Recent Aquitaine property reviews

  • Beautiful home base to explore Aquitaine

"We recently spent 7 weeks in this beautiful home. The furnishings, art and kitchen are all top quality and make you feel so comfortable in your home away from home. We enjoyed going to local markets and wineries and then cooking dinner on the high-end gas stove using the commerical-grade pots and pans. We explored the village itself with its excllent boulangerie, good restaurants and Thursday market. We also explored the Aquitaine area, from castles and chateaus to the cave paintings at Pech-Merle and Lascaux, the beaches of Biarritz, the walled city of Carcassonne, Toul;ouse, and the wine region of Bordeaux, to name just a few. We watched the harvesting and went to a Chestnut and Mushroom (cepe) local festival. People were freindly everywhere we wnet and made our stay very enjoyable. You will not be disappointed with this accommodation and our dealings with Gary, the owner, were very good right from the start and during our stay. The Monflanquin house is a real gem."

  • Fantastic Retreat

"Our family of four stayed here for five nights and had a memorable time. The house is very peaceful, well appointed and yet close to the lower square. We loved the kitchen and 1st floor family room. One of our daughters slept on the day bed the entire stay and was more than fine. Domme was the perfect location to stay - central to the Dordogne attractions, good restaurants in the village, Thursday market was excellent. Two items to keep in mind - parking in the square and on the streets is very difficult between 9am-8pm but after that, no problem to find a spot steps away from the house. Second, the door lock is tricky at first so be sure to get instructions from the management. The owners and local management are very helpful and a pleasure to work with."
