  • Infinite Beach and Infinite View from the Infinity Pool

"I would like to begin my review with the words of gratitude to the owner of the place, Zhenia. She loves her house and makes sure her guests fall in love with it as well. She does an outstanding job at it. You can't help but fall in love with the cottage, with its location, with peace and serenity of nature. The beach that you see on the pictures is a minute away from the house and it is infinite. I jogged for a few miles every morning taking dips in the ocean from time to time. The best workout ever! The house is cozy and homey. The back porch is huge. Darkness falls suddenly in the tropics and promptly at a little past 6 pm. You can meditate sitting on your own back patio counting stars, staring into the infinity of the black sky that is so close to the equator. I bet you find a few different constellations, not like the ones you're used to see at home. The kitchen has all utensils you need to grill fresh fish that you buy from the cooperative (located on the beach on your right). Or even better! They will cook that fish for you right there, at the restaurant next to the cooperative. You will be pleasantly surprised with price of food in Panama. Especially if you shop at the little grocery shops in Gorgona (there are a few there). Coronado is close by. A word of warning: you will have to make a left turn through two lanes of Pan-American freeway (twice!). It always made me nervous. Driving in Panama is a different story and has nothing to do with this review :) Please exercise caution and make sure you have a GPS with UPDATED MAPS. The pool is great. I was there the first week of September and had the entire pool to myself. Most of the time. Infinite delight of the infinity pool. I loved my stay in Gorgona and I loved the house. One feature in particular -- digital lock! I didn't have to carry a key with me on my morning jogs. My infinite thanks to Zhenia again. And my recommendation to everyone -- Gorgona is a nice place to stay in Panama, the villa is a perfect home away from home."

  • Panama Casita unique experience

"What a unique experience and property to vacation at. A taste of what it is like to live there. The back yard and pool is perfect and so well put together. Sarah is an inviting hostess and so full of knowledge of the area. She showed us around and joined us for meals and happy hour, introduced us to her friends and set us up for viewing of real estate. Start to! finish this was a great find for a week away. Want to move there now."

  • Even better than expected!

"I rated our stay 5 stars not because everything was "perfect" (what is?) but because it was better than expected and we were happy we ended up booking this house. We were worried we should stay closer to, or on, Isla Colon but, once we got oriented we realized it didn't really matter. All travel is by boat anyway so being in Salt Creek wasn't a big deal - just budget for the cost of gas for the boat. Sure the boat ride over was a little longer than expected (~35 min) but, we enjoyed it as it gave us our first look at the area. The beach is LITERALLY steps down from the house and it's idyllic: pretty, calm and warm. The Hobie Cat and kayaks were a true bonus and Gregorio's willingness to take us whenever/where ever ensured we never felt "stuck". It's also on the edge of the forest so, we went for a BIG hike to a bat cave with one of the villagers and got to really see/hear/smell a beautiful rainforest. I wouldn't pay any mind to that whiny review posted earlier either (they should never have gone to an eco-house in a national park if they were more concerned about air conditioning and bugs! In a RAINFOREST...go figure!) The power and hot water were reliable for us; open windows + ceiling fans provided all the breezes for cooling down we needed. Plenty of towels were provided and the kitchen was well-stocked with equipment. Sure, the stove-top coffee maker could use a replacement, but it worked just fine. We were happy we brought in a thorough supply of groceries though and you should assume you need to bring EVERYTHING in including lots of water. Got topped up with some goodies from the locals (mmm! fresh fish, coco bread + young coconuts!). Really sweet people, neither pushy nor greedy, just earthy and gentle and ask fair prices for their goods or services. The porch offered wonderful sunrise AND sunset views and we enjoyed going for big walks down the beach. Unfortunately, the visibility of the water wasn't great while we were there, but that's just nature. Regardless, you can just walk into water with a sandy bottom and then rinse off at the handy outdoor shower. We simply approached this house as a "tropical cottage": a nice, well laid out, comfortable rental that was just what we were looking for to get away from it all. BE WARNED! The no-see-ums were RUTHLESS from dusk until about 8 PM! Get coconut oil from locals IMMEDIATELY! Albert, thanks for lending your house and you are very lucky to have a loyal assistant like Gregorio. What a sweet man!"
