  • Perfect Pefect Perfect

"We stayed for a week in mid October and had a wonderful experience. We had just finished walking the Camino de Santiago and wanted a peaceful place to stay in the Dordogne area for some R&R. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place. The apartment was comfortable, nicely appointed and interestingly decorated. The kitchen was very huser friendly and after 30 days on the road eating out we took full advantage of preparing home cooked meals. Julie was a wonderful and knowledgeable host, providing excellent suggestions on the best places to visit in the area. She also did a great job of communicating prior to our arrival. St Cyprien was a beautiful little French village with a fabulous market on Sunday. It's located perfectly to make the most of touring the area which is filled with castles, caves and wonderful vistas spread along the beautiful Dordogne River. The town is small, intimate and comfortable, just the right size to make you feel like you're living in a classic French village, unlike the feeling you will get from a larger tourist filled city like Sarlat-la-Canéda. It was such a perfect setting that after 7 days we were not ready to leave and we look forward to a return visit."

  • Super location

"Two couples, two weeks. First the "pros": The site of the former watermill couldn't be more charming. The sounds of the waterfalls and birds are delightful, and though away from the tourist action (you MUST have a car) this is pretty convenient for sightseeing and dining. It's a unique home with lots of character. Cons: There are no supplies stocked for tenants. Bring your own salt & pepper, cleaning supplies, paper towels, other paper products, garbage bags, toiletries, etc. There's a large Carrefours market nearby, but it closes mid-day and Sunday afternoons. Some maintenance issues. Special note: Owner and her charming adult daughter were extremely helpful when we had a car problem and were stranded at house. They were life-savers for us. Equipment: note that there is no telephone. If you stay in high summer, note that A/C is only one portable unit on second floor. "Canoe" was not available to us."

  • Wonderful home in a great location

"Upon arriving we found everything about Maison Gris to be as represented or better. The home was a marvelous base for our family get together. The house was perfect and the location worked exceedingly well. Because it was outside of Sarlat we had the advantages of privacy and hassle-free coming and going while we were close enough to easily get anything we needed or run into town for dinner in no time at all. A great patisserie five minutes walk and a tremendous LeClercs grocery store that may be one of the best I've ever seen five minutes drive. I would not hesitate to recommend it and would not hesitate to book it again for myself."

  • Cottage in Berbiguieres France

"I discovered Berbiguieres by chance and loved it so much I had to go back. I found the listing and contacted Katherine to make the reservation almost 2 years ahead of time. It was my dream place and I was not let down. The place was a perfect Perigordian cottage. Perfect in every way, the welcome, the ambiance, the convenience, the comfortableness, and the simple beauty of rural France, which to me is infinitely better than the large cities. I would never go to Paris or Province when I can go to Perigord. I am an artist, an Art History and a History buff. This place has everything. The cottage is really special. I recommend it to everyone! And I felt I made a new friend with Katherine who went out of her way to make sure our welcome was impeccable. There was a wonderful terrace and garden, the view over fields and mountains is beautiful, and the amenities like kitchen and bathroom were clean and fully equipped."
