  • Exceptional

"We brought a group on mission trip here after working hard in northern Nica. We wanted something away from the crazy and different from normal tourist visits. We found it here! Our group did surfing, horseback riding, spearfishing, and a trip into San Juan del Sur. We had Theresa cook for us. It was really an awesome experience and the owners were very welcoming and helpful to us! Take them seriously on the directions and difficulty driving in, especially if you possibly may arrive at night. I failed to review the directions and just went off GPS. We wasted an hour in paradise. We hope to return for mission trips in the future!"

  • Casa Francesca - Beautiful House

"My fiance and I stayed at Casa Francesca for our honeymoon. We were there for 4 weeks and loved every minute of it. The house is gorgeous, pool even better, and the sunsets are incredible. Only downside is that there are lots of spiders and scorpions but it is something you deal with in general while in Central America so its not necessarily a criticism of the house itself. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a vacation a little off the beaten path!"

  • An Adventure Off the Beaten Path

"First Id say that the owners description was very accurate and helpful - this isnt for everyone and that is made clear. My daughter, son in law, and I (the mom) were here for 9 days and had a great time. Bodhi arranged for our taxi from Managua, rented us surf boards, arranged a volcano climb for two in our party, and was very helpful. Our taxi driver helped us get a cell phone ($15) on the street in the nearest city and stopped at the grocery store. He also took us to Leon for the day before we returned to Managua for our flight home. After that we bought things from peoples home (eggs, chicken, rice, beer), got things from the fruit and vegetable truck, had tortillas fresh daily, and fresh tamales delivered via bicycle. Hose, the caretaker and his family were extremly helpful even with our retarded Spanish. We ate at a little bar a 5 minute walk down the beach or road, cooked, and ate two dinners at Rancho Esperanza that were great (you need to let them know in the morning that youre coming). The beach was awsome with no other tourists - we helped launch baby turtles on their sea voyage, rode horses way down the beach, and kyaked in the estuary early one morning with a guide and saw lots of birds and learned why it is so important to the area. The hammocks under the thatched hut are a welcome relief from the hot afternoon sun and there is a wonderful breeze off the ocean all day. We have all lived out of the US at different times and found this property and area much to our liking. We had a great vacation!! Wish it could have started after we knew our way around as we did by the end - Oh well, thats the fun of discovery."

Nicaragua Travel Tips

Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals

In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.

Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.

If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.

Getting to Nicaragua Villas

One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.

Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals

The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.

San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua

San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
