  • Great cottage, unique experience!

"This lovely cottage is nicely renovated and well maintained. The cottage is steps away from the castle and a leisurely walk down to the town of Beynac. The Perigod area is beautiful to visit! Would love to return another season! Thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay!"

  • Super location

"Two couples, two weeks. First the "pros": The site of the former watermill couldn't be more charming. The sounds of the waterfalls and birds are delightful, and though away from the tourist action (you MUST have a car) this is pretty convenient for sightseeing and dining. It's a unique home with lots of character. Cons: There are no supplies stocked for tenants. Bring your own salt & pepper, cleaning supplies, paper towels, other paper products, garbage bags, toiletries, etc. There's a large Carrefours market nearby, but it closes mid-day and Sunday afternoons. Some maintenance issues. Special note: Owner and her charming adult daughter were extremely helpful when we had a car problem and were stranded at house. They were life-savers for us. Equipment: note that there is no telephone. If you stay in high summer, note that A/C is only one portable unit on second floor. "Canoe" was not available to us."

  • Charming and beautiful accommodation in a spectacular region of France

"Our stay here was just wonderful. The area is quaint, charming, peaceful and beautiful. The house could be described in exactly the same way! It is a small but very charming three level home with a large bedroom with bathroom upstairs and one downstairs also with a bathroom. On the street level, between the two bedrooms is the lounge and kitchen. There is a lovely fireplace to add to the charm. The accommodation is well organised and spotlessly clean. The service is excellent. The area is just beautiful. We visited in the winter and it was fantastic. There were not many people around which was great and whilst a lot of shops were shut, there were sufficient open around about so we could buy groceries. Some restaurants were open but we loved being able to prepare food ourselves. We very much appreciated the washing machine and clothes drier! The markets nearby in St Cyprian were awesome and an absolute must see. The castles were just so spectacular and also a must see. We really enjoyed going to the trochladyte caves. So fascinating! And go into the old centre of Sarlat. Beautiful! I would have no hesitation recommending this accommodation and would happily and delightfully want to return. It gave us an opportunity to relax, breathe and soak up the charm. Watch the Jonny Depp film, Chocolat. It's just like that! In fact, it IS that!"

  • Wonderful winter vaction

"As it's name suggests, Mont Joie is indeed a mountain of joy, ideally located in the heart of the valley of the five castles. It's view is breathtaking and rivals some of the best that I've experienced. The home is ensconced in medieval history, from the the daily hike (the hike is steep) up the cobblestones to reach it and the ultimate reward for these efforts when you enter it's beautiful stone interiors that offer all modern conveniences. The small village is welcoming. Many local restaurants never fail to remind us that we don't need to go to Paris for fabulous food. This is our first time in the Dordogne during winter and feel it was one of our best winter vacations. There were no crowds, not many cars but plenty to keep us busy and much needed time to unwind and relax from our normal hectic schedules. We'd end our day in the late evenings enjoying the warmth and romance that eminated from an extrodinary and authentic, large stone fireplace. It was straight out of a romance novel. We loved it all and obviously highly recommend the region and stay at Mont Joie."
