  • Utterly charming and well-appointed in central Paris

"My husband and I spent two weeks in Paris--our first time in Paris--staying at this lovely, clean, and charming Juliette apartment. We were amazed that you could hear no street noise at all with the windows closed. The beds were substantial and super comfortable. Lots of outlets for charging camera, etc. Very good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the 3 bathrooms (we used loft bathroom only once--for the great clawfoot tub--so soothing for tired tootsies--just watch your head with ceiling height below five feet, as the picture shows). The location is more than perfect. Not only can you walk to many top places of interest e.g. Notre Dame), but you could actually never leave the island at all, if you liked, as it has plenty of stores, restaurants, grocery, boulangerie, pattiserie, etc. Of course one MUST leave the island for the Paris experience. The walk to the Pont Marie metro stop on right bank was very convenient. We took the metro frequently...very easy to use. And the help and support of Michele and David made for an anxiety-free trip...always there to help before and during the trip. We had left a bag of purchases (art and clothes) at a restaurant in the Montmarte and David called them on our behalf to see if was still there more than a day later (when we finally remembered it) and it was! He communicated to them our plan to return the next day to retrieve it. All of Michele's advice is excellent and especially the idea to go to Café St. Regis if you arrive before check in time. Best Eggs Benedict in Paris (probably). We returned for breakfast a few more times (when not getting pastries from one of the three nearby shops). Two recommendations to pass along--We recommend Les Ombres restaurant--a roof top location with sparkling view of the Eiffel Tower and the sunset and great food. And for the best hot chocolate (in the world, IMHO) go to Angelina's and order the Chocolate Chaud Africain. It is to die for. Flagship store is on Rue de Rivoli near the Louvre, but there is also an Angelina's inside the Louvre, Palace of Versailles, and Galeries Lafayette department store in the Opera district. We appreciated having a dishwasher and a washer and dryer (two separate appliances) which worked extremely well. The apartment was exactly what we hoped for and more."

Denmark Travel Tips

Visitors to Denmark Vacation Rentals

Like most other European countries, Denmark has a rich cultural and historical heritage. The cities are adorned with varying architectural styles of the centuries. Cathedrals and city squares are standard features in most Danish cities. People who enjoy exploring museums, palaces and ancient cathedrals will really enjoy visiting Denmark. It is also a destination that has numerous outdoor sports on offer. If you are more adventurous, you will find many activities to keep you entertained. Denmark is a great destination for families. There are several amusement parks and landmark attractions that are designed specifically to entertain the younger generation.

Seasons to Stay at Denmark Lodging

Many of Denmark's cultural attractions stay open throughout the year although the peak travel season is during the warmer summer months. The summer season starts in May and temperatures generally stay warm until early September. The warmest months are June and July, and these are also usually the busiest months in terms of visitors. Another popular time of year to visit is during December when Copenhagen and other cities are alight with festive Christmas cheer. Colorful lights adorn the streets and the Christmas markets are great places to go shopping.

Denmark Travel Attractions and Activities

On the cultural side, Denmark has a rich Viking Heritage. At Alborg, you can visit the ancient Viking burial site. The town also has a magnificent castle, monastery and beautiful cathedral. The Viking Ship Museum can be found in Roskilde which is just a short drive from Copenhagen. Here, you can see the remains of five authentic Viking ships that were recovered from the Copenhagen harbor. There are also interesting exhibits about tales of the Vikings and their exploits.

If palaces and castles are what you want to see, you will find many of them in Denmark. In the center of Copenhagen is the Amalienborg Palace which is the winter residence of the royal family. Each day at noon you can witness the changing of the royal guards. The royal summer palace is Marelisborg Palace which is located at the seaside town of Arhus. When the Queen is not in residence, the grounds are open for visitors to tour. When in Arhus, another must-see is the Arhus Theater which puts on performances throughout the summer season. Another famous castle is the Kronborg Castle which is referenced in Shakespeare's story of Hamlet.

Denmark is a destination that inspires imagination. In the Copenhagen harbor is the statue of the Little Mermaid from the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. This famous children's author was born in Odensee. Here, you can visit his childhood home which has been turned into a museum.

Traveling to Denmark

Denmark is the southernmost of the Scandanavian countries, located in the northern part of Europe. The country is made up of a large peninsula that juts out into the North Sea among a number of smaller islands. The capital city is Copenhagen and the country's main international airport is located just five miles southeast of the city. Copenhagen has good air links with most major cities within Europe. Direct flights also operate from several of the major eastern cities in the U.S., such as New York City and Washington DC. Denmark is also easily accessible by road and rail from mainland Europe. The nearest major European city is Hamburg in Germany. There are intercity trains and major highways linking the two countries. Denmark also has a suspension bridge with a road link to the southern part of Sweden. Once in Denmark, it is quite easy to navigate your way around. There are efficient public transport systems which negate the need to hire a car. However, if you prefer to have your independence then car hire is available in most major cities.
