  • Amazing Place. Catalina was wonderful!

"Went for a yearly trip with two of my friends to San Juan del Sur. We could not have had a better time. All of the people we met were amazing, and the house was beautiful (way too big for 3 people). The infinity pool has a great view, and the hammocks got a lot of use. The only thing I might change would be to put steps up to the pool as the steep path could be a little slippery if you are as uncoordinated as I am. Catalina is the chef that the owner recommended for us, and she was fantastic. She always went the extra mile whenever we needed anything. Don't let her fool you, she speaks English pretty well! Jess who lives in the casita near the house was also really helpful and fun. I highly reccomend Casa Suenos, and would stay there again if I ever come back."

  • Wonderful Holiday Vacation

"I stayed at Casa Mono for Christmas 2014 and it was everything that all of the reviews say -- beautiful, peaceful, and wonderful (honestly, I'm not sure that the pictures even do it justice!). The house is really a series of structures "connected" by one continuous "roof"/covering. One of the things that is so wonderful about this layout is that it centers around the outdoor space. Additionally, it allows for people to be in the bedrooms and/or the kitchen area and/or the living room area while still feeling like you have your own space. The complex is very well run -- very present 24 hour security and very helpful maintenance crew who were attentive -- and the owners made the booking easy. The office manager at ReMax, Gabby, was really above and beyond, including helping us coordinate our lost luggage on Christmas Eve! Overall it was a wonderful vacation and I hope to be back soon!"

  • Great Place for Families!

"Hacienda Iguana is a wonderful place for families. This was our second trip and it didn't disappoint. We stayed for over a month and the Villas were perfect accommodation, steps from the beach and pool. We were there with our five year old, who had a blast swimming in the ocean and cruising in the golf cart looking for monkeys, lizards and cool birds. The surf was great. The ocean cleared up enough a few days to snorkel out front and saw tons of species. The tide pools at the end of the beach were cool everyday. For us, it was great to have a car and get out of the complex to visit sights. Rob was great, helping us with anything we needed. Counting the days until we are back."

  • Perfect Taste of Nicaragua!

"We originally wanted to stay at CASAMARI, however some of our family could not join us. Maritiza offered us a two bedroom condo as an alternative on the ground floor of this property. It was a perfect solution. Mari kept the communication and arrangements ahead of time so we felt secure in vacation stay. Upon arrival, Raul was there to greet us and show us around. The small condo was just fine for us (husband and his parents). The property is located just up a few streets from town, great for walking around, going to dinner...we felt very safe. The condo had everything we needed...mainly air conditioning! We sat outside by the pool, enjoying the view. There were two other condo's downstairs...one with a lovely couple and another unit with a lady that would not say hello or smile. I was originally reluctant to rent with three units downstairs and one upstairs sharing the pool, but really we did not see other tenants much during our stay. The upstairs three bedroom unit was really nice, I would want to stay there next time I visit SJDS. This location really is perfect for being close to town."

Nicaragua Travel Tips

Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals

In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.

Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.

If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.

Getting to Nicaragua Villas

One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.

Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals

The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.

San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua

San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
