  • Perfect Pefect Perfect

"We stayed for a week in mid October and had a wonderful experience. We had just finished walking the Camino de Santiago and wanted a peaceful place to stay in the Dordogne area for some R&R. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place. The apartment was comfortable, nicely appointed and interestingly decorated. The kitchen was very huser friendly and after 30 days on the road eating out we took full advantage of preparing home cooked meals. Julie was a wonderful and knowledgeable host, providing excellent suggestions on the best places to visit in the area. She also did a great job of communicating prior to our arrival. St Cyprien was a beautiful little French village with a fabulous market on Sunday. It's located perfectly to make the most of touring the area which is filled with castles, caves and wonderful vistas spread along the beautiful Dordogne River. The town is small, intimate and comfortable, just the right size to make you feel like you're living in a classic French village, unlike the feeling you will get from a larger tourist filled city like Sarlat-la-Canéda. It was such a perfect setting that after 7 days we were not ready to leave and we look forward to a return visit."

  • A wonderful vacation in Aquataine

"We explored the Dordogne and Vezere river valleys for 10 days this past September. We chose to stay at the Le Jardin des Amis in Meyrals, and it was the best decision we could have made. Not only are the gites very centrally located to all the attractions of the area, but after long days exploring caves and castles, coming back to our charming gites was something we looked forward to. Our hosts, Sue and Jon, could not have made our stay any better. By the time we left, we felt we were leaving dear friends! They know all about the region and were helpful with information on what to see and do as this was our first time. The gites was very well appointed and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. It even came with a very friendly resident ginger cat. The property is beautiful (the pictures on the site do not do it justice), and although we didn’t use the pool (we forgot suits), it looked inviting. You could walk for hours around the area - something that we will definitely do on our next visit. In the past, we have found that you have to go on vacation in a place to really “know” how/where to go on vacation, but not this time. This is definitely THE place to stay to explore the region. The peace and quiet of charming Meyrals was so relaxing and the hospitality of Sue and Jon exceptional!"

Sarlat-la-Caneda Travel Tips

Stay in Sarlat-la-Canéda Vacation Rentals and Leave Your Troubles Behind

Planning a trip to France that you'll never forget? Visit Sarlat-la-Canéda, (or Sarlat) a small and attractive medieval town located in southwestern France. Located between the Dordogne and Verere rivers, Sarlat is a medieval market town and capital of the Perigord Noir. Take a trip on the River Dordogne on a Gabare (or flat bottomed sailing boat). Take a stroll along the paved lanes of the old town. The center of Sarlat offers many restaurants, outdoor cafes, bars and shops for everyone to enjoy.

Sarlat-la-Canéda Vacation Homes and France Villas Provide the Comforts of Home

It's your choice. Whether you like spacious four-bedroom cottages or something smaller, a fascinating vacation in Sarlat awaits you. Enjoy all the comforts of modern living surrounded by the charm of 14th Century France. It's a wonderful balance between the old and the new. Sarlat-la-Canéda vacation homes come equipped with fully-stocked kitchens, spacious living and dining areas, DVD/CD players, flat-screen TVs, and more.

Sarlat-la-Canéda Offers Something For Everyone

Since everything is within walking distance of your Sarlat-la-Canéda vacation rental, you can leave the car behind and enjoy a stroll through the beautiful little French village of Sarlat. Sarlat-la-Canéda travel is very convenient. Take a short trip to nearby Beynac, a very popular chateux in France, or visit the equally popular La Roque Gageac Beyn, a beautiful village nestled under towering cliffs. Explore the French countryside. From cave dwellings to fairy tale castles, the views and scenery are breath taking.

Don't Forget to Take a Tour of Some Beautiful Buildings

The French architecture in Sarlat is a sight to behold. In the mid 1400's, the merchant class in Sarlat built golden-stoned mansions in a French Renaissance style. Wander through the streets in the early afternoon to enjoy the medieval architecture. Also, every year in November, Sarlat hosts its own film festival. From film festivals to breath taking scenery and historic buildings and architecture, Sarlat offers something for everyone.
