"My wife and I spent a week in this property and highly recommend it. The location in Casco Viejo right by the presidential palace is the best in Panama. Steps away are many great dining, entertainment and historical venues. And if you are the type who is concerned about safety in an unfamiliar environment, you won't worry here. Casco Viejo has 'Tourist Police' liberally assigned at virtually every corner. Many police are stationed around the Presidential Palace, and consequently adjacent to this lodging. You couldn't find a much safer environment.
The apartment itself is spacious, with large rooms, high ceilings and old world charm. It is well equipped and furnished to match the era of the architecture, it was delightful.
The proprietor was very helpful with everything we asked, and even helped us work around a medical problem I had at the time.
Be sure and explore all of Casco Viejo and walk the Cinta Costera to downtown Panama City. That was fabulous. Also not to be missed is the Mercado de Mariscos (seafood market) adjacent to Casco Viejo. There are many restaurants/seafood stands surrounding the market, serving the freshest possible catch. You can get a nice cup of excellent ceviche for $2.50 and the became a lunchtime staple for me. Go through the seafood market to select from freshest possible catch straight off the boat and get your dinner items to take back to the apartment and cook. Prices are about virtually nothing compared to what we pay in Florida. Corvina (they say it is Sea Bass) costs $2.50 per pound. About 10% of what we pay for Sea Bass here and it was excellent.
If you are feeling a little more adventurous, go to the Mercada de Abastos in Curundu (a $2 taxi ride) for fresh fruits and veggies straight from the farm at prices comparably cheap to the seafood market."

"When we were thinking of a vacation somewhere not so hot in July, Panama was not at the top the list, now it is thanks to the beautiful and peacefully charm of Valle Escondido. The accommodations were first class and when the homeowner gave us great information of what to do, she forgot to say "Maybe you just might want to sit out on covered lanai in a pleasant 78 degrees with the sounds of running waterfalls and enjoy the chirping birds" because we did that alot also. The restaurant at the Country Club with Master Chef Chris was also a fantastic surprise. Normally you think of Country Club food as bland and tasteless, but here it is anything like that. We ate at least one meal a day there, and each was better than other. The Golf Course was short, but in perfect shape and very difficult. Outside lanai the hole is 138 yards long, with the only thing separating the very elevated tee and green is the running river, whose noise we so enjoyed, along with watching the other golfers shot their balls into the river. 10 minute walk to town, perfect weather and great accommodations make this one of our favorites places yet on VRBO and we have stayed at many. "One of the best bargains in (near) Boquete. These are not mere cabins, these are small houses, 4 of them on the property. The owner, Ken is very helpful and an interesting fellow to chat with. The cabins, while sparsely decorated, are quite nice and roomy. The pool is a plus and is well maintained, as are all of the surroundings. Do not use Google to locate this place. It'll take you to the center of Boquete, about 8 miles away. Use the GPS coordinates (N 08 41.880 W 082 27.191) The road going to the facility is bumpy but short and any car can make it just fine. Taxis and busses are also available. Peaceful setting. Highly recommended."
