  • Great villa.......fantastic location

"If you make it to Bocas Del Toro, the Casa coco loco is the place to stay. The location is great with a short water taxi ride from the town and ample super markets and bars. The cosmic crab is an easy walk up the beach and serves great fresh dinners and a hospitality that is missing in our everyday lives. The house has everything you need.....including a Jon and Anne who look after you and are on call to help. Thanks a great stay!"

  • AWESOME!!

"The description of this property is spot on!! The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and stocked with all amenities one could need. The location is perfect; centrally located with the beach at the end of the lane and town only a mile away. Sandi is a great Hostess. I loved sitting on the patio admiring the beautiful scenery, while listening to the parrots and monkeys in the jungle behind the unit. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Bocas Del Toro."

  • A stunning stay

"We had booked Casa dos Amores without knowing anything about Panama in general or the Bocas region in particular. After our stay in Casco Viejo in Panama City and a sailing tour round the San Blas islands, we didn't know what to expect of Isla Bastimentos. We really thought it could not get any better. But, it did. The house was spacious, just a hundred meteres off the beach. In front of it there was this small lagoon with palm trees. Even with 5 adults we had more than enough room to live, sit and move around. The porch was huge with a hammock on either side. We rented the house and although there was always the possibility to cook in a modern kitchen, we were allowed to have breakfast, dinner, drinks and more at a bar only a two minute stroll away from us. For those who cannot really disconnect there is Wifi and the possibillity to pay plastic. This bar is part of a greater project. Next to it, the managers of Casa dos Amores, Erni and Marty Williams, are realizing a dream project: 10 bungalows on the water, a restaurant, a gift shop and a grocery store. The three bedrooms and three bathrooms of Casa dos Amores were clean and tidy. The service from Erni and Marty Williams was more than perfect. They were easygoing and very helpful. The staff of Azul Paradise (www.azulparadise.com) were all locals from a small village called Salt Creek. They were always there to host all the activities - with all their 'island knowledge' - we wanted to do: seven kinds of jungle tours starting at the village, a snorkling trips to sites which are world listed, surfing lessons, etc., etc. So don't hesitate to go there now world tourism has not really landed on Isla Bastimentos yet."

Bocas del Toro Travel Tips

Natural Beauty at Bocas del Toro Vacation Homes

Bocas del Toro is a small archipelago of islands in Panama in Central America. It was the country’s first national park. Because of conservation efforts, it has remained a pristine haven of natural resources. Bird and turtle sanctuaries are numerous and visitors can enjoy nature at its best. Many divers come to explore the underwater world and snorkelers can view the reefs from the surface. There are many trails that are open for visitors to explore and travelers who enjoy trekking can explore a wide range of landscapes. It’s a destination where a more leisurely pace prevails and you can take some time to enjoy the local culture and natural attractions.

Bocas del Toro Travel Attractions

In Bocas del Toro, you are really spoiled for choice. Unless you are staying for an extended period, you will really be hard-pressed to explore all of the attractions the area has to offer. Both the land and sea offer many opportunities for exploration.

The scuba diving is excellent and there are several reputable dive schools in the area that operate daily charters. Snorkeling excursions and leisurely sightseeing cruises can also be easily arranged. For a different kind of snorkeling experience, join an excursion to the mangroves. Here in the crystal clear waters, you can see the sponges, starfish, fire corals and crabs that make this area their home. Surfers’ favorite spots are the waves off the Bastimentos and Colon Islands, and Carenero Quay. While the waves are good, it’s not a place for novice surfers. Many of the waves break close to the beach or dump on coral reefs, and you need to have the ability to break away before you get too close to either.

There are many marked trails for hiking on the different islands and some local tour operators will provide a guiding service to take you around. Some of the longer trails are open for mountain biking and bikes can be hired relatively inexpensively. Two of the more well known trails are the Red Frog Trail and the Sloth Trail.

The Bocas del Toro town is a place with a rich history. Many beautiful old buildings tell their own tales of industries and developments over the ages. Many of the old colonial buildings are being lovingly restored to their former glory, making strolling down the streets a wonderful experience.

Leisurely Days at Bocas del Toro Vacation Houses

Bocas del Toro is the type of destination that you visit to escape hectic your busy life for a while. The beautiful natural surroundings and wealth of outdoor activities will quickly rejuvenate your spirits. Many of the vacation homes are located on the beachfront with sweeping views over the ocean. Enjoy breakfast out on the deck and hear the birds in the trees overhead. Most rental homes are spacious and comfortably furnished. Many are characterized by large windows, open decks and surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Staying here you can enjoy your own private piece of paradise.

Getting to Bocas del Toro

For international travelers, you will need to route via the international airport in Panama City. From there, you can get a connection with one of the domestic airlines into Bocas del Toro. There are regularly scheduled flights but because Bocas is a popular tourist destination, they are often quite fully booked. It’s therefore essential to make your reservation together with your international flight and reconfirm your flight details again prior to your departure. Upon arrival in Bocas del Toro, you can get a marine taxi out to the islands. There are two taxi companies that operate regularly scheduled departures throughout the day.
