  • A Hidden Gem

"We have just returned from a month of rest & relaxation at this awesome Nica property. The pool was fantastic, and the proximity to the ocean was amazing! However, the absolute best advantage of this property over other properties are Luis and Lesbia! Although they started out being the caretaker & cook, they ended up to be great friends. Luis met us at the airport & took over all the driving, grocery buying, touring, ATV rentals, surfing lessons, fishing, and overall problem solving. Without his help, this vacation would not have been the same! Lesbia is an absolutely fantastic cook and one of the sweetest people I know. Every meal was better than the last! Coming from the Midwest, we enjoyed seafood almost everyday. She also took care of all the laundry and cleaning. But what I will miss most about Lesbia is her beautiful smile and her kindness! This brother/sister team are the best! The accommodations are not luxurious but adequate. But as was stated in a previous review, who goes on vacation to sleep! Actually, I think most of my sleeping was done in one of the hammocks or pool chairs. The Internet was fantastic, & we easily kept in touch with our families. The beach was incredible.....private & great surf! Although I am not an ocean swimmer, it was greatly enjoyed by other members of our group. My favorite activity was the pool...always refreshing & well-maintained by Luis. From the pool, you have a great view of the Pacific! So, as the Nebraska winter continues to rage on, we are keeping warm with our wonderful memories of our Nicaraguan trip! Thank you, Jamie, for being so helpful along the way! We look forward to returning someday!"

  • Beautiful Condo Hotel in the Heart of Granada

"We stayed at Xalteva for 3 nights and wished we staying longer. The condo was clean, spacious, air conditioned and beautifully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the pool with plenty of chairs and breakfast was great in the courtyard. The property is gated and has security guards. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Ernesto took care of our tours and taxis and was helpful with maps and directions. We would recommend asking for Giovanni if you need a taxi. Because of the location we enjoyed walking to see the local sights and dine is some great restaurants. We also had the good fortune of meeting the owner Jay. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return for a longer visit next time. Jan and Mike Thunder Bay, Ont"

  • Rainy Season

"We enjoyed the property for two months during the rainy season of September and October. The rainstorms were short bursts which occurred mostly at night. Our small children ages 4 and 6 loved playing at the beach about 100 yards from the front door. The palm grove outside the house was also a nice shaded area. Mosquitos were a problem for our young children. We used repellent and bug nets during the night. This property classifies as adventure tourism. Expect power outages, an hour drive to a commercial area (Chinadega), and interaction with mother nature. The inconveniences were well worth the pleasant memories created for our family. We speak Spanish and enjoyed the many experiences of swimming, bogie boarding, canoeing, fishing, turtle preservation, Spanish study, and local friendships. We were able to do most of our food shopping locally. It took some effort to find out which house/truck sells what and when. I recommend the "water truck." It would fill our 5 gallon bottle for 10 Cordobas. We drank this water for two months without any illness. This home appeared to be one of the nicest rental/hotel along the Peninsula. We were cozy and dry during all weather with the benefits of a nice kitchen. It was situated on high ground closer to Padre Ramos. Other similar properties, closer to Jiquilillo, were flooded ankle deep with rain water. Many of the hostels closed for a few weeks to pump out flood water. We enjoyed the comforts of our 4x4 truck to make day trips. We also used the chicken bus on occasion. This area of the world is unique. We love the community and plan to return."

  • Beautiful home on a beautiful beach

"We spent three weeks at Encanto and what a wonderful time it was. Amazing house right on the beach with two awesome surf breaks. The caretakers Julieta and Antonio were wonderful and very accommodating with all of our needs. The whole house setup was amazing with three bedrooms in the main house and a detached casita with two bedrooms. We had multiple guests over the three weeks which made it easy with the casita. David, our property manager was so helpful in setting up transport to and from the airport, horseback riding, day trips, hooking us up with locals for fish and vegetables. It was an amazing three weeks and cannot recommend this house enough. We plan on going back next year for a month!!"
