  • Casa Colina Extraordinaire

"My sister and I stayed here in San Juan Del Sur for one month. Although, it it was the rainy season, it did not have any affect on our trip. This property is by far, the best property in all of SJDS. We spent many days walking and exploring the town and saw nothing as nice as this. The views are phenomenal, a private pool (which you will be very happy you have), and the lovely Catalina. She will cook for you, shop for you, clean for you and is wonderful. There is a lot of construction going on in this area in the way of new homes, so a tad bit of traffic and workers, however, very tolerable. The walk up the hill to the property is not for the weary. Doable, but by no means easy. We had a slight refrigerator problem, as our food was all freezing, but that was remedied quickly by the owner with a new refrigerator. Karen could not have been more helpful and concerned with any of our issues. I hate to give this property such a great revue, as I don't want you all to be there when I want to come back, but it is The Best in all of San Juan Del Sur and I did extensive research. You will not be disappointed if you choose this property for your visit."

  • Jungle Paradise

"Upon our arrival at Casa Selva we were greeted by the sounds of the Nicaraguan jungle. The birds, howlers and insects provide a musical symphony that can not be described. The house is absolutely beautiful, elegantly decorated and well supplied (since we love to cook). If you are on a romantic vacation then you'll love the bedrooms with the hanging mosquito nets (which we didn't need for mosquitos). The most beautiful secluded beaches are only a 5 minute drive away so make sure you take time to visit. Don't forget to watch the breathtaking sunsets from the infinity pool. The picturesque seaside town of San Juan Del Sur is a 30 minute drive and has some great restaurants, grocery stores and gift shopping opportunities. The property is managed by the local Remax realtor and they helped us with a private guide (Francisco) for day trips to Granada and Ometepe. The people of Nicaragua are warm, friendly and always greet you with a smile. The Balcones property has 24 hour security and the guards were helpful and attentive to our needs. The road to Casa Selva is 4 wheel drive only and you MUST rent a car if you stay there. I recommend Dollar located at the Pelican Eyes Resort. We had a Toyota Hilux truck and were able to give the locals rides to and from town (that was fun). If you're looking for a secluded location with beautiful accommodations nearby beaches, toucans, monkeys, iguanas and the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen then this is the place to go."

  • The Great Escape!!

"Our stay at Casa La Serena was a true escape and complete juxstaposition from the energy that came from SJDS. The support from Gabby, Laura and Shayla coudln't have been more helpful, from answering our pre visit questions, to taking us for a tour of San Juan, to helping us get familar with the lay of the land. If you plan on staying at Balcones for a few days be sure to stock up bc the drive back to town can take time away from your planned R&R. If you enjoy fresh seafood be sure to pick up some from fish/shrimp/lobster etc from the fish market at the pier in town. At Casa La Serena you will be immersed in the sound of slience so be prepared to slow down, shift into neutral and enjoy alot of R&R. The howler monkeys will remind every morning not to sleep in too late and that as much as you may think you are alone you aren't. There is a little establishment called Matildas on the beach near by where you can purchase some cold refreshments and a freshly prepared lunch if you need to recharge, or just enjoy sun and sand (Dont expect a 5 star restaurant, but a true Nicaraguan experience!!) If you want to spoil yourselves even more than you have up to this point ask about purchasing a day pass to Morgans Rock. They have a great restaurant, infiniti pool overlooking the ocean, we had the beach to ourselves (although most beaches in Nica are often like that) They have handfull of tours you can book so check out what they have to offer. There wasnt much to complain about, all in all you cant control the nature that will surround you on your stay but isnt that why you are booking this place?!! to immerse yourself into a suspended state of relaxtion and to be one with nature!! (don't panic the scorpions aren't lethal)....In the end enjoy relaxing in the infinti pool with a cold Tona as you watch the Sun Set over the ocean..what more can you ask for..."
