  • Fantastic Stay at Valle Escondido

"This property at Valle Escondido has to be seen to be believed! When we first arrived and told a local that we were staying at Valle Escondido he said that it was "Paradise" and he was right! The community itself is an amazing place, but the owners have really spared no expense in building and outfitting this wonderful property. The landscaping is so beautiful, with hundreds of tropical plants and shrubs covering the yard surrounding the home. While technically a "gated community", it does not feel like one at all. Most of the security comes from the fact that the community was built inside a crater surrounded by vertical walls of greenery. But to be honest, Boquete felt very safe anyways The home itself is very spacious with a fully stocked kitchen and all the required necessities to self-cater if you desire. The internet is as fast as the States! I've been to places where you have to bring your own salt & pepper. The owners go above and beyond in providing much more including a whole bag of local coffee, spices, oil, etc. You could easily prepare gourmet meals and enjoy them right on the massive deck. The deck overlooks the beautifully manicured gardens where beautiful birds abound. Just sit on the outdoor couch or chairs and be amazed by the beauty of the place! Overall, I would highly recommend this beautiful property. It is a mere 10 min. drive from the town center where you'll find lots of shopping and restaurants. One consideration is that you would definitely want to rent a car of you decided to stay here. The walk to town is about 20-25 minutes, but to get around Boquete and really appreciate the area, a car is a must. The owners can connect you with a reputable rental car agency. We would definitely stay again!"

  • Wonderful, peaceful and lovely cabins and grounds

"My husband and I stayed at the Boquete River Inn for a week in February. Can't say enough about the place -- the views from the cabin were phenomenal. The cabin itself was spacious and in great shape. The grounds are truly lovely and the pool very refreshing on a hot day. Ken was a wonderful host. The property is not right in the town of Boquete - which we found to be an advantage. The weather at this property is actually better than in town, and although the town is certainly nice, we were much happier being outside of it. We had a car, but others staying in the cabins didn't and found taking the bus easy and convenient. If you are thinking about Boquete - definitely think about the River Inn"

  • Wonderful Stay in Valle Escondio Home

"We had 3 couples staying in the home and the layout was perfect for our group. The home is beautifully decorated and all of the bedrooms were very large. We spent a lot of time on the outdoor patio which overlooked the river and had plenty of seating. Although we had a car, you could easily walk to town if you wanted. Valle Escondido is definitely an upscale area and we will definitely stay in this home again on our next visit."

  • The best place you will ever stay—if you love nature

"El Rio Encantado took our breath away. This nature reserve is thoughtfully designed around a gorgeous river inside a lush valley. The owner, Frank, has lovingly blended nature & art to make a slice of paradise. Around every corner are majestic views, colorful landscaping, waterfalls & a river that rushes through & over rocks & boulders shaped over many millennia. We stayed in Cottage 3 directly on the river & promptly entered the clean, temperate water. I fondly remember this swimming hole daily since our trip -- rapids on both ends of a deeper calm section where a gentle, warm waterfall flows down the rock wall. I swam easily through the calm section, let the waterfall flow over me and then swam against the current as I approached the rocks/rapids. The current changes with rain patterns but it was always possible to sit upon the rocks and let the river wash over us – a natural massage. This is a huge property but only a few cabins, so it’s very private and you typically won’t see other visitors. Frank ensures guests are quiet so no loud, partying types. The weather is ideal. The touristy area – Boquete – is about a 20-minute drive but was often cool and shrouded in clouds with misty rain when it was sunny, clear & warm at El Rio Encantado. This area of Panama is a series of microclimates. Unbelievably, weather can change dramatically just around the next bend in the road. Our cabin had a lovely patio with a barbecue grill. Remarkably, there were no mosquitoes. We never turned on the tv or used wifi, although both were available. We slept with all windows open to the soothing river sounds. The cabin had extra comfortable beds, a very nice bathroom with a large shower, living/dining area & a fully equipped kitchen. Frank is lucky we actually checked out on schedule because I could have easily stayed here permanently. And speaking of Frank, if you want to know the true Panama – secrets, surprises, good & bad, he will give it to you straight. He can also set you up with things to do plus a local tour guide that we very much enjoyed. The most entertainment, however, was listening to Frank’s stories. But you have to go to El Rio Encantado to hear them. You will never regret a moment at this enchanting place. I have stayed on the beautiful Hawaiian islands, on the African savannah, the snow-capped Alps, near the Great Wall, & the Costa Rican rainforests, among others. But I truly consider El Rio Encantado to be the best place I’ve ever stayed."
