"I spent a most relaxing week alone in this wonderful home. Clean, comfortable (good bed in master bedroom), good location and a very diligent caretaker, Javiar, who speaks English very well. This alone is worth a "star" to those who have limited Spanish skills. The "Big Creek" area, where the home is located, is the perfect distance from town---only 5 minutes away in a taxi. You don't need to call a taxi; just start walking on the main road (2 minutes walk from house) and one will come along. This area is beautiful for walking--lovely beaches and amazing, bountiful flora. (And yes, you frequently hear the "Howlers"--a most ferocious sound from such small monkeys!!) An added plus is that there is a pretty overwater restaurant within walking distance (Tortuga Resort).
I never used the air-con as there are adequate windows and many ceiling fans to "catch" the cooling sea breeze. The elevated deck/outdoor living room is BUG FREE!! Again, bless those ceiling fans! The master bedroom has excellent air ventilation and a good mattress, insuring a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed (except condiments and spices)--good quality appliances in proper working order. Honestly, this house is SO comfortable that you might have trouble making yourself go explore!"

"Our family 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 7 had the pleasure to stay in this delightful cabin in Bocas in November 2014. This was the perfect place for our family to stay, it gave us a lot of space to cook and enjoy the jungle. We love adventure filled and active vacations and this was the perfect location for us. We especially loved exploring the island by bikes which was a lovely option provided by Lucas. Our kids loved to spend time with Lucas and Gloria and the chickens and dogs and cat. Lucas chopped coconuts right out of the trees in the yard for the children to enjoy. My husband enjoyed visiting Lucas's music studio and taking a CD home with us. Lucas was great at suggesting wonderful restaurants, arranged a great snorkel tour for us, told us all the places to search for monkeys and sloths, and gave great biking directions to deserted beaches and great swimming areas. We really enjoyed visting the Bastimentos Island and visiting Up The Hill chocolate farm and eating at Alvin's which was a very enjoyable water taxi away. In Bocas we enjoyed wonderful coffee at the new Coffee Shop (close to town) and eating at Refugio. November was a great time to visit Bocas, great weather and almost no tourists, we would highly recommend visting at this time and staying at this great cabin."

Spectacular view, Excellent house, good caretakers, OK island
"The views from the deck, living and dining areas are amazing. The sound of the ocean surf is constant and beautiful. The sunsets are gorgeous and calming. The caretaker Antonio was so pleasant to talk with and nice to have nearby. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and pans but not with any food or condiments. Stop at a grocery at bocas town and make sure to get water, salt and spices and oil in addition to food. Once at the house it isn't easy to find supplies - though there is a small grocery next to the water taxi pier. The house was super clean and the ac was so great at night after hot days.
Bastimentos itself is dirty with trash but the side of the island where the house is located is clean and well kept. This house was one of the nicest we saw during our stay. The local folks are nice without being overly welcoming, which is fine. I felt safe walking around day or night. Beautiful beaches, snorkeling and other activities are just boat rides away.
Firefly is a few minutes walk (bring headlamps at night) and worth the price - great food and drinks and the most romantic atmosphere. Also a good place to meet other vacationers.
I was able to wade with some kids in a nearby sand bar but otherwise the surf was too strong and I didn't have water shoes to try swimming in front of the house. Wifi was reliable. Didn't try the television but satellite with English channels is available."

"This wonderful place hosted our family of eight adults for a holiday adventure and met all of our expectations. The house is a perfect vacation home. Four bedrooms. Huge great room with two-story vaulted ceiling. Plus a huge porch under the roof of the house where we ate dinner. Well equipped kitchen. The house is located next to azul paradise, a small Eco-resort and here's the best thing: you are treated ad a guest of the resort so you get access to all of their water sports equipment and excursions. The spectacular beach is a stone's throw from the house. The Indian village of salt creek is a 10 minute kayak ride away. Their tour of the jungle is a bit on the muddy side but a cool adventure. Snorkeling was best at coral caye. Surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming are all right there. Jungle island adventure or serious getaway are perfect for this spot."
