Recent Paris Arr. 14 (Montparnasse) reviews

  • Perfect for a week in Montparnasse.....

"We stayed in Mireille's beautiful apartment for a week during our recent trip and it met all expectations. Staying in Montparnasse puts you in a Paris neighborhood and gives a different feel for the city than one you would get if you stayed around the major attractions. But because Paris is such a great walking city and has a terrific metro, everything is very accessible. The apartment is great: roomy, incredibly bright, well furnished, and (because you share the street with one side of the Montparnasse Cemetery) quiet. The street market on the Rue Daguerre is just up the block and around a corner; fresh produce, cheese, fish and wine are all within a 5 min walk. It also takes just a few minutes to get to one of the best boulangeres in Paris. There are excellent restaurants close to the apartment and even more within a short walk down to the Boulevard de Montparnasse. Access to the RER is close by and makes a great way to get to and from CDG. Mireille was wonderful. We had an opportunity to visit with her the evening of our arrival and she gave us an excellent orientation to the neighborhood. Our flight was delayed by several hours at the end of our stay and she very graciously accommodated the change in schedule by letting us keep our luggage in the apartment until later that day. She is a delightful person and we felt we had a friend in Paris from the moment we met her. Thank you Mireille."

  • Great place

"We really loved this airy apartment with its views over the rooftops of Paris. It has real charm and is a lovely place to relax. Well-equipped (I especially liked the coffee-bean grinder/expresso machine) and very bright, in a secure, quiet private courtyard. Neighbours were very friendly. Rooftop terrace looked inviting (although we didn't really use it as the weather was rainy). Only a couple of minutes' walk from the Metro and bus stops and there's are supermarkets and shops very nearby, along with a laundromat. Three minute walk to the entrance to the catacombes and an easy stroll of about 15 mins to the Luxembourg gardens. An ideal base for a relaxing break. A highlight was sitting chilling in the bright lounge, drinking coffee, surfing on my iPad and listening to jazz on the radio."

  • “Our Trip of a Lifetime”

"What a wonderful 8 days we enjoyed in Paris. We are 4 best girlfriends~~ we started grammar school in Brooklyn, NY together many years ago. It was the first time visiting Paris for 3 of us. Staying at "Chez Pierre" was a wonderful asset to our trip. It was like a touch of home! How sweet to be able to enjoy a French breakfast together at our leisure before beginning each day's adventure and then, to come home and be able to recap our days in cozy comfort! The property owners were so helpful in making our dreams come true.. They made many suggestions and recommended 2 special restaurants that were fabulous. La Regalade and Les Petite Sorcieres.... Another highlight was having lunch at Le Deli-Cieux @ The Top of Printemps....You could see all of Paris while enjoying a glass of wine. Printemps windows were decorated beautifully for Christmas. One of our friends had been to Paris several times and stayed in hotels. She quotes that "staying at Chez Pierre was a much more pleasant experience". It was wonderful to be able to use the Internet and the telephone, we had room for everything and comfortable beds. The apartment is a short walk to the metro and buses. We used public transportation all the time. Across the street was a large supermarket (Monoprix) where you could get food, wine, clothes as well as a bakery. The Rue de Guerre was only a few blocks away and offered many food delicacies. Thank you for making this trip to Paris a most memorable trip of our life! We would highly recommend "Chez Pierre" to all."

  • Wonderful location

"We were a group of five that stayed here in April 2015; our group included three generations ranging in age from 83 to 20. It suited us perfectly! The townhouse is in a secluded courtyard and garden yet outside the gate is a busy thoroughfare with shops, cafes and the all important Monoprix. Metro stop is across the street but you can also take a lovely walk down to Luxembourg Gardens and even downtown Paris if you're feeling ambitious. We were very happy with the choice. Just make sure you learn how to work the door lock; friendly neighbors helped us out a couple of times."
