  • Summer in France from Canada

"Had a great time at the cottage with family (4 of us - 7 and 10 year old) in the French countryside. Very central location to explore the Loire Valley. Really enjoyed viewing each chateau from near by Azay le Rideau to Usse to Chenonceau. The Chinon wine is sneaky good - wishing we brought back more. Anne was very friendly, and the pictures shown here are true to the cottage experience. I would stay here again, as this was one of the highlights from our summer trip."

  • Incredible experience

"I cannot thank Diane enough for making this house available to my friends and me for our recent vacation. It is warm, welcoming and perfect as a base to explore the French countryside or to just sit and relax. It is well stocked with dishes and cooking supplies, towels, linens and everything you could need to have a six course meal or just cook up some scrambled eggs for breakfast. There were plenty of bedrooms and the beds were comfortable. It was great that we each could have our own bathroom. There is a great book she has prepared with recommendations about activities, restaurants and just general info. We were fortunate that Diane was in residence in her portion of the property so were able to spend some time with her. Her restaurant recommendations were superb, particularly L'Auberge de l'Ecole about 20 minutes away. We has an incredible meal served by a friendly and helpful staff. Meusnes is not a hotbed of activity but the nearby town, Selles Sur Cher has a lot to offer including a great weekly market, cafes and restaurants. From our base we took daily excursions to le Chateau de Chenonceau, the Zoo Beauval (not to be missed), Blois, Tours, and several other areas. The drive through the French countryside was beautiful and not to be missed. The house was easy to get to from Paris. We rented a car in Paris and drove down using the GPS I had brought from home. No problems, not hard getting out of Paris and a fairly easy 2.5 - 3 hour drive. This is a great house for friends to share or for a family or an extended family vacation. It would work well with multi generations. I would love to be able to stay for a month, hosting various friends to visit and really becoming part of the French country life. Maybe when I retire..... Thank you, Diane"

  • Great Homebase to Explore the Loire

"Our family of four stayed for a week at La Noue in late November and found it to be a great base from which to explore the Loire. Christine was a very responsive and helpful host and her brother Jean was onsite to help with any questions we had. The accommodations themselves were extremely roomy and a truly authentic chateau. Having stayed in the "two room" setup with family at a hotel, being able to share this large and comfortable space was a treat and definitely the only way to travel with family through the country. There were a number of chateaus, charming towns and amazing restaurants within easy driving distance. Getting a quick pastry and espresso in the local village before a day of sight seeing was a great start to our days. While it was extremely cold during our stay (we visited the last week of November and consciously made this trade-off to avoid crowds of tourists), the grounds would have been an awesome setting for a picnic or simply running around during warmer weather. Having large bedrooms and bathrooms for a family to get ready in the morning or simply relax before dinner made enjoying the entire day during our trip so much easier. This is a unique setting for exploring a beautiful area of the French country and getting a true feel for the local lifestyle. A tip though - bring a GPS, if not to find the chateau, to navigate some of the smaller local roads at night, especially if there are any construction detours. We would definitely recommend an extended stay at La Noue to our friends."
