  • More pros than cons - here's my summary

"We stayed in the flat for 5 nights in November 2014. Overall it was a good stay. Pros: - Transportation is great. It's an easy walk to the Archway Underground station on the Northern Line, which connects you to the rest of London. - The view is really cool. You can look over the rooftops all the way to the city in the distance. - Groceries are nearby. The Sainsbury across the street is open late and has everything you need. - The hot water is basically unlimited since it uses an on-demand heater. - The living room is comfortably furnished and relaxing. - The bed is comfortable. - The wifi internet is fast (10 mbs down, 1 mbs up) and reliable. - The starter selection of food was a very nice touch. Cons: - Those stairs! There are about 92 of them from the street. I definitely felt it the last few flights, and I'm in pretty good shape. If you have trouble climbing stairs, think about it. Also, the stairway has a strong smell of mildew, but fortunately that doesn't extend into the flat. - The neighborhood is very working class, I'd say on the dodgy side. It doesn't feel dangerous exactly, but it isn't charming or anything. There are a couple of betting shops, if that tells you anything. - The flat is quite noisy from the traffic below, even with all windows closed. Holloway seems to be a favorite street for emergency vehicles and sirens at all hours, and there's a lot usual car and truck engine noise. If that will bother you, bring earplugs. - The windows don't have coverings - they aren't needed for privacy since you're above the nearby buildings. However, if you're sensitive to light, bring a good sleep mask. - Some of the layout of the flat is awkward. The ceilings angle inward, so you need to bend over to go around the bed. We actually moved the bed to make it easier, but it was still a challenge to circumnavigate it. Also, the kitchen is fully equipped but quite tiny - only one person can work in there. - If you have an extra person or couple staying on the foldout sofa-bed in the living room, be aware that they need to walk right past the open bedroom area to get to the bathroom - there's no privacy. My wife and I discussed it, and we decided that although we might stay here again when returning to London, we would also look at other options to see what else was available for a similar cost. If you think the view is worth those stairs, and the other cons are okay, then you might really like this flat."

  • A perfect family getaway

"My husband and I stayed here with our two teenagers (13 yo boy and 14 yo girl). It was perfect for us. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and 3 bathrooms - unheard of in England! While the flat isn't right in the middle of the touristy areas (a pro or a con depending on your needs) it is right by the tube and is easily accessible. We found a number of wonderful breakfast places within a few blocks and it was a great hub for our week in London. The owners were also lovely to work with - very nice and went out of their way to return a few items that the kids left behind. I highly recommend it."
