"We had a wonderful stay at Le Grindoux in June! Hillary is a kind and considerate host -- she met us on arrival, showed us around the house, and was available by phone or text to answer any questions. The house has been beautifully restored and updated -- the new (fresh interior walls, new windows, contemporary soaking tub) complementing the old (limestone exterior, wooden roof beams, stone fireplace). We found it very attractive and comfortable. The upstairs bedrooms are especially inviting, with skylights to let in the morning light.
The house is located a little way outside Castillonès, surrounded by wheat fields and pastures. During our week there, we shopped the local villages (each has its market day) and made fabulous dinners in the country-style kitchen, eating al fresco at the big table on the patio with sweeping views of rolling hills and farms. There are hammocks to relax in. We rented bikes and cycled the small roads that connect the villages. At the end of our stay, no one wanted to leave.
Le Grindoux offers all comforts and conveniences, in a gorgeous setting, for a delightful stay in the French countryside. The house has plenty of books with information about the area. One week was not enough, so we will have to go back!"

Gorgeous house with a fantastic pool in the most beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
"We travelled to Cantegrive with our two young boys (ages 4 & 6). We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The house is completely lovely with plenty of space and the best equipped kitchen I've ever encountered in a rental property. The pool is amazing (18x8m) and very good for all ages and abilities. The setting is very special, totally secluded and surrounded by meadows and woodland providing complete peace and tranquility. Some great tracks for running too! Close by are lots of beautiful bastide towns to explore and some lovely restaurants if you wish to eat out. The owners of the property could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They went out of their way to provide information about activities in the area and recommending places to visit and eat. They even booked tables for us when our French wasnt up to the job!
We cant recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be going back!"

A delightful ten star experience in the heart of the most amazing part of France, the Dordogne.
"This was my fourth stay at Cantegrieve and I cannot wait for the next time. The setting of the Gite is delightful in every way. This time I brought new friends and we stayed in the largest of the apartments, well kept and serene. The kitchen is well equipped, the dining room (we ate in one night as it was still hot at 8:00) large and welcoming and the living room cool and inviting, even in the heat of July. The best part was to return in the evening and gather around the large pool, to cool off from the heat of the day and relax with friends. Later we would gather around the outside table, have our light suppoer and feel that we were in a movie about people in France who ate outside their rural houses.
The location is magnificent: in the country of "La France Profond", deep in history (the caves nearby), the architecture of medieval churches (amazing) and the simple-to-complex markets, one in a nearby town everyday. Take your pick.
The entire stay, in the beautiful and well-cared for large stone 16th century building that houses three lovely apartments, was made even more delightful by our Cantegrieve hosts, Joan and Aune. They were helpful from start to finish, supplying us with information and help every day--maps, rides where necessary (I came separately by train) cheerleading us and giving us tips on the local towns. Anything we asked seemed to be at their fingertips.
There are many beautiful places to stay in France, but no one can match the attention of our hosts to our needs at Cantegrieve.
Last time I stayed in this gite was with my children and grandchildren, 18 of us in all. We rented both the large and small apartments. There was ample room for all, and the children enjoyed the local castles and pony rides in nearby Beaumont. Whether you are a couple or a large family or just a few friends, you could not do better than this rental! As someone who writes books set in medieval France (The Canterbury Papers, the Rebel Princess) and who visits France twice a year, I have to say Cantegrieve is my favorite place to stay!"
