"As my family lives up and down the east coast we get together once a year for xmas and new years. This year was special as my dad turned 75 and me and my brother wanted to take him to a destination that he and my mother would not visit on thier own. There were ten of us with 4 childern between 10-15years of age We picked San Juan Del sur in Nicaragua Let me just say- We loved it here. Our Host Keith was awesome. Due to the distance and the fact there we had never seen the place there was some trepediation. But let me just say that it was unwarranted. The house/ the place the amenities all lived up to the billing and we could not have asked for a more concerned and reponsive host than Keith. Most times he would reply within an hour or less to any question or concern we had. Plus everybody in town knows him. He is like royalty so you get some of that rubbed off in the way your treated by the locals as well. Surfing at hermosa/ going for horseback rides on kieths farms , visiting volcanoes, seeing grenada the oldest central american city, fishing on xmas day and catching black tuna/ white tuna/ mackrel and red snapper and two hours later having the cook fry that up for us for xmas dinner.. cannot get better than that. Drinking tona in town, visiting the super pali all of it.. I cannot say enough about Nicaragua and our host Keith. If you are planning a trip to see the true nicaragua I would highly recommend this place as your base for a great and exciting vacation and getaway. The re-entry to work life this week has been brutual to say the least and i desperately miss nica-time-- which if you visit nicaragua you will be familiar with. My younger son who loves school said upon his return to the US that he wants to go back and not go to school, where if you knew him it would shock you to hear those words .. Thats how good it was. One of the best vacations me and my family have taken. Highly recommended. Nimo Salem, NH"Guest: nimo Date of Stay: December 2014 Review Submitted: January 6, 2015View listing
"The Villa Noche is extremely beautiful! The pictures don't make justice to this place. The views are spectacular and the staff is extremely nice. We wanted to thank Jose-Antonio for his service, he is very nice, always makes sure you have everything you need and basically became our friend! Also, Memo was extremely helpful, alwayas present when you needed him and friendly as well. Claudia's dishes were absolutely delicious! We will always remember her lobsters and fish with salsa! She is the sweetest person ever! We had the best time of our life, and we will definitely be back! We recommend this for everybody!"Guest: Angie S. "The house was beautiful and the layout was great for our family with four couples. Each couple had their own private bedroom and bathroom (with air conditioning). The kitchen, dining and living room easily accommodated our entire family. We also really enjoyed the pool - especially when we returned from exploring the area. There were plenty of towels available for use by the pool or to take with you to the beach. The linens and towels in the bathrooms were all high quality. The beds were comfortable and Ibania kept the house clean and was very helpful. We also appreciated access to the computer and wi-fi in the house. The negatives: the house is quite a ways from San Juan del Sur - down a dirt road (which was in good condition when we were there but would be a challenge during the rainy season). You really need a vehicle when you stay there. And if you like to party in town, you will need a designated driver to navigate the roads. There are a couple of restaurants that are within walking distance (if you like a good hike). The beaches are not easily accessed by foot - again you really need a vehicle. The kitchen was not well equipped for cooking. There were plenty of dishes and silverware but there wasn't a good assortment of pans, bowls, measuring cups, strainers, pitchers, etc. And if you want to cook, be sure and bring your own sharp knife! We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Los Angeles and enjoyed exploring the town and area around San Juan del Sur."Guest: Sherry P. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 21, 2014View listing
Nicaragua Travel Tips
Sporting and Leisure Activities near Nicaragua Vacation Rentals
In the area around San Juan Del Sur, surfing is a popular pastime. The swells in Nicaragua are so legendary that they attract surfers from all over the world. Kite surfers and windsurfers can also enjoy the wind and waves. There are several schools along the coastline that provide equipment and lessons if you want to give these sports a try.
Fishing charters are widely available for those that enjoy deep sea and sport fishing. If you want to hook game fish such as marlin, sailfish or tuna, you will want to head out with an experienced skipper who can take you to the best fishing spots. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, a great way to spend an afternoon is on a snorkeling cruise. Sail out of the bay and anchor off one of the many reefs. Then spend the afternoon snorkeling and enjoy the colorful underwater world. If you hold a scuba diving qualification, there are several dive schools and charter companies that will be able to take you out to explore the many reefs. You can even upgrade your certification or sign up for a specialty course during your stay.
If you enjoy lush foliage and birding and don’t mind heights then a treetop canopy tour in the rainforest is a great daytime excursion. Travel between platforms on a zip line and experience a unique bird’s-eye view of your surroundings. Local outfitters are well equipped and ensure that you complete the excursion safely. Another popular way to explore the interior is on a horseback excursion.
Getting to Nicaragua Villas
One of the main points of entry into Nicaragua is Managua International Airport. The airport hosts a wide number of leading North American airlines as well as various other regional airlines. There are frequently scheduled commercial flights from most major hubs in the U.S.
Seasons to Visit Nicaragua Oceanfront Rentals
The peak travel season for surfers is between the months of May and November, when the swell conditions are at their best. Unfortunately, this is also the heavy rainy season. Showers are typically short-lived but downpours can be heavy. If traveling overland in areas where there are only dirt roads, you will need an all-terrain vehicle. In general, a tropical climate dominates which results in consistently warm temperatures all year long. A popular time for beach lovers is between the months of December and April. Nicaragua provides the perfect escape for those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to get away from icy climates for a while. This is also traditionally the windy season so you may need to hold onto your beach hat.
San Juan Del Sur Vacation Rentals in Nicaragua
San Juan Del Sur is one of the most popular beach destinations in Nicaragua. There are many stylish homes and villas that are available for rent. Many homes have magnificent views out over the bay and large open decks where you can dine in the evening or suntan during the day. Many have beautiful lush tropical gardens, complete with a few local inhabitants such as colorful parrots and monkeys. Many of the homes include a hospitality service where housekeepers will cook, clean and even do the grocery shopping for you. On request, they can also get in touch with local tour operators and arrange sightseeing excursions and transportation for you. On days when you are feeling lazy, you can head down to the beach or relax poolside. Hammocks strapped in the trees provide perfect places to finish reading your favorite book. The living areas are generally spacious and comfortably furnished. Entertainment centers are great for when you don’t feel like heading outdoors.
