"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'the jungle house', after a narly trip here from the NW USA, it was such a relaxing treat to chill out on the spacious deck surrounded by the jungle! The house was awesome and the grounds were spectacular! The location is ideal too, close to surf spots, swimming beaches and just a short bike ride to town which we really enjoyed! It was nice to be greeted at the airport by carol and she gave us a little tour of town! Tera provided excellent friendly customer service and was super helpful!! We would stay at Casa Oceana again for sure!!"Guest: jungle monkeys Date of Stay: December 2014 Review Submitted: December 12, 2014View listing
"Starfish Reef Villas are excellently appointed! The bedrooms are very comfortable. The decks are great for drinks, watching birds & just hanging out looking at the jungle. & you are up at mid tree level in their jungle. Four of us escaped the cold north lands of Texas & Ohio & went to Panama for this adventure. All of us love to cook & create wonderful food. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the stuff you could want to prepare fabulous meals. Jack & Kelly were wonderful hosts with helpful answers & ideas for adventures. Niko, the tireless grounds keeper, surprized us daily with fresh bananas, opened coconuts, papayas or bush peas. Whatever he found for us around the jungle. He also taught us some new spanish words & some words in his native Indio language. The jungle has lots flowers, huge trees, wonderful plants, birds, frogs, insects & sounds you can't identify or wonder what or who they might be coming from. The beach area is small & very private & wonderful. The snorkeling is good with lots of live corals, reef fish of all sizes, snowflake jelly fish, they don't sting just set on the bottom & lots of colorful starfish. Paddling the cayuco is a bit tricky, but you are already wet anyway. Be sure & take everything you think you want down to the beach with you. Its quite a hike both ways! Jack arranged a day trip to Crawl Caye for snorkeling, A great lunch & the on to Red Frog Beach & some much needed provisioning in Bocas Town. Be sure & make a good shopping list to start with & get everything you might want to take to Shepard Island on your first trip out. You'll be happy if you bring extra bags for your carry out goodies. Remember the beer store is an extra water taxi ride away, $10 each way. WE hope everyone enjoys their stay as much as we did. Thanks Jack & Kelly & Niko"Guest: ZekeandMarty Z. "We had booked Casa dos Amores without knowing anything about Panama in general or the Bocas region in particular. After our stay in Casco Viejo in Panama City and a sailing tour round the San Blas islands, we didn't know what to expect of Isla Bastimentos. We really thought it could not get any better. But, it did. The house was spacious, just a hundred meteres off the beach. In front of it there was this small lagoon with palm trees. Even with 5 adults we had more than enough room to live, sit and move around. The porch was huge with a hammock on either side. We rented the house and although there was always the possibility to cook in a modern kitchen, we were allowed to have breakfast, dinner, drinks and more at a bar only a two minute stroll away from us. For those who cannot really disconnect there is Wifi and the possibillity to pay plastic. This bar is part of a greater project. Next to it, the managers of Casa dos Amores, Erni and Marty Williams, are realizing a dream project: 10 bungalows on the water, a restaurant, a gift shop and a grocery store. The three bedrooms and three bathrooms of Casa dos Amores were clean and tidy. The service from Erni and Marty Williams was more than perfect. They were easygoing and very helpful. The staff of Azul Paradise (www.azulparadise.com) were all locals from a small village called Salt Creek. They were always there to host all the activities - with all their 'island knowledge' - we wanted to do: seven kinds of jungle tours starting at the village, a snorkling trips to sites which are world listed, surfing lessons, etc., etc. So don't hesitate to go there now world tourism has not really landed on Isla Bastimentos yet."Guest: Fred Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 2, 2014View listing
"Our family 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 7 had the pleasure to stay in this delightful cabin in Bocas in November 2014. This was the perfect place for our family to stay, it gave us a lot of space to cook and enjoy the jungle. We love adventure filled and active vacations and this was the perfect location for us. We especially loved exploring the island by bikes which was a lovely option provided by Lucas. Our kids loved to spend time with Lucas and Gloria and the chickens and dogs and cat. Lucas chopped coconuts right out of the trees in the yard for the children to enjoy. My husband enjoyed visiting Lucas's music studio and taking a CD home with us. Lucas was great at suggesting wonderful restaurants, arranged a great snorkel tour for us, told us all the places to search for monkeys and sloths, and gave great biking directions to deserted beaches and great swimming areas. We really enjoyed visting the Bastimentos Island and visiting Up The Hill chocolate farm and eating at Alvin's which was a very enjoyable water taxi away. In Bocas we enjoyed wonderful coffee at the new Coffee Shop (close to town) and eating at Refugio. November was a great time to visit Bocas, great weather and almost no tourists, we would highly recommend visting at this time and staying at this great cabin."Guest: Ktay Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: December 16, 2014View listing
