  • A Surfer's Paradise ... and a Beautiful, Simple Home

"We LOVED Casa Maderas y Olas!! We stayed there for 1 month during July of 2014, and found it to be very clean, simple, and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the hard wood floors that kept sand to a minimum and cleaning a breeze. The washer was nice to have since we didn't bring much with us and needed to keep our clothes clean also. The king size beds were comfy and we liked that the two bedrooms were on opposite ends of the house for privacy. The large balcony overlooking the trees was a great place to relax after surfing, and the hammocks were awesome! Plenty of room for everyone to spread out! The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies for cooking, so we were able to save a lot of money cooking at home. Conveniently located only 20min from San Juan Del Sur, we enjoyed going into town for groceries and nightlife when the mood struck, as well as walking to our favorite pizza place- Munchies Bluues, which has the BEST pizza and atmosphere in Nica! For surfers, the location is perfect. Very close to Playa Maderas, offering waves for all levels of surfing, and very consistent surf. Small eateries are also there, so it was nice to grab some snacks and drinks after a great session. Overall, it was one of the best places we've stayed in our travels throughout Central America, and we can't wait to come back again soon ! Tony (property manager) was very helpful, answering any questions we had and making sure we were comfortable, and the caretaker that lived on property was VERY nice and helpful also. He even let us share his power outlet to charge our computers, as well as store our cold items in his refrigerator when the power went out occasionally (very common in Nicaragua). Excellent surf within walking distance... a comfy and beautiful home to relax in... in a welcoming and safe country. Who could ask for more?!! Casa Maderas y Olas?? We loved it!"

  • Great quiet place to hang in Nicaragua

"Overall, the place is exactly what we had hoped for: beautiful, nice, quiet, clean, friendly, and limited people. Beaches are outstanding, and the people are very nice. Our condo was in perfect condition, and the property managers were always available if we needed something. (Skip the in-house meal service, which was not worth it). Waves were not great, but i knew it was the off season. It was rideable, which is all i could have expected for this time of year."

  • Beautiful Home, Great Service!

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Selva for a week. Wanting a blend of relaxation, adventure and comfort- This was perfect. The ReMax staff was very helpful and always quick to respond with answers and helpful information. Laura and Joel were also helpful in our entire trip planning madness to give advice and tips on coordination. The house is beautiful, clean, breezy, and lovely. We cooked twice a day and the kitchen was great! While we would not change anything about our stay, here is a bulleted list of pros and considerations: Considerations: - Most days, the breezy wonderful air was perfect. Nights were quite hot. We adapted well after the first night. One should know that breezy does not mean your nights will be 70 degrees with climate controlled air. - If you want to be able to easily access nightlife in town, be prepared for a good 15 - 20 minutes on a dark bumpy dirt road (This would have been easier if Dollar Rental would have given us the automatic 4x4 I had confirmed 3 times over the two month lead up to our stay... But hey!? - Learning to drive a stick shift in Nicaragua was an adventure). Don't miss the signs!! - The pool was ridden with bees, and we couldn't use it. This was somewhat disappointing, but most days we either spent on the beautiful beach, or the beautiful pool at Pelican Eyes in town. Pros - Beautiful home!! --Designed so well to compliment the beautiful nature that surrounds it. The breeze is wonderful and we enjoyed the openness of the home. Also, while you are close to other homes, it feels very private with the way the windows and layout are designed. - Service! From before we arrived, Larua and the Remax staff were so helpful and easy to coordinate with. They helped us hire a driver to drive the car from the airport to SJDS, which I would highly recommend because there ARE NO MARKED road signs anywhere. - Location!! While the nights we spent in town made for an interesting drive back to Balcones, we loved that we could experience SJDS and feel so relaxed and comfortable when we returned home. - Beach! The beach that is reserved for Balcones is one of the best we visited in Nicaragua. It was private, clean, and had food and refreshments. We would recommend this home to friends! The love and eco-conscious thought that went into designing this property really makes it feel like home. We are looking forward to going back."
