  • Beautiful home!

"The house and views are incredible. We loved the chef Celina that the owner recommended. The driver she set up was great too, although neither spoke much English. The house had everything we needed, beds were comfortable. There are security guards every 100 yards or so in the community. The Aqua resort next door has a great beach and excellent massages ($69 hr including tax). The house is on a steep hillside (approximately 25 steps down from road) so I wouldn't recommend it for young children, no yard and no fence around the pool. The pool was clean but chilly, monkeys came down and drank from it at one point. The internet worked reasonably well, but not in the bedrooms - only the common area. We chartered a boat to surf since the breaks were too far to walk and we didn't have a car. It seemed expensive at $160 + board rental and they didn't take us very far away and the spots were all accessible by car. The place would have been difficult to find and I read in a blog that if you're involved in an auto accident in Nica that both parties go to jail until it's sorted out, so I don't recommend a rental car, use one of her drivers."

  • Outstanding Casa.

"We cannot recommend Casa Flor de Luna highly enough. Our stay helped to make our six days in Granada an exceptional experience. The Casa is well located, a couple of blocks off of the main road coming in from Managua and a 10-15 minute walk to Parque Central and all Granada restaurants and attractions. The house includes a garage which was ideal for our rental car. The main floor of the house has a spacious salla/living room, a well appointed kitchen with all necessary appliances and utensils. There are two very spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds (2 upstairs and 1.5 downstairs). It also includes three bathrooms with large shower stalls in each. All of the rooms have ceiling fans. The two bedrooms have AC but we never used it. We found we could sleep and relax comfortably with just the fans. We were frugal with lights and always ensured electrical items were off / unplugged unless we were using them. Our cost for electricity for 6 days was $8.37 but beware if you use AC and leave things on! The house is equipped with cable tv and Internet and very reliable wifi. The pool is a fantastic asset in the heat of Granada. It is very private (in the enclosed courtyard) and while small, it is ideal for a cooling dip. The decor is comfortable and the lifestyle wonderfully Nica. You are also only a few blocks walk to two grocery stores that, while expensive by local standards, offer a wide range of amenities including fresh fruit, veggies, meat, bread, cold cuts, cheese, wine and beer. What more do you need? The local agents, Heydi and Eric, are friendly, helpful and nearby. The cleaner and pool guy, Jenny and Javier respectively, are also friendly and efficient. This is a wonderful Casa and will help to make your stay in Granada special."

  • beast view

"We had a great time at this location, we rented a second floor unit which gave us better view and privacy. The view was fantastic all around, specially sunsets. The beach is 1.5 mile long, covered with extra smooth and clean sand which made very pleasurable experience to jog every morning. Also it is a good area for hiking and exploring of other beaches. Unit was specious, with lots of windows with ocean views, loved the master bedroom."

  • Tropical Paradise Discovered

"Our first trip to Nicaragua, and it won't be our last. We had a wonderful time at George and Karen's lovely spacious house, which would be just as perfect for a families travelling together as it would for a romantic getaway for two. We explored the safe and friendly island -- the natural spring-fed outdoor pool Ojo de Agua was a huge hit with our young teenage daughter -- and we loved the local Punta beach, and ate very well at the nearby lakeside restaurant, a beautiful short walk away in the moonlight. The locals were very helpful: just tell people you are staying at George and Karen's and you're immediately a neighbour, not just a visitor. The property is lush, although we were sorry we were just too early for the avocado and mango harvest. We biked, we swam, we saw the rodeo. We ate, we drank. We spent tranquil candlelit evenings with cold beer and wine on the big deck (we have infinitely more mosquitoes in Canada!) and watched dawn coming up over the farm from the upper deck in the mornings. Coffee and the dawn chorus; palm trees; beautiful birds, and a view to the lake -- all before breakfast on the deck and a morning snooze in one of the hammocks. The lakewater is deliciously warm, and the swimming is safe for even the little ones. If you can stand the excitement, there are plenty of lively bars and restaurants near the ferry, but then you have to get out of the hammock... It's paradise. The cost of living's extremely reasonable, and we were able to take a number of side trips off the island to the coast (San Juan Del Sur will give you all the nightlife you could possibly ask for -- and more), to the spectacular crater lake, Laguna de Apoyo, and to beautiful colonial Grenada -- but it was hard to leave our new island home. And the hammocks. Did I mention the hammocks? And dawn on the deck? And the soft dark nights? And cold beer from the fridge? Can't wait to go back. Save me a hammock. And a beer. I think I'll have a bit of a snoo..."
