  • The perfect place from which to explore London!

"This was our first time renting a flat while traveling and I admit I was a bit nervous, but we were not disappointed. Our family of four (2 adults and 2 older teens) stayed at 1 Pepys Street for a week over Christmas. Throughout our communications in planning for the trip, Amanda was incredibly helpful and very responsive, even offering suggestions as to how we might purchase tickets for a soccer match. The flat is small but very comfortable for a family of 4. Two of us slept in the bedroom and two in the pull-out sofa bed. Plenty of linens, blankets, comforters, towels, etc. are provided. The kitchen had everything we needed (pots, pans, glasses, mugs, silverware, knives, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, oven, etc.) to make several meals during our stay, including Christmas Eve dinner. There are a number of small grocery stores in walking distance. This was helpful in saving some money because London is VERY expensive. The bathroom has a shower and tub and plenty of hot water for 4 people to shower. The flat also has a balcony with a table and chairs. Even in December I was able to sit outside and have a coffee and enjoy a lovely view of London City and the Gherkin. The free wifi provided and the ability to use the telephone in the flat to make local calls was very helpful in making our stay more comfortable. In terms of location, this is the perfect place from which to explore London. Amanda's description in this listing is completely accurate. We felt extremely safe and comfortable in the neighborhood, even at night (and in December, nightfall was around 4:30pm). Many of the most popular sites in London are easy walking distance from the flat with beautiful riverwalks along the Thames. One of the highlights of our visit was the Borough Market on the south bank just across London Bridge just a 15 minute walk from the flat. Also within a short walk are the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Globe and Tate Modern. If you like to walk, you can also reach Westminster Abbey and Big Ben in 40 minutes walking along the beautiful riverwalks. For those sites that are further away, the Tower Hill tube station is pretty much right out the front door of the flat. Purchase an Oyster card and you are an easy tube ride from anywhere you want to go in London. If we ever have the opportunity to visit London again, we will definitely return to 1 Pepys Street! Thanks Amanda."

  • Perfect Place to Perch!

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this flat very much. It was very comfortable and though small, had plenty of space for the two of us to rest and relax after long days of sightseeing in and around London. The flat was quiet and the bed was very comfortable so we awoke refreshed each day and ready for more London fun! We thought the Highgate neighborhood was lovely and especially enjoyed our visit to the Highgate Cemetery. We also appreciated the list of restaurant suggestions Krista sent to us. We had breakfast at Cook's on the Hill several days and had delicious kabobs from Rose for dinner one night. There were plenty of stores nearby for getting necessary groceries and supplies for our stay. I believe that Krista also suggested getting a double decker bus from Highgate into London and we loved that ride. We got to see so much as we rode in above ground. We did, however, use The Tube most of the time and found the location of the station very convenient to the flat. We felt very safe walking to the flat even at night. We were happy to have the washer and dryer in the flat. The limits on the hours of use were a bit difficult for us as we were usually out early in the morning and did not return until around 8 p.m. each night. They requested that we night do laundry after 8 and I understand that neighbors below could be disturbed by the spin cycle. I did manage to get my laundry done one night though and I was pleased that I could pack fewer clothes so I would say it was worth the inconvenience of having to come home early that night. Working with Krista was very easy. She responded quickly to questions and processed the refund of the deposit quickly. We loved her detailed letter with directions to the flat and clear instructions on what to do as we left the flat. I highly recommend this property and hope to return to it at some point!"

"We just concluded a week stay at the Penthouse. We have been traveling to London for 25 years, first business and since retirement for pleasure. More recently we have rented flats because the upscale hotels have become very costly. The Penthouse met all our expections and was exactually as described and depicted on the Internet with an outstanding view of the skyline of London at night. It is very comfortable, secure, and great location. We use taxies and they are always available closer to the flat, although be ready to explain the flat location on returning since even the London Cabies are not knowledgeable of the flat street. There are many great restaurants near by, a liquor/wine store accross the street and a limited grocery store within 3 blocks. The TV is high tech and the wifi is high speed and fully dependable. When we come back to London we will stay at the Penthouse."
