  • Wonderful house and helpful owners

"My family spent a month at Casa Irie from mid December to mid January and we had a great time. The house is very comfortable and laid out very well for use by families. we enjoyed the foosball and the guitat which were nice touches and used the ipod dock for listening to music. The highlight of the place though is the infinity pool and the spectacular view of Nacascolo bay especially the sunsets every night. we would stand in the pool and watch the sun go down. It was beautiful. The caretakers, Ben and Grethyl was so nice and helpful and kept the place spotless every day. It really added to the pleasure of our trip. Of course Nicaragua has it's problems with infrastructure and power. Electricity was sometimes spotty and the road to the house required first gear on some of the hills. we had rented an old land cruiser and it was no problem. Still, that is no fault of the property itself and it only added to the adventure and did not decrease our enjoyment of our time there. The town was fun, nice places to eat and we made good use of the barbecue grill on the deck. The beaches were great. We often were the only ones on the beach or there might be three or four other people and we would joke how crowded the beach was. My grandkids got to see baby turtles hatching at la Flor beach and we spent a couple of lovely days at Coco beach, Hermosa beach and Marsella beach. My grandkids got to go ziplining, horseback riding and took surfing lessons. Rebecca, and Dan, the owners kept good contact with us by Email. The wifi at the house was excellent and they helped with any minor problems we had. I would have no hesitation going back to Casa Irie and would recommend it to anyone looking for a rental in San Juan del Sur."

  • Outstanding Casa.

"We cannot recommend Casa Flor de Luna highly enough. Our stay helped to make our six days in Granada an exceptional experience. The Casa is well located, a couple of blocks off of the main road coming in from Managua and a 10-15 minute walk to Parque Central and all Granada restaurants and attractions. The house includes a garage which was ideal for our rental car. The main floor of the house has a spacious salla/living room, a well appointed kitchen with all necessary appliances and utensils. There are two very spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds (2 upstairs and 1.5 downstairs). It also includes three bathrooms with large shower stalls in each. All of the rooms have ceiling fans. The two bedrooms have AC but we never used it. We found we could sleep and relax comfortably with just the fans. We were frugal with lights and always ensured electrical items were off / unplugged unless we were using them. Our cost for electricity for 6 days was $8.37 but beware if you use AC and leave things on! The house is equipped with cable tv and Internet and very reliable wifi. The pool is a fantastic asset in the heat of Granada. It is very private (in the enclosed courtyard) and while small, it is ideal for a cooling dip. The decor is comfortable and the lifestyle wonderfully Nica. You are also only a few blocks walk to two grocery stores that, while expensive by local standards, offer a wide range of amenities including fresh fruit, veggies, meat, bread, cold cuts, cheese, wine and beer. What more do you need? The local agents, Heydi and Eric, are friendly, helpful and nearby. The cleaner and pool guy, Jenny and Javier respectively, are also friendly and efficient. This is a wonderful Casa and will help to make your stay in Granada special."

  • The comforts of home with the vacation atmosphere

"Our family (kids 15/13) spent 7 nights at Casa La Selva and had an absolutely wonderful time. James took excellent care of us along with David and Nelson (great day trip to Granada guys!). And who can forget Giselle, she is the most wonderful cook and took great care of us to make sure we were well fed and happy. I was not sure how the fully catered option was going to work but after the week there is no other way to go trust me. Well worth it to work the details with James and enjoy the weather and surf. Also be sure to arrange for James to secure transportation for you from the airport, no way I would want to navigate that on my own. I am adventurous but why stress out! The ocean is just a short 2 minutes walk from the pool and you have absolutely miles of beach and surf adventure with very few others around. It was great to watch the surfers and do a little boogie boarding and take the walk down the beach to the beach club for a Tona and some Nachos. I also would highly suggest a day trip to Granada, what a wonderful and historic city with plenty to do. David and Nelson were wonderful hosts. If your kids are happy with hanging out and relaxing this is the place, probably not so much if your kids are always looking to be entertained. It is somewhat remote but a truly wonderful and relaxing time with 5 star hosts."

  • So Great!

"Just loved this place and Nicaragua as a whole. We're huge fans of C. Rica (and always will be) but this little piece of Nica paradise was perfect for us. Owner Mark and manager Buzz were the best - everything EXACTLY as promised. My teens' reaction upon seeing the beautiful condo, killer view, big screen TV and WiFi service better than our home? "Mom - you gotta find us more places like this for vacations!" It only got better with Pili's excellent food at the cafe and Esteban's killer pina coladas/smoothies. Ricki and Jarvin rounded out the excellent service at our small but oh so perfect cafe/bar/pool a stone's throw from the condo's back porch. Hubby couldn't decide whether to golf first and then surf or vice versa. Did plenty of both - the 9 hole course is beautifully maintained and you MUST tee off the blues on hole 7 - the view is the best of most golf courses short of the big famous ones. Didn't take advantage of so much that we could have - fishing, fresh seafood delivered to our door (well, who was I to compete with Pili's cooking?), pangas to other surf spots.... but we had to save something for next trip! Carolina cleaned the condo for 3 - 4 hours every other day and washed, dried and folded our clothes. Maxi Pali grocery store in Rivas has all supplies necessary for self-sufficiency. Road is paved almost to Playa Gigante turnoff - 1/4 mile of progress every week! Massage by Miriam - in the condo - heaven. Buzz will arrange. The breeze was consistent and wonderful - way fewer bugs than at our family farm in Kansas. Sadly, the ongoing drought in Nica made for great weather for our stay, but everything is still very, very lush compared to our home in SoCal. Loved the howler monkeys we heard every night and every morning in the hills to the south of the river - and one little guy who visited one day in the tree next to the condo. Incredibly brilliant blue and orange crabs in hundreds of holes under the trees. Bird sounds that we miss very much. And the beach - our very own. My teens spent hours body surfing, collecting shells, exploring tide pools at south end of the beach. Never, ever saw more than 5 people there at one time. Even in front of the break, a huge crowd was maybe 12 people on the beach. Based on our observations of the level of activity EVERYwhere in Nica, this kind of private paradise will fast disappear. We will be back soon!"

Nicaragua Travel Tips

Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals

In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.

Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.

If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.

Getting to Nicaragua Villas

One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.

Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals

The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.

San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua

San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
