  • Les Bons Enfants - fabulous and perfect location!

"After staying in a Paris hotel for a week, Les Bons Enfants was a breath of fresh air and the perfect antidote to cramped, confined hotel rooms spaces. As a family of 4 adults and 1 infant, we were delighted to find the apartment met all our requirements. Very tastefully decorated, it was comforting and relaxing and child friendly, yet with a feeling of luxury. Bright and airy, the apartment had great views over the surrounding rooftops of Dijon and was spotlessly clean. Although we had looked at the location before booking, we had no real concept of how close it was to all the sights of Dijon. Literally less than a minute's walk and your at the Place de la Liberation with it's beautiful fountains and many restaurants. Perfect for an evening coffee and dessert. The main shopping street Rue de la Liberte continues on from this, so it was very easy to walk every and enjoy the historic town. We also opted to take part in Viviane and Laure's Open Air Market tour and lunch, available when the Les Halles Markets are on. It is a food lovers paradise! So many delicacies to see and buy, and it also included a stop in at the famous Maille mustard shop, a chocolaterie and fromagarie. Viviane and Laure purchased some delicious morsels form the market and the fromagerie to go with the fabulous 5 course lunch that was prepared and enjoyed in the comfort of Laure's apartment. The food was outstanding and the company even better. We could not recommend this option enough! All in all our stay in Dijon was the highlight of our trip to France, made extra special by the warmth and friendliness shown to us by our lovely host host Viviane!"

  • Great location, clean and all the conveniences!

"For the past 12 years, we have travelled every year and have rented a house in some part of Europe. Country & Lake is by far the BEST rental we have stayed in. There is no doubt that we will be back next year.My husband and I spent the first week in April in the 3-level barn-house. The views are stunning. The view from the living room area (2nd floor) overlooks the wetlands (green-green fields), which we found to be incredibly peaceful and relaxing to watch. We loved to see the ducks, geese and other interesting birds flying around, feeding (and nesting, apparently) in the field. The farmer next door has horses, a pony and sheep, which hang-out in right in front of the huge picturesque windows. There were lambs this time of the year and it was really entertaining to watch them run around (they reminded us of puppies; following one another, tearing back-and-forth). The view from the master bedroom on the 3rd floor overlooked the Lake, which offered a whole different perspective and reminded us of how inventive the Dutch have been, managing the sea! The lower level offers a sauna and a really wonderful spa-type room, which I really enjoyed sitting in late afternoon, when the sun streamed in. In addition to the gorgeous views, we enjoyed watching the children bicycling to school every morning and the enthusiastic cyclists who used the country road, also visible from the 2nd floor living room area. The house has ALL the conveniences and was spectacularly clean and comfortable. Onny and Saskia are warm hosts (and Fred, their cat), always ready to help. The area is charming and there is a lot to explore; the local stores, supermarkets, bakeries and general feel is very rural. Oh, and the very narrow bridges can prove quite challenging by car (it helps to have mirrors that retract), although there were other routes to avoid the village bridges. While the property is secluded (which we look for in a property), it was easy to be in the throng of community and navigate the small towns. It was very easy to get into Amsterdam by car (although I understand that transportation by bus is also very easy to manage). After our week at Country & Lake, we boarded a 10 day Viking River Cruise with stops in The Netherlands and Belgium. The cruise was truly wonderful, but my husband and I both agree: if we were to do it over, we would have preferred to spend our 2 and 1/2 week vacation staying-put, in Warden at THIS property. Thanks, Saskia and Onny!"

  • Wonderful Vacation Home

"One word: Perfection. This Villa is a gem. The setting is wonderful, relaxing, and helps create the perfect vacation. We used the farm house as our home base for easy day trips to Orvieto, Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre and absolutely loved coming back "home" to it every night. Torre San Severino is a quaint village and Bruno's market has everything for enjoying meals on the lovely patio. We sat by the pool each morning and soaked up the beautiful views. Can't wait to return."

Croatia Travel Tips

Best Time of Year to Visit Croatia Vacation Rentals

Croatia’s climate is largely dominated by the warm Mediterranean Sea. The coastal areas in particular benefit from a relatively mild climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Because it is drier, summer tends to be the most popular times to visit Croatia. Even though it gets hot, there is typically always a cooling breeze from the Mediterranean that provides some welcome relief. The summer months are from June to September and the peak tourist season is during the months of July and August. For those traveling to Croatia for its cultural and historic attractions, you can benefit from off-season rates. Many of the attractions are indoors so good weather isn't crucial to your trip.
