"When we were thinking of a vacation somewhere not so hot in July, Panama was not at the top the list, now it is thanks to the beautiful and peacefully charm of Valle Escondido. The accommodations were first class and when the homeowner gave us great information of what to do, she forgot to say "Maybe you just might want to sit out on covered lanai in a pleasant 78 degrees with the sounds of running waterfalls and enjoy the chirping birds" because we did that alot also. The restaurant at the Country Club with Master Chef Chris was also a fantastic surprise. Normally you think of Country Club food as bland and tasteless, but here it is anything like that. We ate at least one meal a day there, and each was better than other. The Golf Course was short, but in perfect shape and very difficult. Outside lanai the hole is 138 yards long, with the only thing separating the very elevated tee and green is the running river, whose noise we so enjoyed, along with watching the other golfers shot their balls into the river. 10 minute walk to town, perfect weather and great accommodations make this one of our favorites places yet on VRBO and we have stayed at many. "We were 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies. We spent a great weekend on the villa. It has a fully equipped kitchen. TV with cable, wifi, air condition in every area. comfortable bathrooms with clean towers. Very comfortable beds with great linen. A cool balcony with a barbecue. I do not have any complains. Plus the island is amazing and you have walking distance beaches from the villa. Also you have a shared pool almost at your door were my kids spent long hours."

"We stayed in Cottage 1 for 10 days at the end of January into February. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny, with no rain but nice breezes at all times. The cottage had A/C but we never needed it. The location is excellent and is on 90 acres on both sides of a scenic river. It's quiet and safe at Rio Encantado, yet you are only 20 minutes from Boquete for shopping and cultural interactions. The weather in Boquete is cooler, rainy or misty much of the time, and quite windy, so we found Rio Encantado to be just right for us. The cottage was beautifully appointed and well made with an excellent kitchen and a gorgeous hand-built shower. The patio had a direct view of Volcan Baru, and we spent many mornings and evenings watching the changing light, rainbows, and stars above the volcano. The pool at Rio Encantado is stellar, clean, with no smell of chlorine. It's big enough to swim laps, yet has a shallow end where you can relax and sit. Walking paths are throughout the property which is beautifully landscaped with many mature tropical beauties. The owner, Frank, is thoughtful, interesting, and just a fine person who loves Panama and cares about the people and culture. We've stayed in many VRBO homes in other Latin American countries and this place is by far the best. Some days we stayed at Rio Encantado and others we drove up into the mountains to hike and it was all just fabulous. You can't go wrong at this place."

"We just returned from our trip to Birdwatcher's Paradise, and that it was. We never considered ourselves "bird people", but here, you will be. Birds of every color and flowers to match. Such a beautiful setting. The rental is private and secure. The local roads are excellent and you are central to all that there is to see. La Amistad in Las Nubes and Cerro Punta are within a beautiful hours drive. The beach at Playa Barqueta was easy to get to and deserted on the day we went. The coffee tour at Jansons was very informative and interesting. Absolutely do not miss the orchid farm at Finca Dracula in Gaudalupe. Boquete is easily reached on the new winding road that runs past the property. Volcan is a whole different vibe than Boquete, less touristy. Again, the location can not be beat.
Lynn and Jerry are fantastic. They give you your space but are happy to give you recommendations for both food and fun. Really enjoyed meeting them and sharing travel stories. The four dogs were just what we needed to help with missing our own at home.
We would highly recommend! Exceeded all expectations.
