  • Super location

"Two couples, two weeks. First the "pros": The site of the former watermill couldn't be more charming. The sounds of the waterfalls and birds are delightful, and though away from the tourist action (you MUST have a car) this is pretty convenient for sightseeing and dining. It's a unique home with lots of character. Cons: There are no supplies stocked for tenants. Bring your own salt & pepper, cleaning supplies, paper towels, other paper products, garbage bags, toiletries, etc. There's a large Carrefours market nearby, but it closes mid-day and Sunday afternoons. Some maintenance issues. Special note: Owner and her charming adult daughter were extremely helpful when we had a car problem and were stranded at house. They were life-savers for us. Equipment: note that there is no telephone. If you stay in high summer, note that A/C is only one portable unit on second floor. "Canoe" was not available to us."

  • Wonderful Stay!

"The cottage is completely charming and the owners have thought of every detail to make it comfortable and beautiful - even more so than the very inviting photographs. Vincent was extremely efficient and helpful prior to the trip - providing us with a great deal of useful information and perspective. The kitchen was perfect and we loved eating out on the patio. The location is central to more sites and restaurants than you can possibly take in - we enjoyed several fascinating castles, caves and markets as well as canoeing the river, landing just a block below the house. My favorites were Chateau Marquessac's garden paths lined with candles, Chateau Losse with its Renaissance furnishings and lovely gardens, La Roque's cute shops, and all of the markets - especially St Cyprien and Sarlat. We had a really wonderful stay and we highly recommend it."

  • Maison Roux - Experience France in the BEST possible way!!!!

"It is difficult for me to imagine that it is possible to have a better experience than we did at Maison Roux. There is no better value, no better accommodations, and no better "inn keeper". Experience a beautiful and very very comfortable HOME (not a B&B, hotel room or apartment), experience the beauty of the French countryside prime time and experience the best in dining experiences. And here is the best part. You don't have to "wander around" for weeks to discover the best that the area has to offer. Tracey will "serve it up on a gold platter" with her detailed write ups of places to visit and the best restaurants to frequent. With her write ups and a GPS everything is easy. Our 2 week visit to Maison Roux was our first in France, but we were totally comfortable exploring from the moment that we departed Toulouse airport until we returned the car 15 days later. Tracey's write ups are "good as gold"! Over the duration of our stay we dined at all but one of her suggested restaurants (about 20 total) and visited virtually every venue (15-20 total). We found her representations or descriptions to be totally accurate. No exaggeration or "spin doctor" from this lady!! This area of France is absolutely pristine. Beautiful topography with every twist in the road offering a new photo opportunity, farming is the only industry with picture perfect farms and historic villages placed so as not to clutter the countryside. We found the French people in the area to be wonderful - warm, friendly and helpful. We have a minimal command of the French language, but language was never a barrier. Maison Roux is just simply a beautiful and totally comfortable home. It is so easy to "slide into" a sense of being at home. This is not a "thrown together" rental. It is Tracey's home away from home. We constantly thanked our lucky stars that we could enjoy Tracey's home. The layout of the home allows for wonderful shared public spaces while still providing a sense of privacy in the sleeping accommodations. The views are breathtaking!! All of the creature comforts with full kitchen (including microwave), washer and dryer, fireplace (working and wood burning), real showers and the list goes on. In summation - Maision Roux, the French countryside in the area, the wonderful venues and restaurants and a most helpful "inn keeper" Tracey, all knit together to provide an absolutely wonderful holiday. It doesn't get any better!!!!"
