle preservation, Spanish study, and local friendships. We were able to do most of our food shopping locally. It took some effort to find out which house/truck sells what and when. I recommend the "water truck." It would fill our 5 gallon bottle for 10 Cordobas. We drank this water for two months without any illness. This home appeared to be one of the nicest rental/hotel along the Peninsula. We were cozy and dry during all weather with the benefits of a nice kitchen. It was situated on high ground closer to Padre Ramos. Other similar properties, closer to Jiquilillo, were flooded ankle deep with rain water. Many of the hostels closed for a few weeks to pump out flood water. We enjoyed the comforts of our 4x4 truck to make day trips. We also used the chicken bus on occasion. This area of the world is unique. We love the community and plan to return."
