  • A Hidden Gem

"We have just returned from a month of rest & relaxation at this awesome Nica property. The pool was fantastic, and the proximity to the ocean was amazing! However, the absolute best advantage of this property over other properties are Luis and Lesbia! Although they started out being the caretaker & cook, they ended up to be great friends. Luis met us at the airport & took over all the driving, grocery buying, touring, ATV rentals, surfing lessons, fishing, and overall problem solving. Without his help, this vacation would not have been the same! Lesbia is an absolutely fantastic cook and one of the sweetest people I know. Every meal was better than the last! Coming from the Midwest, we enjoyed seafood almost everyday. She also took care of all the laundry and cleaning. But what I will miss most about Lesbia is her beautiful smile and her kindness! This brother/sister team are the best! The accommodations are not luxurious but adequate. But as was stated in a previous review, who goes on vacation to sleep! Actually, I think most of my sleeping was done in one of the hammocks or pool chairs. The Internet was fantastic, & we easily kept in touch with our families. The beach was incredible.....private & great surf! Although I am not an ocean swimmer, it was greatly enjoyed by other members of our group. My favorite activity was the pool...always refreshing & well-maintained by Luis. From the pool, you have a great view of the Pacific! So, as the Nebraska winter continues to rage on, we are keeping warm with our wonderful memories of our Nicaraguan trip! Thank you, Jamie, for being so helpful along the way! We look forward to returning someday!"

  • Great Place

"I've been staying in this casita for 7yrs. Always clean, great location, and absolutely worry free. Great room set up, and perfect for kids. Some of the houses in Rancho can be a bit challenging for young ones with the elevation, and cliffs. Don't forget to tip the maid."

  • Fabulous Accomodations!

"My husband and I stayed a month at Casa Anita and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Casa Anita was a perfect setting to experience Granada. The home itself is beautiful and the location could not have been better. We loved the fact that you can easily walk everywhere and the nearby market and grocery store was a real plus! The kitchen accomodated our desire to cook and we loved a dip in the pool to cool off in the afternoons. The restaurants in Granada are terrific with our favorites being Pita Pita and The Garden Cafe. The nearby bus stop was great as we ventured to Masaya on the "chicken bus" several times during our stay. For those with extra time, a morning trip with La Esperanza, a local NGO, is an eye-opening experience and provides an insight into the needs of the rural folks. We fell in love with this lovely town and Casa Anita provides a wonderful setting in which to enjoy the culture of Granada!"

  • An amazing location...

"Me and a friend stayed at Margaret's house for 10 days in March. First of all, it's a really nice and clean house! Everything we needed was there, and then some more. The open kitchen is amazing and so is the outdoor living room. The rooms are big and the beds comfortable. With the fans and the AC it's not too warm at night. So, as far as the house is concerned, everything was perfect. Then there's the location!!! The beach is close, really close... Like 20 seconds walk close... It's not a big beach at all. It's quite small and there's not much to do. Only 2 little restaurants/bars and a surf rental place. But, that is exactly what we were looking for so it was perfect for us. Not a lot a people during the week days (mostly other tourists coming from San Juan for the day to learn how to surf... They are usually gone by 5pm and then the beach gets really quiet for the night). We noticed that there was a lot more people during the weekends but maybe it was just a coincidence (and by a lot more people I mean 25 people max)! The water is perfect if you want to learn how to surf... The waves are not to big but not small either. We've met some really nice local kids who were more than happy to give us some tips! And as for the owners and the housekeepers they were all REALLY nice and accommodating. We got to see Margaret pretty much everyday. She answered all of our questions and was really helpful. I made a mistake when I first made the reservation and she was really accommodating and nice about it. As for Francisco and Flor, they are really nice as well. They helped us make local calls and they were there every time we needed something. The only downside is that the house is a bit far from the city (15 minutes cab ride, about $15 one way). But as I said earlier we were there to enjoy a quiet and warm beach, so we didn't really go to San Juan that often. If you want to visit the area and go out to San Juan often, I definitely suggest renting a car. If you are worried about the weather you can stop right now. It was sunny and +35 everyday. A bit windy at times but it's a good thing because if not it would be almost too warm (if there's such a thing!). Thanks for a great vacation!!!"

Nicaragua Travel Tips

Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals

In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.

Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.

If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.

Getting to Nicaragua Villas

One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.

Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals

The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.

San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua

San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
