Gorgona Travel Tips

Visitors to Gorgona Vacation Rentals

Gorgona is becoming an increasingly popular destination for international travelers. The area has attracted many ex-pats who have chosen Panama as a retirement destination. Gorgona has traditionally been a fishing village. If you enjoy fishing, you may be able to enjoy one of the local charters and head out for a day of sport fishing. Most people who travel to Gorgona are looking for a relaxed vacation destination and happy to spend their days enjoying leisurely strolls along the beachfront. You can also enjoy a seafood meal at one of the local restaurants.

Gorgona Travel Attractions

The area’s main attraction is its beautiful beach. Many of the vacation homes are located on the beachfront and have magnificent views out over the ocean. Enjoy sitting on your deck and listen to the waves crashing on the shoreline. Relax in a deck chair with your favorite book and take the opportunity to relax a while. Gorgona is a leisurely destination away from the bustle of Panama City. Many of the condos are located in private estates.

In the nearby region of Coronado, you can enjoy shopping at the outdoor markets and sign up for a game of golf at the local golf course. There are also many restaurants where you can dine out and enjoy a wide variety of international cuisines.

If you want to visit some of the important cultural sites of Panama, take a drive to Panama City. Here, you can see the world-famous Panama Canal and visit the Miaflores Visitors Center. The center has a museum which has interesting interactive exhibits relating to the history and construction of the canal. You can also experience the canal firsthand by joining a half-day or full-day leisure cruise which will take you on through a series of the locks in the canal. The Casco-Viejo was built in 1671 and is the cultural heart of Panama City. The area is a collection of stunning colonial architecture that reflects Panama’s diverse history and culture. Cafés line the streets in old restored buildings, and there are many boutiques and art galleries that you can browse.

Seasons to Visit Gorgona Beach Houses

Because Gorgona is located on the coast of Panama, it enjoys a warm year-round tropical climate. It is hot and humid for most of the year with humidity levels increasing during the summer months. This is sometimes tempered by cooling ocean breezes. Panama is fortunate in that it is considered to lie outside of the hurricane belt, although heavy rains do occur between May and November. The rain showers are generally short-lived. The drier months are between December and April, and this coincides with the busier tourist season.

Getting to Panama Vacation Rentals in Gorgona

Gorgona is located on Panama’s coast, approximately 50 miles from Panama City. This puts it within an easy driving distance from the capital. It is recommended to arrange a private transfer from the airport upon arrival as driving in and around Panama City can be challenging. The roads are often highly congested so it’s advisable to take advantage of a local driver who knows how to navigate his way through traffic. You also need to factor in additional time when traveling to and from the airport to allow for traffic delays. The Tocumen International Airport is located just to the east of Panama City. The airport hosts regularly scheduled commercial flights by most North American and South American airlines. There are also weekly flights connecting Panama City with European cities such as Amsterdam and Madrid on major international air carriers.
