  • Perfect in everyway!

"Wow! What a wonderful place! The photos don't really do it justice! Everything that is stated in the listing for this property was accurate except the view is so much more stunning than any photo! The home was spotless and everything in working order. There is also plenty of purified water on sight so don't worry about that. Jan and John were great in all their correspondence with us and so helpful! Be sure and take their recommendations for restaurants and activities as they were right on the target! Jan and John had recommended that if we go to Ometepe that we stay at least 2 days~We did not and I wish we would have. But we hope to go back someday and explore Ometepe again as it was one of the highlights of our trip. You just can't go wrong with this property!"

  • Jungle Paradise

"Upon our arrival at Casa Selva we were greeted by the sounds of the Nicaraguan jungle. The birds, howlers and insects provide a musical symphony that can not be described. The house is absolutely beautiful, elegantly decorated and well supplied (since we love to cook). If you are on a romantic vacation then you'll love the bedrooms with the hanging mosquito nets (which we didn't need for mosquitos). The most beautiful secluded beaches are only a 5 minute drive away so make sure you take time to visit. Don't forget to watch the breathtaking sunsets from the infinity pool. The picturesque seaside town of San Juan Del Sur is a 30 minute drive and has some great restaurants, grocery stores and gift shopping opportunities. The property is managed by the local Remax realtor and they helped us with a private guide (Francisco) for day trips to Granada and Ometepe. The people of Nicaragua are warm, friendly and always greet you with a smile. The Balcones property has 24 hour security and the guards were helpful and attentive to our needs. The road to Casa Selva is 4 wheel drive only and you MUST rent a car if you stay there. I recommend Dollar located at the Pelican Eyes Resort. We had a Toyota Hilux truck and were able to give the locals rides to and from town (that was fun). If you're looking for a secluded location with beautiful accommodations nearby beaches, toucans, monkeys, iguanas and the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen then this is the place to go."

  • Casa Nicoletta

"Our stay at Casa Nicoletta was very pleasant. The hill to get to the house is very scary, recommended a 4 x 4 vehicle. There's bees near the pool, but none bit us thank God. The view is magnificent. If the house had Wifi, it would be 5 star."

  • hidden gem

"My friend and I stayed here for a week and it could not have been more perfect for us. We felt safe with the 24/7 security guards and loved being so close to town. The property is tucked away into its own little private and quiet oasis - removed from the nightlife of downtown San Juan. The space easily accommodated us. It is clean and very well maintained. Although we ate all our meals out, the kitchen is fully stocked with equipment. We both took full advantage of the hammock right outside our apartment sneaking in little naps in between activities. Enrico was super informative in offering ideas for "must do" while in San Juan and was able to organize a driver, Allen, to take us from and to the airport. Allen was great he gave was so much information on the country and was able to organize a horse back riding adventure for us. I would go back in a heartbeat it's that good!"

San Juan Del Sur Travel Tips

Visitors to San Juan del Sur Vacation Rentals

San Juan del Sur is situated on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast. As a seaside resort town, it is one of the country’s most popular vacation destinations. Surfers from around the world come to ride San Juan del Sur’s beach breaks. Scuba divers are also drawn to the area’s amazing underwater treasures. If you are looking for a great beach vibe with beautiful natural surroundings then this is the destination for you. By day, you can explore or laze on the tropical paradise beaches and at night, enjoy the pulse of the salsa rhythms at the local night spots.

Legendary Style and Hospitality at San Juan del Sur Villas

Imagine glass doors that fold back onto a wide deck overlooking the bay, lush tropical gardens where parrots and monkeys watch you from their perches, or lazy days reading a good book in a hammock as you sip on a tropical cocktail. This is the life that you can experience at the luxurious villas in San Juan del Sur. Private, spacious and tastefully furnished, you can feel like you have your own slice of paradise. The warm local hospitality is evident is the small touches and finishes that will make you feel right at home. Many of the rental homes are located on the beachfront, meaning that it’s just a few steps until you have soft white sand squishing between your toes. For some villas, you will not even need to have a car as they are located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and beaches.

Discover Nicaragua’s Treasures from San Juan Del dur Oceanfront Rentals

One of the great advantages of staying in an oceanfront villa is that you can check out the ocean swell and wind direction from your deck as you sip your morning coffee. Decide on the day’s activities as you go along, with no rush or specific travel agenda.

Join a sailing cruise and explore the coastline from the ocean side. Enjoy a leisurely snorkel on the reefs when you drop anchor or relax on the deck and soak up the sun. Scuba diving excursions can be easily arranged and cater for all levels of divers. Several dive schools in the area can offer certification courses if you plan to stay a while.

For a fun day out, go on a tree-top canopy tour in the rainforest. Zip lines will take you from platform to platform and you can get to experience the forest from a bird’s-eye view. It’s a thrilling experience and sure to be a highlight of your vacation.

Horseback riding excursions are also popular. You can explore the foothills and valley behind San Juan del Sur on well trained cattle ponies. Accompanied by local cowboys, you can gain some insight into the lifestyle on a local ranch.

San Juan del Sur is growing in popularity as a sport fishing destination. Marlin, sailfish and tuna are regularly hooked in the waters off the coast. Dedicated game fishing charters are available with experienced skippers that’ll take you to the best fishing spots of the area.

Shopping in San Juan del Sur is a great experience. Bargain for fresh produce or crafts at the local markets or visit some of the downtown stores for fashion items. Restaurants and cafés serve tasty local and international cuisine and the warm hospitality will have you smiling in no time.

Seasons in San Juan del Sur

Because of its tropical location, it’s difficult to differentiate between summer and winter in Nicaragua. Rather, the seasons are characterized by the rainfall. The wet months are from May to November and if traveling anywhere overland during this period it’s advised to have a 4x4. Rain storms are short but occur almost daily and the vegetation is lush and green. It is during this season that the surfing conditions are at their optimum as the southern swells ride up the coast. The dry season is from December to April, during which temperatures are hot and it can get quite windy.
