"We visited Beynac for ten days towards the end of September, as a couple aged 65 plus. Since the house sleeps six, it would have been ideal had our adult children come along or another couple, but it was very comfortable for just the two of us. There are fairly steep stairs up to the living area and the upper bedroom, so I would not recommend it to people with mobility issues or very young children. The living spaces are very relaxing and comfortable and the kitchen so well equipped that we ate many of our dinners in. It is a bit of a trick to learn how to operate a butane powered stove/oven, but Ruth had a huge binder with info. on all of the appliances and a resource phone number, had we still not been able to figure it out. The view of the river, valley and castles, from the kitchen is a real treat! Due to the central location, we were able to make relatively easy trips to Castlenaud, Lascaux, Sarlat, Rocamadour, La Roque Gagac, Font du Gaume, Commarque Castle and Marqueyssac, just to name a few. Parking in the overnight lot wasn't a problem and the walk seemed relatively short when you compare it to all of the other walking that you are doing. I would highly recommend this site to someone looking for a home base while visiting the Dordogne area."

"My family (2 adults, 2 girls age 5 and 9) stayed at Cro Bique for 1 week in late June 2015 and found it to be an exceptional home away from home. We absolutely loved staying there and hope to return in the future. The owners Gabriella and Ofer are very friendly and helpful, it is situated just a short walk into town but also in a relaxing farm-like setting, it is spacious and well organized and equipped and has comfortable beds. These comments are consistent with those already posted here. Here’s a bit more about our specific experience and how Cro Bique exceeded our expectations.
The week that we stayed was extremely hot. There were 3 days in which the temperatures rose about 100 degree F and we were concerned that this was going to be an issue. Despite the heat, the house stayed cool, thanks to the shutters that kept the sun and the heat out during the day and the fans in each room. Gabriella and Ofer recommended places to swim and they were spot on. The kids had a great time swimming in the Dordogne during the hottest days. The deck at the front of the house was one of our favorite features. After about 4pm each day (June) the deck was in the shade, which allowed us to eat out dinners outside and relax in comfort, away from the sun.
We cooked all of our own meals during the week. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking a wide range of meals, from roasted chicken to pasta, to duck legs and sausages from the butcher. In addition, there is a barbeque outside that we used during the hottest 3 days. It worked great and (after 4pm) was also situated in the shade, making for a lovely time outside with the family.
The kids loved the area. They could walk up the hill behind the house to explore the gardens or walk down in front of the house to the hay fields that were cut and bundled during our stay. They loved having the freedom to roam around and my wife and I liked that we could easily see them from the deck wherever they went.
Finally, we found Beynac to be a great place to stay. One feature that you won’t find in the guidebooks is that the ‘area of commerce’ that is about a 15 minute walk (4 minute drive) from Cro Bique has a bakery, a butcher, and a small grocery shop that we found to be exceptional. The pastries we had at the bakery were the best we had in France and the meat we got from the butcher was also the best we had in France.
It was our favorite week of a long trip and I highly recommend it."

"The owner, Vincent was more than accommodating and helpful even before we left on our month long trip. Our week in La Petite Maison was made that much more enjoyable by the extensive information we received a few weeks before we left. I wish other rental property owners would be so thoughtful. This property is small (it's a petite maison) but is located on a narrow walkway that leads to the Beynac Chateau and if you sit out on the patio (small but all you need. accessed through the low-silled kitchen window), you will have the opportunity to interact with many people heading up the challenging trip to the Chateau. If you have a baguette, fromage and vin on the table as we did every evening, they will almost always wish you "Non appétit! We were also lucky to have 2 hot air balloons pass over the patio at alarming low altitudes, a bonus.
Martine is a hoot. Her effervescence overcomes her lack of English and you will run into her almost every day somewhere in the village. Book early to get this prize for your vacation."

"This little cottage is straight out of storybook heaven. Everything about it, inside and out, is perfection. It's next to a castle(!!), it's clean, it's modern, it's rustic, it's beautifully decorated. Idyllic in all aspects.
I traveled with my husband and two kids (ages 6 & 4) and we had a very relaxing time. We were traveling in the off-season (first week of November), so we didn't get to do a lot of things I would have loved to, but I kind of knew that going in. The next door castle unfortunately closed right after we got there (for just a month), which we didn't expect, so we never saw inside. But we saw Chateau de Castlenaud, the Marqueyssac gardens, and went to an open market in a different town almost every morning. Otherwise we relaxed inside, took walks, watched movies, just enjoyed not having to be anywhere. We had traveled 10 hours from Luxembourg in the car to get there anyway, so it was nice to stay put for a week.
The only thing I'd recommend to the owners is to make a clear list of what to bring to keep the house running smoothly. We unexpectedly ran out of toilet paper and had to take an out of the way trip to the store.
Other than that, perfection! Would love to visit again and bring other family members with me to show them this gem."
