  • Comfy flat, excellent location in Covent Garden

"The host, Martin, was extremely kind and helpful. This very clean two bedroom one bath flat was quite small but had the necessary amenities. Getting into the double bed was a challenge as it filled the room. 2nd bedroom had two single beds. Lots of storage in the hall stocked with helpful tourist information. The kitchen was well stocked and nicely organized with condiments, plenty of dishes and cutlery. Dishwasher was good, washing machine very handy altho dryer did not work. The best thing was the location. So close to all the main sights and restaurants and theaters. Martin recommended a wonderful restaurant in Covent Garden. The recommendation to buy an Oyster card at the station was terrific. We started with 5 pounds each and added another 5 for riding the tube and bus. We would absolutely recommend this lodging and the manager. D and J, Tennessee, USA"

  • Cotswold Cottage Like a Home Away From Home

"Our family recently completed our first European vacation, which included France and Italy, and we finished our 3 week adventure with a short stay in the Cotswolds at Well Close Cottage. As we turned off the Stroud Road towards Frampton Mansell, then on towards Oakridge Lynch and the cottage, we quickly began to understand what attracts so many visitors to the area. Driving past the rolling hillsides of grazing sheep and horses, moss-covered stone walls, thatched roofed cottages, little villages dotting the countryside and turning on to increasingly narrow lanes, we were stunned by the breathtaking scenery. After a short ramble through the village, we came to the cottage, and instantly felt at home. The patio area door leads to the kitchen, well equipped and everything exactly where you would expect. The bedrooms are large and furnished with closets and chest of drawers and very comfortable beds and bedding, proven out by how late we all slept. The large bath has a rain-shower head and huge towels. The upstairs dining/lounge area is very large and comfortable, with 2 full sofas, SkyTV, DVDs, and loads of books, maps, magazines, and puzzles. We arrived a bit late for shops, but our hostess, Jayne recommended the local pub, The Butcher's Arms, which was a 10 minute walk and served great food and drinks. The next morning, we visited Kim's Shop a few blocks away and found a very well stocked shop with many more selections than expected and picked up everything we needed plus. With the fridge stocked up, we took to the fields and forest for some walking, and ventured by car to Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-on-the-Marsh, Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, all within a short drive from Oakridge Lynch. We finished off our stay with a last night's dinner at The Crowne Inn, where, like Butcher's Arms, the cuisine rivals any we had on our trip, the view included a collie herding sheep in the field across the lane and a gorgeous Cotswold sunset. Our one regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We look forward to returning soon, as so many in the Well Close Guest Books seem to do. Thank you, Jayne and Peter, for the lovely stay! We can't wait to do it again!"
