  • Great location and response

"Immaculate apartment, five minutes walk to tower and underground, lovely location near Katherine's dock and lots of dining and taverns , just a little further over tower bridge takes you to the south side and more restaurants and attractions. Rachel was great to deal with, always prompt responses! I highly recommend it!Don't miss the view from the rooftop!"

  • Location, location, location!

"We chose Barry's flat for the location potential and size for our first visit to London. It worked very, very well for us, and we will reiterate previous reviews that Barry is an awesome host. Met us upon arrival after long red-eye from States. Explained operations of the flat and then toured us around the neighborhood and addressed questions about things to do and how to enjoy the more local flavors of London. We followed several of his recommendations with success! Barry will point out the various modes of transportation that you have available within in easy, easy walking distance: between Waterloo and Southwark tube stations, the DLR, bus stop to Tower of London , water ferries on the Thames, taxis, and your own two feet - London is a highly walkable city - but prepare yourself for the serious walking involved! Westminster and Millennium Bridges are within walking distance of the flat and the riverfront is a very active social scene on the weekends and evenings - lots of great people watching. We easily launched out on our daily adventures from here, and found the patio (very precious amenity!!) and cross breeze through the flat to be very nice during our warm summer stay. While the flat technically will sleep 6, our family of 4 (2 college students included) found the flat to be comfortable when we had moments of downtime. Not sure how a group of 6 would get along? (Get outside!) We are pleased with our selection and highly recommend this location and host if you want to experience London from an insider's perspective."

  • The perfect place from which to explore London!

"This was our first time renting a flat while traveling and I admit I was a bit nervous, but we were not disappointed. Our family of four (2 adults and 2 older teens) stayed at 1 Pepys Street for a week over Christmas. Throughout our communications in planning for the trip, Amanda was incredibly helpful and very responsive, even offering suggestions as to how we might purchase tickets for a soccer match. The flat is small but very comfortable for a family of 4. Two of us slept in the bedroom and two in the pull-out sofa bed. Plenty of linens, blankets, comforters, towels, etc. are provided. The kitchen had everything we needed (pots, pans, glasses, mugs, silverware, knives, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, oven, etc.) to make several meals during our stay, including Christmas Eve dinner. There are a number of small grocery stores in walking distance. This was helpful in saving some money because London is VERY expensive. The bathroom has a shower and tub and plenty of hot water for 4 people to shower. The flat also has a balcony with a table and chairs. Even in December I was able to sit outside and have a coffee and enjoy a lovely view of London City and the Gherkin. The free wifi provided and the ability to use the telephone in the flat to make local calls was very helpful in making our stay more comfortable. In terms of location, this is the perfect place from which to explore London. Amanda's description in this listing is completely accurate. We felt extremely safe and comfortable in the neighborhood, even at night (and in December, nightfall was around 4:30pm). Many of the most popular sites in London are easy walking distance from the flat with beautiful riverwalks along the Thames. One of the highlights of our visit was the Borough Market on the south bank just across London Bridge just a 15 minute walk from the flat. Also within a short walk are the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Globe and Tate Modern. If you like to walk, you can also reach Westminster Abbey and Big Ben in 40 minutes walking along the beautiful riverwalks. For those sites that are further away, the Tower Hill tube station is pretty much right out the front door of the flat. Purchase an Oyster card and you are an easy tube ride from anywhere you want to go in London. If we ever have the opportunity to visit London again, we will definitely return to 1 Pepys Street! Thanks Amanda."

  • Great place, clean, convenient

"I stayed here for a week- was working in the Canary Wharf area and also other areas of London. Was able to get to tube stations mostly inside due to inside malls which helped in the cold. My only disappointment was that the gym was not included and charges a rate of BP30 per day for use. Running along the river was a good, less expensive alternative. Very nice to have laundry, 2 bathrooms, free internet, etc."
