"This was the perfect destination for our family! We are a famliy of 5 with 3 very small kids. We were looking for a place that would be safe for the kids and this was it! The property is directly on an amazing putting green which no one uses so it felt like we had our own enormous personal backyard. Within a minutes walk we were at an amazing infinity pool which our kids swam in for about 3 hours a day. They learnt to swim on this holiday which was great! The food at pili's place directly on the beach by the pool was some of the best food we tasted while in Nicaragua. Ideal if you don't feel like cooking. Everything you need is within the complex of Hacienda Iguana so you never have to leave apart for the weekly shop to Rivas for groceries. We stayed here for a month and only left to get groceries. We also decided against hiring a car and we were pleased we did. When we needed to go for a shop we used the local taxi service and saved ourselves a lot of money. Once we were here we didn't want to leave! The condo itself was perfect! Great kitchen facilities, entertainment, comfy beds, AC, and decor! Some of our Family members asked us when we returned if one month was too long... our answer .....definitely not we just wish it could have been longer!!!"Guest: Sarah S. "The Casa Colina was wonderful. This was a girls getaway. The house has everything you need, is spotlessly clean, King size beds are very comfortable, and you should definitely have Katalina cook for you, we had 3 meals prepared and she was top notch! I run several restaurants and can tell you that she is on par with my chefs! You will have left overs as well! We had Beef Tenderloin, lobster, mahi mahi and chicken. The hill is very steep, but you can take a cab if its too much for you to walk up, about 150 cords. We walked down, and took a cabs home. The wifi didn't work, I think they need a new box, they checked it out, but couldn't get it up and going. If you bring a laptop you can hardware in. If you use an Ipad or tablet, a walk into town for you. All the restaurants and cafe's in town have wifi so its not a deal breaker by any means. Harry the property manager arranged rides for us to different beaches, Hermosa and Maderas and we swam and watched some surfing. We had the best fish taco's ever at Maderas beach. Both beaches have a restaurant and bar. Lots to do, we chose to hang out, sample the local restaurants, make daqairies in house and swing on the hammocks at night. The price is right for this location, the food in town is very good. Service is exceptional. I felt safe, we even slept with the doors to the bedrooms wide open. You will need to adjust to the barking dogs, and Egg Horn Foghorn Roosters, but that was only the first night it woke me up, and because it was our choice to sleep with doors open. I have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone."Guest: Susan M. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 8, 2014View listing
"Wow! What a wonderful place! The photos don't really do it justice! Everything that is stated in the listing for this property was accurate except the view is so much more stunning than any photo! The home was spotless and everything in working order. There is also plenty of purified water on sight so don't worry about that. Jan and John were great in all their correspondence with us and so helpful! Be sure and take their recommendations for restaurants and activities as they were right on the target! Jan and John had recommended that if we go to Ometepe that we stay at least 2 days~We did not and I wish we would have. But we hope to go back someday and explore Ometepe again as it was one of the highlights of our trip. You just can't go wrong with this property!"Guest: Bookwoman44 Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: April 11, 2014View listing

Nicaragua Travel Tips
Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals
In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.
Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.
If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.
Getting to Nicaragua Villas
One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.
Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals
The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.
San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua
San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
