"Our stay here was amazing. Everything from howler monkey's, zip lining in San Juan Del Sur and hiking to Gigante. The house, views, weather and accommodations exceeded our expectations. The house Mgr. Wadolfo was also exceptional. He was amazing. He took care of anything we needed from food to entertainment. I highly recommend this house for your next adventure. You'll love it!!"Guest: Kimmy Date of Stay: April 2014 Review Submitted: May 19, 2014View listing
"Hi, I stayed at Casa Gallo recently with two friends and a four-year old. The house is gorgeous with wonderful amenities.(books, music, hammocks, gardens, rocking chairs, AC's, phones, laundry room, chaise lounges, filtered water, etc.) Jose and Maria-Elena were so friendly and accommodating. The day we arrived they were at the house waiting to greet us. Every afternoon ,we used the pool which was wonderful especially with a youngster. One morning Maria-Elena made us a delicious breakfast that lasted several days. Jose took me to Mombacho Volcano and we even saw a sloth in the forest. The location is perfect and a short walk to the center of Granada. I would highly recommend this home for everyone. Don't miss a visit to the tortilla lady in Parque Central or a class at the Chocolate Museum down the street. The lady gets there around 5:00 and makes the most delicious tortillas with Nica cheese. It was our appetizer almost every night. The photos on the website is exactly what you get. Thank you Richard and Trudy for sharing your beautiful home! "My boyfriend, daughter and I stayed at Villa Oro for a week in Nica. We had an amazing time. The home was better in person. We arrived at the house and it was very clean. The owner was very helpful at answering every question I had about the home and our surroundings. The home is beautiful and the people are so kind. The location of the house is not even ten minutes from the downtown area. We had privacy and didn't feel bothered at all.. I've been home for about a week now and all I keep thinking about is being there. I would definitely consider going back tomorrow. Villa Oro allowed us to have an amazing/memorable vacation. Till next year!!!"Guest: Braza Date of Stay: April 2014 Review Submitted: April 21, 2014View listing
"PROS: -House was perfect for two couples. -Loved the kitchen and open living/dining room design. -On-site property managers were pleasant and attentive. -We regularly purchased cokes-in-bottles from Flor. -Very short walk to a nice beach that we enjoyed. -Beautiful sunsets from the bar/restaurants steps from the house. -Very short drive to SJDS and grocery store. -Fun day trip to Playa Coco (45 minute drive on very rough road) CONS: (Keep in mind that you are visiting Nicaragua, not Hawaii, so certain aspects (e.g. the smell of burning trash) are unavoidable.) -Air conditioning unit was in one bedroom, the other bedroom got pretty hot even though we turned the A/C unit on around 4PM and left both bedroom doors open. -Barbed-wire fence gate leading to property was a bit of hassle to open and close, and slightly dangerous. But you see this kind of gate/fence all over Nicaragua. -Also, the directions for getting to the house were a little unclear once we got to the driveway, since the "gate" just looks like a normal fence. -They're building a house next door so construction noise was very audible. -Two mice in the kitchen, one found in a cupboard (dead) and one seen running around (alive). All of these "CONS" didn't really detract from the wonderful time we had a Mar y Sol, but I thought they deserved mentioning. I will also say that I was a bit nervous about crime in the area after reading different reports online, however we didn't have a single problem during our week-long stay at Mar y Sol. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!"Guest: Jefe Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 19, 2014View listing
Nicaragua Travel Tips
Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals
In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.
Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.
If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.
Getting to Nicaragua Villas
One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.
Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals
The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.
San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua
San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
