  • One of a kind experience - do not miss this

"We just returned from our second weeklong visit to Le Charmois (our first was in 2013). It is an amazing country estate. The inside of the home is comfortable, roomy, beautifully decorated, and contains every convenience you need. The outside is in a beautiful garden and forest setting that offers wonderful walks. The location is two hours from Charles de Gaulle, and serves as the perfect base for exploring the Loire valley. The best chateaus are easy drives - Chenonceaux, Chambord, Cheverny, Azay Le Rideau, Villandry, and Sully sur Loire are just some of the highlights. Same is true for some beautiful towns - Orleans, Bourges, Blois, Loches, Gien, and others. A number of wineries and other sites are also nearby. Le Charmois is itself next to the town of Chaumont Sur Tharonne, which is quiet and charming. If you decide against touring, and instead want to spend your stay enjoying the property, you will not be disappointed by the beautiful setting. But I imagine more people are likely to combine sightseeing with enjoying Le Charmois. The folks managing the property are outstanding and very helpful with whatever you will need. This includes the wonderful housekeeper, Catherine (who also cooks if you like), to the owners and other liaisons who offer remote support. All ages enjoy Le Charmois. We had grandparents, grandchildren, and the inbetween during our stays. Again, do not miss a chance to stay here!"

  • Serene setting with an abundance of charm!

"What a fantastic time at Lebelvedere. Lovely historic home filled with beautiful antiques and works of art. My husband and I stayed three nights and wished we could have extended the visit. The cottage we stayed in was very spacious. Enjoyed late afternoons just sitting in the garden reading and drinking excellent wine from the region. Lebelvedere is in a village we found to be very welcoming. Great places to walk along the river through parks and to a winery. Located just a short block to the town square with cafes, restaurants, and shops. Enjoyed eating at the square and walking back to the home, without having to drive. Dominque and Jean are wonderful hosts recommending chateaus, museums, and restaurants. Two of our favorite memories are the aerial tour of the chateaus by Jean and the Leonardo di Vinci museum. My husband was in the Air Force and he and Jean, a former pilot, could have talked for hours about planes. Dominque is very gracious and prepared a wonderful selection of croissants, breads, cheese, beverages and homemade yogurt for breakfast. Delightful way to start each day. Would recommend it to anyone interested in a special treat!"

  • Very comfortable, clean and quiet

"Great place to stay while visiting the Loire castles. Lovely cottage with country style decoration. Beautiful fireplace. No problems with the hot water. The heating was simple to use and efficient. The Wi-Fi was perfect in the living room, a little more difficult in the bedrooms. We had a couple of fantastic BBQ for dinner. We got amazing weather so it was a pity the swimming pool wasn't available as well as sun lounges for sunbathing - but this was because we had the luck to have summer weather in early April! This house is perfect for 2 couples with children, enough space for everybody. We'll keep great memories of this trip!"

  • Absolute heaven in the Loire Valley

"I cannot find the words to express the magic of our holiday at Chateau des Grotteaux. We assembled a group of 33 family and friends here and our only disappointment was having to leave. Pierre Antoine, the owner, was very responsive leading up to our arrival and was helpful in recommending caterer and bike rentals, among other things. Our group spent the majority of our time eating and lounging by the large and beautiful pool as the weather was perfect all week, ranging from low 60s in the mornings to around 80 late in the day. We organized bikes to be delivered to the chateau and biked from there to Blois, Cheverny, and Chambord, with wine tasting stops in the surrounding countryside, all on the extensive bike trail system that covers the area. Tennis tournaments were arranged for the tennis court, which is accessed by a short walk through the enchanting forest. We also arranged for two formal dinners to be served in the large dining room which easily accommodated our large numbers. The caterer provided a simple breakfast each morning, which we supplemented with fruit and cereal. Fresh vegetables were ordered from the neighboring farm. We also used the pool kitchen for several big, collaboratively cooked meals. The kitchen is well stocked, and the huge grill (supplied with charcoal) is fantastic! The kitchens could use a few better knives and some roasting pans, though they were never lacking in plates, cutlery, glasses and serving dishes. The master bedrooms are sumptuously decorated and everything was well cleaned and cared for. The Norma suite of rooms made a perfect kid den and Pierre Antoine brought in several extra beds to accommodate the large number of kids we had between us. There are three sound systems supplied, in the living room, basement cafe and pool area, as well as a large AV system in the living room for showing DVDs or presentations. Thank you to Pierre Antoine for caring for our every need and providing such a beautiful place for us. Truly a chateau of fairy tales!"
