  • A little slice of heaven

"We stayed in Anikunborda over Christmas vacation and enjoyed both the house and the scenery immensely. The owner was extremely nice and introduced us to Basque pastry. The house is beautiful, clean, and peaceful, with all the necessities available. It is as spectacular as it appears in the photos. Our children enjoyed the yard and we enjoyed that they were both safe and busy. We hiked La Rhune, saw the Lezeak caves, went into St. Pee Sur Nivelle to eat the delicious pastries, star gazed, and just spent time relaxing. Our entire family enjoyed the stay and we plan to go back again."

  • A very pleasant stay in Foncene

"Our stay in La Maison des Amis was absolutely fantastic. The house is very comfortable and the neighborhood very pleasant. It's a perfect place to enjoy the french countryside. The house is located near Cenac (5min driving distance), where we enjoyed the various market places. Patrick made himself available to answer our queries very quickly. I highly recommend La Maison des Amis to leave the tress of every day life behind."

  • Wonderful family time

"We just enjoyed a wonderful vacation in "Les Volets Bleu" with three generations of family. The location and setup was ideal for meeting everybody's needs. The multiple bathrooms were very helpful so each family had their own space and privacy. The house is divided so one family can have their own house with complete kitchen two bedrooms and family room. The other part has 4 bedrooms, a big kitchen, and a living area. This is also convenient for kids play area while the adults have the other part of the house in the evenings. The plush linens and comfortable beds were wonderful. The kitchen is well stocked and set up for large family meals. However, we mostly ate on the patio. The whole setting is picturesque and perfect for family photo shoots. Janice the owner/hostess was delightful and entertaining. Her stories, and advice made our trip even more interesting by personalizing the whole experience and making sure we took in all the Dordogne has to offer. We had wonderful days out wine tasting, had a delicious meal at the restaurant down the driveway, and took many beautiful walks straight from our front door. Staying at "Les Volet Bleu" with Janice looking after us made for a wonderful, memorable vacation for all. Each of us hope to return soon."

  • Super location

"Two couples, two weeks. First the "pros": The site of the former watermill couldn't be more charming. The sounds of the waterfalls and birds are delightful, and though away from the tourist action (you MUST have a car) this is pretty convenient for sightseeing and dining. It's a unique home with lots of character. Cons: There are no supplies stocked for tenants. Bring your own salt & pepper, cleaning supplies, paper towels, other paper products, garbage bags, toiletries, etc. There's a large Carrefours market nearby, but it closes mid-day and Sunday afternoons. Some maintenance issues. Special note: Owner and her charming adult daughter were extremely helpful when we had a car problem and were stranded at house. They were life-savers for us. Equipment: note that there is no telephone. If you stay in high summer, note that A/C is only one portable unit on second floor. "Canoe" was not available to us."
